  1. Default setting for forum email frequency

It would be useful to have a global setting for the default forum email frequency -- immediate or weekly. If this is not feasible I think that the default should be weekly. Many members object to
    receiving too-frequent emails.

  2. Accessibility Features (Section 508)

Would like to request accessibility features to be added to the site's templates including:

    FORMS:

Add label tags around the form's labels, and associate the labels with their form fields using IDs (explanation: http://webaim.org/techniques/forms/screen_reader.php#labels)

Group form controls using fieldsets and legends, where appropriate (explanation: http://webaim.org/techniques/forms/screen_reader.php#group).

    NAVIGATION:

Add a "skip navigation feature" to allow keyboard users to skip over the navigation menus, when they are tabbing thru links on a page. (explanation: http://webaim.org/techniques/skipnav/#focus).

These features would make the sites more accessible to disabled users (people who cannot use mouse, blind people using screenreader software, etc) and help make…

  3. SEO enhancements - 301 Redirects

As per our e-mail exchange, we'd like to request the ability to do 301 redirects. It's not something everyone will understand the value of, but it is a very good idea. It would benefit everyone, but especially those switching an existing site to a WA site.

Here are some additional details of why they are important. As per a previous email exchange from Dmitry, I'll post these comments here...

  4. Discount coupons for event registrations

I tried implementing the arrangement for coupon codes for events this week.

I'm sorry, but I really don't like the way it currently works.

To explain, I wanted to setup a coupon code in WA for 25% off a registration for any event. To start with, I needed to edit every single event one at a time to do so. Then, when I logged in and practiced going through the process of registering, it showed the 25% off rate as an option. Anyone could see the amount of the coupon, even if they did not know the code and therefore…

  5. Blog post and comments moderation

Is there a way to "accept comments" before they post directly to our blog? We want to let the public comment without having to be a member but at the same time want to ensure that none of the content being posted is inappropriate.

    Thanks for your help.

  6. Sponsor/Advertiser Management Module

We would like to sell ad space in our footer and/or header areas to sponsors and other advertisers.

While it is possible to do this manually, with separate billing etc., it would be very helpful to have a tool to manage the process, including:

    • receipt and storage of an ad or logo
    • scheduling of its presentation (ie start date, stop date, duration etc)
    • selection of which pages it would appear on
    • billing and collection via credit card

As for many organizations, I am sure this wouild provide a means of cost-effectively generating revenues and site traffic.

    Dmitry Smirnov responded

Ad’s management is a huge business with strong players, so building something competitive will cost us a fortune. There is quite low probability that we will take it into development in the nearest future.

For simple cases we recommend to use existing CMS functionality to inject ad’s into site pages. In case if you need precise control on what and when should be shown, then we recommend to integrate 3-rd party solutions.

  7. Tracking Event Volunteers

A huge part of our non-profit's activities involve not only sponsoring events and managing event registrations, but also (just as importantly if not moreso) signing up volunteers to help with these events. There are a few different types of volunteers typically.

    (1) General volunteers who sign up to help plan the event. There may be different subsets in this category. For example, our annual Spring Fair is a major event that recruits volunteers for the Food Committee, Decorating Committee, Entertainment Committee, PR Committee, etc.

    (2) Event Day Volunteers are people who sign up for specific jobs and/or time slots on…

  8. Tracking Continuing Education Points (CEU, CEC, CPD, CPU)

There is currently no special functionality for tracking Continuing Education points/credits in Wild Apricot. It is possible to track these via custom admin-only fields but this requires manual process. We are considering adding this functionality in the future and would appreciate details on how these are typically tracked by our clients.

  9. Allow secondary/alternate emails for members

    Current features:
Each contact/member (company or individual) can only have one email that is used to receive messages.

    Desired features:
Allow contacts/member to have multiple emails that can be used to receive emails.

    Team Husky responded

    Sorry for the late update.

The first step was finished and emails can now be carbon copied to contact’s alternative emails. To do so the contact fields which store the alternative emails must be explicitly marked on the email setting page.

Unsubscribing will unsubscribe all alternative emails simultaneously because they all belong to the very same account. The person clicking “unsubscribe” is warned about this on the unsubscribe page.

For now we paused the development of this feature. but not for good. :) So I’m changing this wish status back to “collecting comments”.

Thank you everyone for a valuable feedback.

  10. Customize how Member ID is generated

Is there a way I can designation a "starting number" for the member ID field? For example, if I am setting up a new membership database and I would like our member ID numbers to begin at 500.

  11. Re-Sorting Event Registration Types

The event registrations are sorted by $$ cost only and cannot be resorted. We have a big 3-day meeting and one can register for 1 day (any day), 2 days (any 2 days) or 3 days, then different member categories, then non-members can attend too, and the 28 different registration types are all messed up when sorted only by $$ cost. Can you fix this so we can sort the registration types by other means? Thank you.

  12. Gadget to show recently updated pages

    Current behavior:
users have no way of knowing which webpages have been recently updated - unless administrator manually creates a page informing them of updates.

    Desired behavior:
Some kind of module/widget which can be inserted onto any page and which dynamically would show most recent updates.

    Notes:
    1) ideally track which pages users has already seen.
2)What's the best way to show updates? Simplest idea: Top 10 mostrecently updated pages. For each page - show page name, date updatedand user who updated it (probably show this only to logged in members, not to the public)

  13. Login widget for embedding WA into external sites

    Current behavior:
Wild Apricot pages can be embedded into other websites using our 'widget http://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Adding+Wild+Apricot+functionality+to+other+websites ' functionality. This includes member-only pages.

    Desired behavior:
'Login' widget which displays a login box and after login redirects to a particular 'target' page selected by the administrator

    Workaround:
Embed this 'target' page instead - it will display a login prompt to users and then redirect to the target page.

  14. Ability to export backup of the whole account

    Current behavior:
Wild Apricot automatically backs up all the datain all accounts daily. However, this is intended for emergency serverproblems only and these backups are not accessible to clients.Restoring a specific page or set of records on client request is a timeconsuming operation (which we currently do not charge for).
Thereare also export operations for all the key data sets (members, donors, event attendees, payments) but these do not cover settings and webpages and have to be run manually one by one.

    Desired behavior:
Ability for clients to initiate a full backup of their account at any time.

    Notes:
    1)The key…

  15. Add moderation of new forum posts

    Current behavior:
All posts and replies are published immediately (subject to the user having appropriate access rights on the particular forum)

    Desired behavior:
    Ability to moderate posts/comments

    Implementation ideas:

    • Administrator can specify whether forum should be moderated or not (maybe by each membership level?)
    • Administrator can assign moderators
    • All new posts/replies according to settings go into moderation list
    • Moderators receive notices (probably option: each message/daily digest)
    • Moderators have online list of messages to be moderated and can approve/reject/edit them
    • once approved, message is displayed.

  16. Listserv i.e. ability to submit forum posts by email

    Current behavior:
Discussions and collaborations between members can currently only be handled online (within forum or blog pages)

    Desired behavior:
Listserv functionality where members can mail-in comments and receive email summaries of all comments

    Notes:
    1) The biggest challenge is how to enable this without overloading our servers with email traffic. This can ramp up quickly.
    2) We are starting the work on forum email notifications, this handles this need at least partially.

  17. Preparing and printing event participant badges

    Current behavior:
To print event participant badges, attendee list has to be exported into Excel and something like Microsoft Word mail merge used. This provides a lot of flexibility but obviously is less convenient than a built-in badge generator

    Desired behavior:
Built-in functionality to define badge layouts and to print out badges in common label sizes right from the system

    Notes:
We would appreciate feedback about desired label formats (sizes) and customization needs for badge layouts/design

  18. Limit number of selection for individual registration options

    Current behavior:
Automatic cap of event registrations is currently set for the whole event only.

    Desired behavior:
Many people use custom event fields to handle registrations for specific sessions within large events. What's needed is the ability to specify for each option in such fields that it should be limited to certain number of people. Once the limit is reached, option should become unavailable.
    An example:
Which extra sessions you want to attend?
    [] Golf $150 - Max 30
    [] strip club $100 - <No Max>
    [] History museum $20 - Max 50

  19. Affiliate program integration

    Current behavior:
There is no way to send an autiomatic confirmation to the affiliate system if it is used to drive new memberships

    Desired behavior:
Ability to capture the affiliate source for member coming to the application page and then send a confirmation upon successful member application.

    Notes:
    1) Confirmation will probably be implemented by allowing custom Javascript code to run after completed memberships
    2) Need to figure out a way to distinguish when that should be sent (how would the system know where the application is originated)
    3) Different processing for different membership levels is probably needed

  20. Member to member messages

    Current behavior:
Currently one member can contact another only outside of the system - and only if that member has disclosed his contact information (email/phone)

    Desired behavior:
Members should be able to contact other members right on the site, without having to expose email addresses

    Notes:
Messages can be forwarded to member emails - or displayed to each member when logged in.
