Generating membership cards and certificates
Current behavior:
Membership certificates/cards can be produced by running a search, exporting records and using something like MS Word mail merge
Desired behavior:
Ability to directly setup in the system layout and fields for membership certificates/cards and then to print them using common label formats.
Notes:
Details about specific desired formats/layouts/label sizes would be appreciated.
Hello, dear supporters!
This suggestion has accumulated many votes over years and is one of top 3 in “Members” category.
We’re happy to announce that the Membership Card is now ready for your use! Some of you already participated in beta-testing of this feature and using it already. We really appreciate your participation, time and feedback.
As all big threads, this one contains several suggestions. Some of them are covered in the release, some are not. Let’s jump into it.
What released: Members can download and print membership cards using the design you create with the templates provided. Once you design and publish your card, members can view, download, and print their cards from their member profiles.
What is not covered yet:
- Membership certificates https://forums.wildapricot.com/forums/308932/suggestions/8825803
- Certificates for attendees https://forums.wildapricot.com/forums/308932/suggestions/19171474
- Ability to put Barcodes or QR codes on the card. We are conducting technical analysis of this update. https://forums.wildapricot.com/forums/308932/suggestions/31925269
- Bulk printing or printing on plastic by using templates, like Avery, etc. https://forums.wildapricot.com/forums/308932/suggestions/31929016
- Including the card right into email templates. To notify members about the card administrator can email a link to the membership card by including the {Profile_URL} macro
And… What will be released very soon:
- Ability to put member photo on the card
- Administrator will see the card on the membership tab of specific member, to check it or print it
Check our help page for more details https://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Membership+cards
We hope you’ll like it. Please leave your feedback anytime by email, by using in-product feedback form and use Wishlist for sharing your new suggestions.
Thank you for your patience!
Have a great day!

having a facsimilie of a card with a serialized number printed on the invoice is a wonderful solution. The important part is for the "card" to have a traceable and unique serial number.

Agree with getting a 3rd party involved who can make a nice product and directly mail to the member. Would be nice if it has an expiration date on it pulled from their membership

I'm hoping that cloud MRM's like WildApricot will introduce value-added services like membership cards. Yacht clubs, for instance, need these cards so that travelers can access reciprocal privileges at other clubs; I expect that golf clubs are similar. I do this in Excel Hell now, doing a mail merge into Publisher, after which they are laminated. WA could let me (were I a subscriber) select names from the roster to receive cards, and have nice waterproof, professional wallet cards mailed to the members, or sent to the club for distribution, by a thrid-party printer. Same with neck hangers (some clubs use then so that we can remember the names of members we don't see often.) Or awards like anniversaries. Charge the club the retail price and WA gets the markup. Make some items like replacement. cards or upgrades be e-commerce.

I would like to see the ability for the members to print temporary cards as well. Is this something that Wild Apricot is working on?

What if they need to reprint it and how do you address formatting issues with different printers?
-

We produce a membership card by embedding the member's information using the membership renewal or membership activation emails generated automatically by WA. We format it so they can print and cut out for wallet size by folding it in half.

I would be happy to beta test it if needed. Thanks for your consideration.
-
Danny - Thanks! This is what we suspected but it means a lot more when we hear it from our users.

The simple answer is yes. Our members receive discounts with other organizations and they have to show proof. Plus it's a sense of ownership. They can say I belong to this group and here's the proof so to speak. Most organizations have a membership card. I would like to move away from manually printing ours and maintaining a second database for such.

Could anyone comment on why members want these cards? For example, do they need them to attend meetings or get access to other benefits?

We too need for members to be able to print their own WALLET size membership cards - both via an email (pdf?) and a card they can reprint themselves by logging into their profile on the website should they loose it would be fabulous.
Currently they receive a macro-containing email they are instructed to print. It prints letter size, few know how to print at a reduced size and everyone complains comparing it to the smaller wallet size they previously received when the previous administrator mailed out hard copy. -

The feature is in need . thank you! We also hope that members certificates could be seen in user directory so an employee could be sure that the certificates are valid. It could be also great if a member could have a direct public link to his or her certificate or embed to his or her resume, profile or socials.

This feature is the #1 requirement for our organization.
We hope that the design allows for our members to display and then if desired, their membership card. We want to avoid having to mail out (and then have to mail again when lost) membership cards.
Once we can move to a truly responsive template, this will be a critical tool there too.

Currently, we're looking at simply exporting the name fields via CSV export.

I'd like to second the request for this feature - or an API so that we can feed the data out to other application (InDesign, Illustrator, Zebra card printer, et al).

I too am new to WA (since last Fall) am in need of issuing membership certificates downloadable and printable to each member. I see this discussion and request has been active for about 8 years...why has this functionality taken this long?
If you can't get a system in place, at least give us the ability to ad links to member profiles so they can download certificates I manually make through a merge. If I could at least upload the PDF so each member could download their own certificate that would be a GREAT help.

If our membership can either print them on their own on demand as needed and get the new one automatically as a pdf with their annual renewal it would solve this major expense of time and cost.

Ability for members to print them on their own is important. Member profile screen seems like a good place for a "Print membership certificate/card" link.
Certificates need to allow for background images that will print by default (versus being HTML for which browsers, by default, do not print background images.)
Ideally, a certificate/card designer would be great with a choice of backgrounds, borders, sizes, templates to choose from and a place to upload custom border and background images -- like VistaPrint.

Regarding Badges, Certificates and Labels
Please see how it is done in www.regonline.com which is a useful and flexible system.
1, choose label and paper size
2. upload background image
3. add merge and text fields
4. select saved search and select badge
5. run and print
Or select badge and input single name, send to contact as email attachment
I see that this has been requested by users since 2008 and hope that you will be able to find a solution soon
best wishes
