NewPath Consulting now has a flexible and powerful solution that uses WordPress to organize and index any sort of file like PDF or Word document. Please have a look at https://waxm.newpathconsulting.com/wadm

The resulting feature can be embedded into any Wild Apricot site.

It would be also nice to present documents in a "magazine" format like issuu.com does.

This is a pretty nice implementation in jQuery -- I wonder if it can be made available in a File Browser gadget -- could be really useful. This code is GPL

If you want you can use the 3 emails for current registers called reminders. The trick is to set the date of the past event to the current date or later. And then you can use a reminder to send an email to all registrants. When done set the event back to the original past date. It’s w workaround but it works fine.

This is possible with Integromat integration. Our team is considering building a scenario to implement this as a workaround to the internal limitations of post event emails.

    Rosemary,

I have to be honest with you. MailChimp has had years on the Wild Apricot email system. Their whole company works on making email better. Email in Wild Apricot is one of many modules. So.... I would not expect the email system to get magically as good as MailChimp.

Same for the website editor. That’s why WordPress is a better system for the website.

But remember this: the biggest reason to use all Wild Apricot modules is because the database is integrated. This is reason enough not to use MailChimp.

If you want to see how to use the email editor better get in touch. I will show you how to make nice templates in wild apricot. Have a look here: https://www.newpathconsulting.com or email me sales@newpathconsulting.com

There is a way to do this. Here's a cheat sheet and a short video on how to turn sent emails into archives.

We have implemented an Integromat scenario that bulk prints invoices. It is available to you to download for free. See https://www.newpathconsulting.com/waam for more details.

We use email templates as the actual start for one particular email. So there’s a real template and then then copy of the template as an instance for a particular month. We do this to create a web version of the email. Then the email is created from this monthly template. It would be really useful to be able to even sort the templates by date created. Folders are already possible by moving them into a folder in the files manager so there’s a workaround for that. Of course once they are in the sub folder in the email templates folder they aren’t usable as email templates anymore. That’s just for archiving.

The current date/time can be used on an email blast when you're not using the built in invoice/automation for memberships. There are times when you want to manually send reminders even invoices using the macro customization. The current/date and time models existing forms of invoices.

Most templates when they are moved over from other systems (manual or otherwise) prominently display date/time. I actually thought this was a built in {} macro, but surprised to find it is not.

Folks, CSS is the currently recommended way to make these changes. Indeed there are many styles to work through and the level of customization is very high. Any complex dynamic website like Wild Apricot will have hundreds of styles.

We use https://waxm.newpathconsulting.com/watm and it is an effective way to maintain these styles. Have a look.

Here is a scenario that uses Google Docs to populate a template certificate with Wild Apricot data. The resulting "merged" Google Doc can be downloaded in PDF and emailed to the contact. This can be done in batch format for multiple certificates at a time. The scenario can be altered to be trigged on an event registration or a membership application too.

Contact www.newpathconsulting.com/waam for more details or if you have questions.

Do you all realize that Integromat is free for 1000 operations per month. This probably will get you 200 certificates for free per month. So the cost is not really the issue. The issue is spending the time to configure it.

Time is money. So would it help if I created a blueprint you could install for free to do this?

Have a look at our member directory plugin available in beta at https://waxm.newpathconsulting.com/wawp . It's a native directory you can integrate into WordPress with searching capability.

We are working on an idea to use Ninja Forms, a WordPress plugin for forms, that will interact with the Wild Apricot API to create forms that can populate Wild Apricot (membership application, event reg, profile update).

Of course then you can start to leave the CMS behind in Wild Apricot, start using WordPress as the CMS and use the native form building functions in Ninja Forms as well to your heart's content.

I would not wait for Wild Apricot to build advanced form building in the product any time soon. It's an innovation that is extremely complex to "reinvent" and there are lots of solutions that can embed a form into a Wild Apricot site (typeform, jotform, formstack, google forms etc).

We use formstack.com to accomplish this very thing. Works well and integrates quite well with Wild Apricot.

wufoo, google forms and typeform are other products. While WA works on the vast amount of feature requests in this forum., this is the approach I'd take.

This is an extremely complex feature request that really would make wild apricot something very different than it is today.

There are some small steps that can be taken towards the implementation of some of the requests in this omnibus sort of request. I noted a need to allow membership fields to be available to bundle admins only, or to bundle members only or to both (as is currently the cases for all membership fields applicable to a bundle membership level)

This request is actually quite important for a number of reasons. One of the basic constructs in Wild Apricot is that all records are contacts. There is not the notion of a parent/child relationship between a company and its staff or employees. In many use cases Wild Apricot is used to maintain this sort of relationship using a bundle membership.

The bundle administrator can be either be:

    a) a person at a company responsible for the billing and administration of a company's membership with an association/club

    or

    b) the company itself with an admin email address like sales@company.com.

Then the staff/employees at the company are all bundle members enjoying the benefits afforded by the bundle administrator renewing the membership in a timely basis.

The core issue is that any membership fields that are assigned to the bundle membership level are applicable to ALL records in a bundle. In some cases a certain set of membership fields are applicable to a bundle administrator (say in the use case b above). And in other cases certain membership fields are only applicable to the bundle members.

It would be really useful to have a configuration parameter on a membership field for bundle membership levels that does the following

    Enable the field on members

    1) only for the bundle administrator
    2) only for the bundle members
    3) for both (which is the current default case for all applicable membership fields)

This could be implemented as another configuration parameter when defining a membership field. To be sure this should only be available when the membership field is assigned to a bundle membership level.

The use case would enable the ability to have a bundle administrator have a "complete record" for an organization and for each bundle member to have a membership record more applicable for a person without the need for the extended organizational "bundle administrator" set of membership fields.

What would be actually nice is to allow more granular control of taxation on items in the online store and being able to set an override tax rate on registration types.

Adding taxation on extra charge items seems overly complex.

I would think one workaround until partial payments is available is to use shorter term membership levels. For for a year membership could be instead modeled as x month membership levels. So if you want a 4 payment plan subscribe to the 3 month membership level and you renew every 3 months.

Here's a way to create these "trial" memberships or smaller term memberships that will need to be renewed but make it affordable for people who don't want to commit for a full year.

There is a workaround that we document on our website here:

    https://www.newpathconsulting.com/2020/02/wild-apricot-cheat-sheet-10-setting-up-a-free-trial-in-wild-apricot.html

There is a PDF and a video to describe the setup of a membership level, renewal settings and renewal policy actions. It's a work around but we think it works well until there's a formal trial feature in Wild Apricot.

For me personally, this a great suggestion and I’ve been thinking about it for long time myself. Ideally, I’d really like completely redesign our membership levels to concurrent subscriptions model. Subscription gives you access to some information or provide privileges. There can be multiple ways of buying it – e.g. for a year or two, recurring or not, etc. Altogether, subscription-based model is very robust and easy to understand. Please, vote!

I see several areas of architecture in the current Wild Apricot system that could be affected in a serious way that requires deliberation:

    1. Access control to pages - I am active in level1 and level2.

A page has access control to level1 but NOT level2. Can I see the page because I am in level1? But I should not be able to since I am in level 2 as well. That's a conflict. What's my primary access control to this page?

    2. Access control to events - see #1

    3. Access control to registration types - see #1

    4. Membership fields - if you have membership fields for certain levels, I guess you would "combine" all fields from the levels assigned to you. I think there may be some issues here, still in terms of the UI as you are renewing one level - do you see all your membership fields or just the ones for that level?

    5. The cascade of dependencies on the API, mobile apps, pretty much every single part of the system.

I think the only really effective and reasonable approach that doesn't affect so much of the system to have a "federated" approach where you setup multiple WA sites for each chapter and have a single sign on approach that enables you to "traverse" across multiple chapters. Of course each could have multiple different levels, effectively giving a member the perception they have different levels. At least here you could sign in with 1 email and be "directed" to the site you want to access. It would be cool for the sites to be modeled after each other too. This is directly related to the multi chapter issues brought up in another thread that ended up being resolved as simply: use a separate site when you need a separate business model, payment mechanisms, levels and policies.

Use one site when all the branches are modeled in the same way. This breaks of course when you have 1 site and DO NOT want the overhead of separate sites.
