Allow members and/or conference registrants to upload file attachments - like abstract submission
Our academic society would find it extremely useful if members -- or better yet, conference registrants -- could upload files (e.g., Word docs, PDFs). This would allow presenters at the conference to share papers prior to the conference, potentially enhancing the feedback that they would get from other conference-goers. We would really like to provide this service for our members/conference attendees.
Dear supporters,
With the new release 6.18 version, we added the ability to create File attachments field for Common and Membership forms.
So now, you can collect documents/images from your members, subscribers, registrants. Members can share their documents with others via Public profile. You can upload files and download files right in contact, member or registration details.
If you have any ideas, requests how we can improve this new functionality, please share it with us.
More about this and other updates in our release notes: https://gethelp.wildapricot.com/en/articles/1665
Thank you for your support and have a good day!

Product Owner @ Wild Apricot by Personify

I think this is a different angle and will move this to another thread.

Something else that would be helpful and is tied to this is the ability to request some sort of document upload for proof of a particular parameter of membership.
We allow discounted student memberships, but require proof of current term enrollment in order to grant that level of membership.
Right now, we will email the person once we get the application to request the confirmation, but it would be great to have the ability to request a document from them in the application!

We'd like to have our member profiles include a video as well. An ad or anything they choose, even if it's hosted on Youtube or similar originally but includes a link to the video and a still image of it.

We would LOVE this option too! We use WA to manage our students' engineering design projects. Currently we have them just post links to the videos on their "member profile", which is actually their team project page. But being able to embed a video would be great. More options for the member profile page formatting would be awesome too!

Can you tell us a bit more - what kind of organization you run, what are those videos about/how long/common format?

Understood, thanks.

Here's the usual timeline of events:
* People submit abstracts for the conference.
* Abstracts are reviewed and then approved or rejected.
* People begin registering for the conference once they know they are approved.
* A conference program is built, with talks scheduled into time slots on particular days; registration continues (some people will delay on registering). So, including attachments on registration probably wouldn't help us -- at least I don't think so. (Unless there is a way for people to initiate registration -- sort of a pre-registration -- without committing or paying). People wouldn't want to register until they knew their abstracts had been accepted, and possibly not until much later than that. -

If we enable event registration forums to have "attachment' fields, would this address it?

This came up before - but I don't think anyone ever put together a comprehensive request on the wishlist like you did. This is greatly appreciated - and I am looking forward to see feedback and votes from others.

Awesome. This will work fine. Thanks for sharing the information. I checked the roadmap which indicates this feature is in the development queue. I need this feature for our next show (event) which has a hard open date of Sept 1, 2015. Is there any way in h-e double hockey sticks that you can get it released by then?

Scott, attachment field type is designed and now in development queue. See our roadmap http://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Product+roadmap for exact status of the issue
In scope of current issue we have focused on single scenario - uploading generic files in our online self-service wizards (e.g. upload a CV during application). So field will be available for application, registration and donation wizards, as well as in member profile.
Some more details in render below:
We do not do anything special for images http://forums.wildapricot.com/forums/308932-wishlist/suggestions/8825779-add-image-field-option-to-event-registration-form or document library http://forums.wildapricot.com/forums/308932-wishlist/suggestions/8825557-document-library-gadget-4827 here - please see related threads or roadmap http://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Product+roadmap for latest updates.

I know this has come up before but I am reposting because I have not seen any recent responses from WA and I would like to raise the visibility of this issue on behalf of all the folks that need this feature and especially all of the Art and Photography societies using WA, of which I am one, that hold several online competitions each year.
The following is a reposting of my response to Add Image Field option to Event Registration Form [7309]
"I agree Jeff. There are workarounds but they are very clunky and none that I have come across so far allows you to store the document/image or even a reference to the document in the WA database which would tie it to the registrant. It would go a long way If we could simply upload a file to a specified WEBDAV directory and store the file reference in the WA db with the registrant info. It would also be very useful if it were possible to specify the type of file (PDF, JPG, ...) and limit the number of files as well. I understand if WildApricot doesn't want to be in the business of storing all of these documents/images. So, why not publish a way to embed an external form such as WuFoo or JotForm in a WA event registration page and provide a way to pre-populate fields on the external form such as member ID, name, email address and so on. At least this would provide a way to link the WA registrant with the data and uploaded files collected by the external form service provider. btw - hijacking the terms and condition link is not what I am looking for. Something a bit better than that would do fine. The key piece here is the ability to establish a relationship between the event registrant data in WA and the external form data+file uploads. We must be able to tie these two things together in some way. Apricot Kernel, are you listening?"

i'm excited for this release in july! although, as i read through the thread more thoroughly, it looks like it's more for the member profile, rather than event registration. for example, rather than thinking about it as event registration, it's more a form submission where the submitter needs to also upload images of their project, and IF selected, would have to pay a "registration" fee.
currently, we use formstack, and process payment through there as well. but perhaps, our solution is just a mashup of formstack with WA, with WA processing the payments..

YES! We are desperate for this option for our members!
Administrators can do so, then in essence it just needs to be extended to members.
PLEASE :)

I would also like to see this feature made available. Our site is a place where artists can create a profile, and upload their works to that profile. These works are then accessed by an organization to review for grant acceptance. The member's photo albums works perfectly with one exception...you can only upload image files. We receive submissions from preforming artists as well. It would be nice to be able to upload video or sound files as well as photo files to a member's profile.

Yes, we desperately need this as well.

Adding a vote for this feature. In our case, we'd like to be able to attach a file to the member's profile so this would be an admin function. The member should be able to view the attachment but not modify it. Happy to share more details if needed.

Later, in 2015.
But not everything - initially we'll just add new field type (attachment), so you can set it up in contact or member fields and even make it required for new applications. Anything else like notifications, etc is not not part of the change.

This is central to our operation as well. Uploads would be Word or RTF documents (essays) which are candidates for publication in our journal. Documents should be visible only to the member who posted and to admins.
A log in the system if the file is changed/replaced would be great.
Notification to admins (especially a unique admin/admin group) when the file is posted/replaced would be helpful.
Activation pending the posting of a file, with the usual email prompts (similar to payment) "Your essay has not yet been submitted and is required for membership..." would be excellent.
I see this in the roadmap in Development, but beyond 5.2. Does that mean late 2015? Later?
Thanks.
