Integrate login Into WA via OpenID [5374]
We are looking to use WA for our membership database, but we also run a seperate website for our organzation. One of the things we are looking at is using OpenID to allow 'single user login' to the multiple tooks on our site (Joomla, phpBB3, Gallery2)
OpenID would is normally optional, so that users can use a normal username/login to log into the site, or use their OpenID authentication.

I'd like to use OpenID to verify member/administrator identities for access to secured functions (like update their membership profile) without requiring the member to create a new (or reused) login/password combination. Most people already have an account with an OpenID provider (ie, Google, Yahoo, Faceook). I imagine using a login screen akin to the Sears example on the OpenID gallery:

I would love to see OpenID implemented - given that Wild Apricot seems to have a very long wishlist at the moment, implementing this would allow your users to implement some of their needs without having to wait on your roadmap, taking pressure off of you to develop this great software.

I believe there would be significant future benefit to Wild Apricot were OpenID available. Today, some Wild Apricot customers find themselves frustrated by the lack of XXX from the Wild Apricot platform. The XXX could be anything from a Job Board, to a Wiki, to an eCommerce store, to ... And the pressure to expand an association's web offerings will be never ending.
It would be imprudent for Wild Apricot to wildly add new XXX features. But the failure to make XXX available will turn some customers away from Wild Apricot to a platform that does offer XXX. OpenID would be a way to have it both ways. Customers can stay with Wild Apricot for the great things it does for membership, events, and donations AND turn to an alternative platform for XXX, but linked back to Wild Apricot via OpenID.
I recognize that relatively few current Wild Apricot customers may feel forced to abandon Wild Apricot because of their need for XXX (not available from Wild Apricot). But their ranks can only grow in the future. Think of OpenID as a controlled safety value.

I continue to think it would be a good addition. We are using a different forum because it is more robust than the WA one and so have to have two logins for members. Since I can't directly link the accounts, having OpenID for the membership management would simplify the situation enormously.

Oh! I just saw this. That would be awesome. The number one complaint we get from our members is that they have to remember too many login names. Having OpenID would greatly simplify our setup.
