Advanced options for event registration types pricing
We are finding the we would like to have sub-registration items available under main registration types. Hopefully, other will see a need for this. Here is what we are looking for.
For instance, we set up an event and want to offer a exhibitor only pass as a registration type, however, we want to charge a daily rate for this pass. So similar to how the registration form "multiple choice with extra cost" function works, we would like the registration type to work the same way as follows:
Exhibits Only Registration (no price listed)
The user would select one or more of the sub-category items listed. This same logic could be use in many different ways, for instance, a registration type called Full Registration could have a sub-category called student rate and a non-student rate. The possibilities are extensive and would help make the registration process much cleaner.
Under the current design, we would have to set up three different registration types to get the same options as what we want above. This make the registration process unreasonable because of the excess list of alternatives attendees have to filter through and figure out which one works for them. The only other option under the current design is to set up a "free registration type" and then set up the registration form with a "multiple choice with extra cost" option; hoping the attendee can figure out that because they picked the "free" registration type that they also need to select one of the extra cost options on the next page in the registration process. Really confusing and difficult to figure out under the current design.
It would be great if the design used for the "multiple choice with extra cost" logic used on the registration form pages could be moved over to the registration type pages so that the same logic could be used to simplify the event registration process. Hope others see this as something they would like to use and we can get this on the roadmap.

I came across a posting on 17th January 2012 from Frank, User Experience Designer (WA) that provides a CSS workaround that appears to work a treat
It does the job for us by removing the registration label from the bullets that appear below the heading Registration in the registration box that appears on the front page of each event. For the events that have multiple registrations, we now need to include in the registration description some of the text that previously appeared in the registration label - not a problem
The change applies to all events that appear on the PageID specified in the CSS code (the PageID can be found in Page management)
Thanks Frank

Back to sub-registration types:
We have a meeting where people can attend the whole thing, or one or more single days. Single day option is cheaper for students than for graduate members. Also, to only let someone in on the single day, we color their badges accordingly.
Would be nice to have the main heading as "single day(s)" and then the individual days below. Like this:
Veterinary Student Single day registration (Please check each one that you want)
Saturday 35
Sunday 35
Monday 35
Tuesday 35Graduate veterinarian Single Day Registration
Saturday 135
Sunday 135etc.Would also like to branch to a separate registration form for techs, vets, and students attending the same event. Current form has a LOT of different registration types.

This is also addressed in 24159 http://forums.wildapricot.com/forums/308932-wishlist/suggestions/8826691-do-not-mark-as-free-events-which-involve-expense
We are a golfing society that has around forty fixtures per year at various golf clubs in the UK. We want as many Members as possible to register for events to show their availability for selection. We do not charge for events via the web site, we collect all fees due on the day and pay the golf club directly. The society does not get involved in the finances so we set up all events as 'free' to avoid invoicing issues
We use the event and registration type descriptions to explain the pricing of the event so having the Register panel next to each event displaying '- Free' is confusing and distracting.

There is no direct option for that, but you can easily workaround this: administrator in admin interface can add new even registration using any registration type. So, you can create disabled registration type and use it for these situations (again - this can only be done from administrative user interface).

It would be great to be able to have an administrator registration option that is only open to the administrator, so that if people are given a complimentary registration that's not a common occurrence within the event, an administrator can enter their registration without all registrants knowing there are some who are able to attend for free. Often we have presenters who are complimentary since they are presenting, but no way for them to register as complimentary without everyone seeing that option. Also, if we bundle a portion of a registration with a new membership, it would be nice to be able to process that registration as the administrator without it being "public" to all others. Sometimes we only charge a portion of the event if they join the organization, thus an administrator registration would be very helpful.

Can you tell us - why do you want to hide it?

Is there a way to hide the ¨free¨ label appearing when no price is indicated? I have been desperately looking for this... sorry if I missed it...

If we find a way to hide 'Free' label, would this address your need to a large degree?
(you can already make the extra charges field mandatory)
