An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedReceived from a client:
"...Notes on webpages would be helpful or a running log of entries on the dash board as a way for us to track internal events/activities in our website management. Such as when we cleanup and reload a member list or add a new field to member profile. In that way we have some milestones to go back to in the event we screw something up. So far nothing happened but there are features we know about but don’t know how to use yet. And when we do try them it is with some apprehension that we could screw something up later that we did not anticipate. Having a log of what we did when would help us to close in on and correct the screw up. ..."
I would appreciate comments and votes from others.

An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedIt's not possible yet - but something we are working toward in version 5.0 - making the member profile customizable via Theme Overrides functionality (See http://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Theme+Overrides )
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedFormatting might be possible through CSS, but this is not trivial. You can create a mockup or describe what you are trying to do and contact tech support and we will try to see what can be done.
Alternatively, you can talk to one of our partners who help with customizations, see http://www.wildapricot.com/partners/
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedWhat you can do now is different fields based on each membership level, that's it.
I would appreciate more details - what kind of customization you are looking for by level / what's driving it.
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedNot sure what do you mean by browse list - member directory? IF so, it would have to be tackled separately so I would appreciate if you would create a thread to describe your thoughts on that.
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedThank your for your kind words! And we have many more enhancements and improvements in our queue!
I understand your point, though I suspect it has broader implications. Right now membership profile page is hard-coded - automatically generated from the set of membership fields. Moving logo etc. is just one aspect (and hard to do in a clean way on its own because of how fields can be customized). So I think we should look into more general issue - customization of the membership profile page.
I would appreciate input from other users on this.

An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedGlad to hear your first WA event went well!
I agree with your idea that potentially different membership durations can be wrapped into the same level - though this is quite different from how Wild Apricot is setup now.
I will move your post back to the wishlist concentrating on this particular aspect.
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedCurrently memberships of different lengths are setup as different levels. So in this case people would need to do a level change rather than renewal.
Let me know if this helps.

An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedMitch,
I understand - unfortunately we are focused on membership, events and CMS modules right now in our development work so blog is not likely to get any significant upgrades within 2011.

An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedLet's focus this thread on event location link to a map, which sounds like a good idea.
A quick implementation idea is to provide a second field near location 'Link to location map'.
About your second point - can you create a separate thread an elaborate? Event list does have event titles linked to event details already so I guess you mean some other page.

An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedGordon,
I am still not convinced that exporting dashboards is the way to go. Making dashboards exportable is probably as much if not more work that to create new specialized report from scratch and I am not sure people need exactly the same info as on dashboards (e.g. latest donations, top 5 least recently updated pages). I would appreciate comments from other users.
Re exporting Event registrations report - yes, for sure. I will add this to our work pipeline.
Re export of certain fields - there is a thread about this, it makes good sense. See http://forums.wildapricot.com/forums/308920-archive/suggestions/8834323-export-limited-to-certain-fields-5378
I think I understand your other point, except for "..Export as input to the summarization tool for further manipulation...", can you explain further?
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedGordon, I guess another way to look at this is to create reports (which would be printable and exportable to Excel and PDF like our new financial reports will be in version 4.0)
What are the specific reports/information that you would like to have?

An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedI would appreciate additional details/examples on this.
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedI split this out into a separate thread (was originally in member-submitted events thread) since we do not currently have any kind of event search so this should be addressed separately.

An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedWe would not go for non-secure solution for this so I think either this would only work for members initially - or login/self-service capabilities would have to be extended to non-member event attendees (which is a good idea long-term)

An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedInteresting point, this has not come up before.
Both comments talk about event admission benefits, is this the gist of the issue?
Anyone else has any other examples of member benefits that might be related to this suggestion?

An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedJosh - thanks for bringing this up. I would appreciate additional examples.
Looking forward for input from other users!
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedGordon,
I see your point but I would highly recommend creating a separate wishlist thread for this so it gets proper attention. Implementation-wise the dashboard screen and exportable customizable reports are very different - even though on high conceptual level they are about data. I would especially appreciate examples of reports you distribute.
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedOK, thanks.
I will repost your comment to that thread.
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedMike - thanks for a detailed comment.
We have been thinking about this problem from a different angle. What if we create new limited admin role for board members which would provide them with read-only access to data? Then they can see the standard dashboard but not edit any records.
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedGenerally I agree with you. Though I think much more important question is - what kind of modules people would want on the dashboard.
I would appreciate feedback from all readers.

An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedComment from another user:
"Currently we are using 3 forms: contact us, join a play group, and contact the "sunshine committee" (for families who need help from the community). We could use one to ask members to apply for Board positions. We have a link for non-members to request a complimentary newsletter--it used to be a form, now it is just a link to an email address. Other things come up during the year--forms to volunteer for events, etc. Also, with wufoo there is a limit to the number of fields per form if you're not paying them--on one of our forms, I had to eliminate a couple of fields just so we could use it."
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedTiffany, thanks for sharing!
Eveyrone, FYI - the correct link to the form Tiffany refers to is http://www.vastereducation.memberlodge.com/Default.aspx?pageId=1127247 (the one she posted contained a session ID so it has expired)

An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedThanks, appreciate the feedback. But creating a (user-friendly and flexible) custom form generate is not a low hanging fruit unfortunately :-)
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedFYI - you can add embed standard HTML forms or externally hosted forms.
See http://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Inserting+HTML+forms
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedI would appreciate comments from other users, especialy:
- specific examples of forms
- how form results should be stored/viewed.

For now, this is not something we’re going to change – not sure if ever.
Workaround to use: create a special “entry” free level to apply to, and close “normal” ones for application. For the entry level, create also a dropdown field where a potential member can choose a level they want to apply to. Add other fields you need to assess the application. When application is successful, your admin is to change membership level to required one and generate membership invoice (membership upgrade invoice). The member will be emailed with the invoice and can pay.Dmitry Buterin supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedOur current thinking is that this enhancement makes sense - but we have not scheduled this to a particular release so the timeline is unknown. Not in the 2013 though.
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedGavin, sorry - this is not currently possible in Wild Apricot - this is why it's on the wishlist.
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedI would appreciate comments from other users who have a similar need.
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedIt's semantics but they are not really bugs (unexpected behavior) but rather deficiencies of current design. We will create a separate thread re level change emails. Second one should be taken care of in our next release 3.5 in August as we are changing how payments are recorded.
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedThanks for posting Mike!
I would appreciate comments from others who want to use a similar workflow - approval before payment.

An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedThanks for the details, this does illustrate your case quite well.
Unfortunately for now this kind of setup does not seem to common among Wild Apricot clients so it does not look like we can promote this to our roadmap and do anything about this for at least the next 12 months, sorry. So you need to evaluate whether current Wild Apricot functionality with the manual workarounds it requires for you is a satisfactory fit for your registration needs - or consider alternative registration solutions.
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedJohn,
Sorry but most likely we will not be able to change anything in this regard before the of 2010.
Also, we are still trying to figure out the core issue here. We do have the ability now to register multiple people in one transaction:
https://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Setting+up+events
But apparently this is not addressing all cases.
I would highly appreciate as much detail /examples as possible to help us understand the key issue we need to address.
An error occurred while saving the comment Dmitry Buterin commentedJohn, thanks for posting.
Everyone - I would appreciate your feedback on this.
I think this would only make sense if/when we have online chat between members.
