Members to use marketing tools on their profile page - web stats, custom URL, etc.
Our premium level members are looking for a better set of tools, essentially to use their profile pages as a marketing tool, to make membership more value-added. For example, they are used to higher end features available from http://psychologytoday.com . Obviously, this is not as high end a system, but for a wish list, and to make paid membership a value, these desired features are very relevant.
Member requests:
--custom URL's allowing us to list the member name in the url--or some automated option to do so, without having to manually create a redirecting page for everyone.
--SEO
--web stats: the ability for members to view, in their own profiles, some basic web statistics and analytics of views on their profile page.

AutoResponders for new members
How about the idea of automated responses when someone signs up to become a member. Right now there is no opt-in, no "thank you" message, no nothing.
Ideally, I'd like to setup a series of e-mails that go out at a certain frequency to new members (unless they opt-out).

Gadget to show recently updated pages
Current behavior:
users have no way of knowing which webpages have been recently updated - unless administrator manually creates a page informing them of updates.Desired behavior:
Some kind of module/widget which can be inserted onto any page and which dynamically would show most recent updates.Notes:
1) ideally track which pages users has already seen.
2)What's the best way to show updates? Simplest idea: Top 10 mostrecently updated pages. For each page - show page name, date updatedand user who updated it (probably show this only to logged in members, not to the public)10 votes -
Treat Membership Application Consistently for Public, Member and Bundlee
Our membership application page displays information about membership. It would be useful for members to be able to view the information on the page, and to be able to show it to someone else without logging out.
But logged-in maxed out bundle administrators can't view any of the content on a page containing the Membership Application gadget. All they see is a message about the bundle being full.
If a bundle member views the page, at least they can see the content and they get a coherent error message "You are already a member." But there is useful information in the Membership Application Gadget that they can't see.
The Member Application Gadget should just be grayed out for a logged-in member. Add a message "You are already a member" if you like. The bundle admin can use their profile to add members.
But there shouldn't be a page that looks four different ways for the public, a bundle member, and a bundle admin depending on whether or not they're maxed.

Change UI for "Date" Field Type - show separate year, month and day selection
In developing a membership registration form for our website, I am looking to include a "Date of Birth" field. However, the "Date" field type appears to only allow one method of entering a date. In our organization, there are many members who are older, and for whom the date entry requires navigation to their respective year of birth, which presents difficulty due to the method of data entry, and the propensity of our older members to be uncomfortable using computers.
(Admittedly, the calendar default of starting on today's date does lend itself to certain types of fields, like booking hotels or flights.)
It would be more intuitive and easier to use a method of entering data into the date field using three drop-down menus, like "Month", "Day", and "Year." I suppose I could do that myself by creating those 3 fields, but that opens up entry errors, like somebody entering "February 30" as a date, for example.
I recommend that the Wild Apricot team considers implementing an option such as the one I have suggested; it seems to be the more common method of entering dates into electronic forms, and would ease the burden on less-experienced users to navigate an unfamiliar date selection format.
I would love to hear what other users have experienced when utilizing the "Date" field in forms, if they have had difficulty, and what they have done to address user feedback in using it.

Different Form Options for Guests
I am hoping that someone will be able to tell me how to do this, perhaps a workaround I haven't thought of?
We are trying to use WA for our conference registration and are having issues because we include hotel stays with our conference fees. Basically, we register attendees by group so they are either ALL members or ALL non-members. Great because the primary contact can register all of their board members/staff at one time and the system knows that they are members so their pricing will be correct. For each guest, their fee goes up $250 and for each room they reserve, it goes up $600. I also need to know WHICH room they are in (to put people together in rooms) so for example, Room 1, Room 2, Room 3. And I need to know if they have any special diet requirements, vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.
I'd appreciate any thoughts on the best way to do this. I could have each guest fill out all the information, but I don't want them to get charged for too many rooms. I'd like the primary registrant to choose the number of rooms and then have them note rooming info, diets, etc, on each guest's registration.

Export of information presented on dashboard
The main and membership Dashboards both provide do a good job of summarizing data in the system and as such provide a valuable reporting tool.
However, the essence of a report is the ability to share it with others and there is no mechanism to do this. At present these reports are on the screen only and short of taking a screen snap there is no way to pass them around.
I would find it very valuable if there were an "Export" button which allowed us to receive a download of the dashboard in Excel (CSV??) format. This would allow us to both manipulate the report and to share it with the board and our membership.

Event Registration for viewing a video
We are just starting to produce some webinars for our members and have opened them to the public to attract new members and establish some good PR. The webinar service, GoToWebinar, has its own registration function that forces us to re-enter registration info into our Wild Apricot database manually. While that is a chore, it's not the problem that I want addressed which is this:
We record the webinars and would like to make each recording available for anyone to view later as long as they register so we can collect contact info. The webinar service offers this function - they archive the recording and register anyone wanting to view it. Unfortunately, that again leaves this registration data on the webinar service database, not in our primary Wild Apricot database.
It would be desirable if we could ask potential viewers to register on our Wild Apricot website before they get access to the video recording. We don't want to allow them to download the video, nor do we want to give them a link to the video. Either of those options would allow them to re-distribute the video or link and we would lose subsequent contacts.
In effect, we want to offer registration for a web event (or deliverable).
While we could offer a free membership level that would allow certain privileges, such as access to one section of our website, there would be no way to determine how many or which video recordings they accessed in that section. The solution is to provide the actual video recording showing upon completion of a registration.
Google Drive or it's equivalents provide for storage size and shared access to make this work and require a login prior to accessing an individual file, but then we open a second registration system and would have to manually transfer the contact information to the Wild Apricot database. A secondary concern is that we would also be providing Google with contact information of our members who want to view an archived webinar.
Wild Apricot's feature set is so rich that I keep thinking there must be some way to make this happen, but nothing comes to mind. Any ideas?

Renewal discount when renewing for several years
My club, The Carp Anglers Group, offers one year membership for $25. Before we used WA, we managed our membership with checks in the mail and an excel spreadsheet. We accepted $25 for one year, but offered a discount if a member joined for 3 years- $65 instead of 75.
The only way to replicate this currently in WA is with more levels. That won't work for us. We have levels of membership already set up for USA, Mexico, Canada, and an E-membership. Adding 2 more levels to each of these would be very difficult, plus then I could not look at the USA membership as a whole as easily as I can now.
So, I am really hoping you can add some kind of way to have various payment options within levels to accommodate this kind of wholesale situation.

Member-focused SEO - i.e. how many views/visits on a member's profile page, search terms used to find member
I thought it would be good to have a "Member-focused SEO" category here, because there are several SEO-related features (not 301 redirects) that my client's members have requested.
Since switching to WA 4 months ago, there has been some attrition of members because more and more, people are seeking better SEO placement through membership organization websites. Their biggest motivation in joining is for the public to be able to find them.
Specifically requested features:
--Customized URL's for publicly viewable member profile pages (so we can include member or practice names in the URL)
--SEO index (.xml) including member pages and member directory, in addition to site pages and public blogs.
--Integrated web stats with access to usage on member profiles. I.e. - how many views/visits on a member's profile page, search terms used to find member, etc. This is to be competitive with other high profile membership directories, e.g. Psychology Today.
Can such category be created, and should I post for each of these separately there?
Many thanks.

Filters
I would like to be able to have custom filters for all Filter check boxes. For example, I would like to see only this year's donations, or members who joined last year, etc.
Ideally the filters would all use the same SQL logic/fields, and be available for all or just selected lists (e.g., [Last Name begins with 'G'] would be available for all filters, while [Donation greater than $1,000] would only apply to the Donations section).
I also imagine a grid maintenance view, where all custom filters are listed from top to bottom and the various sections are columns from left to right. Any filter that is not technically possible for any section is shaded out, and the administrator can select and de-select any of the available filters with a check box.

Events - my members own widget(s) for their own website
WISH LIST: with EVENTS I would like a solution to make it possible to place a "widget" of a single member's events on their own website. In other words, if we have say 500 members in total as an example, specific members could have this widget to display events on their website of ONLY their own events they have entered on our website (or by tags if they want to include other member events as well, but first things first).
This could be a serious win win situation as it would help Wild Apricot clients (all of us) with a viable selling point of why to renew their annual dues (as they are using the calendar on their own website and administering it through their login through our member site) and it also provides them with an easy to use calendar to replace their own current calendar (if they even have one, which most people don't).
My wish list $.02 worth, but I think it would benefit us all to add another component to strengthen our own online communities.
