Allow members and/or conference registrants to upload file attachments - like abstract submission
Our academic society would find it extremely useful if members -- or better yet, conference registrants -- could upload files (e.g., Word docs, PDFs). This would allow presenters at the conference to share papers prior to the conference, potentially enhancing the feedback that they would get from other conference-goers. We would really like to provide this service for our members/conference attendees.
Dear supporters,
With the new release 6.18 version, we added the ability to create File attachments field for Common and Membership forms.
So now, you can collect documents/images from your members, subscribers, registrants. Members can share their documents with others via Public profile. You can upload files and download files right in contact, member or registration details.
If you have any ideas, requests how we can improve this new functionality, please share it with us.
More about this and other updates in our release notes: https://gethelp.wildapricot.com/en/articles/1665
Thank you for your support and have a good day!

I work for the Association of African American Museums, and we need this functionality ASAP in order to streamline conference scholarship applications and the same reasons stated by this initial poster! Please make this happen ASAP!!!

I'm sorry for breaking your expectations. This is why we do not promise any dates now. When we start working on it we will change the status to "Work in progress".

I had previously been advised that the implementation of a file upload option, was on the WA roadmap for 2016, but there doesn't seem to be any update on an ETA for this crucial feature. Is it possible to please get some idea of when this might be offered?

Our organisation needs to have the functionality that allows members to apply for advertised positions. The means thay need to be able to select the advertised position, which will bring up an email which is automatically directed to a hidden mail address such as our admin address. The act of clicking on the advertised position should automatically open an email and load in the subject line the unique reference number of that advertised position. Finally and most importantly we need the respondant to be able to attach their Resume (probably word document or PDF).

We require a copy of a license to validate a membership. It defeats the purpose of having an automated membership registration system that requires a manual process of sending an email (actually over 500 emails :-0) to someone, that in turn has to advise someone else, that in turn has to validate the application. Having this simple feature would save us volunteers an enormous amount of work!

I would have thought the implementation of an option to upload documents in WA would be paramount. We are finding it extremely limiting not being able to offer this to our clients. We have also had to use external form building software to give us the upload option, but this then means data is stored externally and may not communicate easily with the WA site. Very frustrating.

Our organisation requires a copy of the applicant's university transcript to be provided. Our application form is online and that works fine but we then have this issue with obtaining the scanned document. At the moment when we ask that they send an attachment via email to the membership secretary. It would certainly be an improvement if we could have them attach that to their initial membership application so that the process is one step and not two. This issue has been raised in house several times in the last twelve months.
If there is a simple way to achieve this without needing a change that would be very good.
Thanks

Scott, to follow up on your latest comment to me:
The only thing we can promise is something that "work in progress" - see https://forums.wildapricot.com/forums/308932/status/1547997 . This means that this particular idea is in our immediate focus, we're designing or developing it now and results to be expected in some of the next releases.
The rest can change anytime and this is why we do not really promise anything and not providing timelines.
The best way to to move something in our development queue is to vote for an idea - which you all are doing. We use number of votes as one of most important parameters in our prioritization, but this is not the only parameter.

Same question here Alex. Producing the form is no problem. Do you have any pointers on integrating this into an event registration? Our challenge is finding a way to tie the event registrant to the files that are uploaded by the external form. I am not seeing a way to pass a registrant identifier to the form. Thanks for any pointers you can provide.

Hey Alex,
So are we able to integrate this "forms builder" into the WA interface or Membership profile? How does this work exactly...I am very keen to have the ability to upload PDF's I am actually looking at a few other Membership software management systems...that do offer this functionality and more...may be exiting WA soon. Thanks for the help Alex

For everyone wishing to upload files as part of a membership can I recommend an alternate approach. Instead of waiting for this feature to appear on the wishlist, you can build an equally useful feature by using a forms builder that allows the upload of files. It will be a separate database of information but there is a way to extend the functionality quite easily from a memberprofile by adding a form from a product like formstack.com which allows file uploads and can be "framed" into an existing Wild Apricot page or even profile page.
Let me know if you would like to know more and I can describe how we do this for our WA customers.

Thank you for your response Evgeny. But, respectfully, an answer of no promises after 7 years is not an answer. It is a delay tactic. Either this feature is on WA's to do list or it is not. At this point we have to assume that it is not. If I am mistaken please let the community of organizations on this thread know what we can do to help you move this particular feature to the top of the development queue. Otherwise we continue our analysis of alternatives that better fit our needs.

After building a Wild Apricot site for the Oregon Potters Association I have the possibility of building Wild Apricot sites for two other art organizations. This feature is key to those possibilities. I believe if this feature was added Art organizations would flock to your software. Wild Apricot has been great for the Oregon Potters Association so far, but this feature is noticeably missing and creates a messy admin process for us.
-
Scott, I understand your feelings and agree on importance of this particular problem for your organization, but there is nothing valuable I can share or promise right now.

WA customers have been requesting this feature since 2009. The ability to upload images/docs with event registration is FOUNDATIONAL to art society online art competition activities and activities of other organizations. Such activities are one of our primary revenue generators. We spend thousands of dollars every year on art jurying sites that could be going to WA or ISAP IF this feature were available. However, iIt's the same response form WA every time. We can only assume that after 7 years WA has no interest in developing this feature. WA is doing a great job just not for us ;-)

Hi Sue. Everything that we have in the Wishlist is just waiting for its turn. We cannot really say when something is going to be taken into development. The higher the number of votes, the more chances for it to happen faster.

What is the status of the functionality to upload files - is it being considered for development and if so when can the functionality expect to be available?
-
Bill Wilson commented
When we have new members applying to join our oragnisation they are required to produce a copy of their university results. At present this means that after application is first lodged we have to make contact with them to send an email asking that they respond with an attachment.
It would be much easier if the initial application form allowed for an attachment to be provided, this would eliminate one step in the process which causes us to lose some applicants.

Hello, we very much need this. Our members are artist that need to upload photos of their art work when they apply for one of our exhibitions.

Is there any update on when this option might be available with Wild Apricot? We have several clients who require this functionality for everyday business and it is severely limiting not being able to offer this.
