RSVP - Simplified event registration
Current behavior:
Registration requires filling out online registration form.
Desired behavior:
In some cases this is an overkill and what is desired is Evite-style registration when people can simply click on the link in the event and be done with it.
Notes:
1) This would only work for people already in the database
2) This would only apply to free events
3) If there are multiple registration types - assign one as default? Force people to choose online?
4) Highly desirable - negative RSVP - when people say they can not attend.
Hello, dear supporters!
This suggestion has accumulated many votes over years and is one of the top 3 in “Events” category.
We’re happy to announce that the RSVP (we called them Simple events) is now ready for your use!
As all big features, this one contains several suggestions. Some of them are covered in this release, some are not.
What released: Admin can create the Simple event that requires only RSVP from registrants – one-click registration with Yes, Maybe, or No answer.
The simple event is very simple now :) Free registrations only, doesn’t allow for guests, registration limits and sessions. Some of these options are still important for you and required, so we will continue to improve our RSVP feature.

Thank you for your patience!
Have a great day!

Hello,
Thanks for putting this on the Roadmap. Any chance this feature will be implemented in 2015? Its good to see that others are also asking for the same functionality - it proves that this is a much desired feature to have.
My Club suffers from the same issues are other posters are describing. Implementing this feature is crucial for us to continue using Wild Apricot.
Best,
Maciej

I agree. There has to be a way to simplify this process for free events. It is too difficult for my ipad and iphone users. It is too complicated to setup and too complicated to rsvp to.
Plus, its too confusing to see the word "free" next to each registration type. We are a social group and we organize events that will cost monies to our members, but we are NOT collecting these monies. They are paying at the venue or in advance at the venue. Not sure why that word has to be there at all.
We need a simple way to setup a basic event with a yes / no / maybe response and a nicer "registrants" listing. It needs to show registrants by registration type. Which I am currently using for "Yes" " No" and "Waitlist". Right now because I am trying to squeeze a square into a round hole, it shows all of the types together with no differentiation so this information is useless. And because WA only shows 8-10 at time, it is not being used if the event has dozens or hundred+ registrants.

Please, please, PLEASE consider implementing this soon. My members are complaining that the registration process is too complicated, especially for free events. We want our members to RSVP so we know how many are coming, but it's a 3-step process for them to do that. This is made even more complicated when done on a phone or tablet - the final CONFIRM button is off the page and must be scrolled to, causing many of my members to miss this step. My board is wanting to switch to Evite for RSVP's - I can't let that happen!
HELP!! I can't keep pleading my case to my board to use WA. There must be an easier way for folks to RSVP for simple events: Just by email address (tied to their membership) with a Yes/No/Maybe option. Let's make it easy.
Now, for full on, paid events when we need all that registration info, the current system is great. But it's overkill for a simple headcount operation.

Many members would like to use the events registration page to regret attendance. Can a regrets button be added similar to Evite's? Thanks

Thanks for considering this.
Our main problem is with people who do NOT wish to attend. We need a quick and easy "RSVP no" capability so they will stop getting the event announcements, which is annoying. (We have over 900 people on our email database so it's not a small problem.)
As others have mentioned, if we make "not attending" a registration type then they get the reminder emails, so that work-around doesn't work.
We also put on a yearly event which has, in addition to attendees, supporters who pay even though they are not attending. They need to be registered, but it would be super if they could get a different confirmation email ("Thank you for your support!...") and not receive either the reminder emails. I know that's much more complicated though.

This is the registration feature we need as well. Most of our meetings are weekly with no fee. Many of our attendees refuse to perform the multi-click process now required to register. A one-click method, particularly with a link that could be included in the notice email, would be a terrific improvement.

It would be nice if we could add a registration type for an event that only ask people to RSVP – say something like “Yes, I’m coming, but I will pay at the door”, without generating an invoice.

It is in the Roadmap - see http://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Product+roadmap - we just haven't started analysis yet.

Hi,
My and my club are also very interested in the features described here. In addition we would also make good use of the following potenial enhancements:
- be able to RSVP with "maybe "
- Members quite frequently change their mind about the event they want to register for (IE cancel attendance, or update the registration with more guest names, or change from "maybe" to "yes"). The event registration for should specify the cut off date/time for such changes (we usually dont allow anymore changes two days prior to the event)
Thanks,
Maciej

I ABSOLUTELY concur with this. It seems to be a gaping hole in the event registration system. I have just set up an event for our organization for the end of September and am getting slightly annoyed e-mails from people who e-mailed that they can't attend but are nonetheless receiving the automated messages encouraging them to attend. PLEASE make this a priority!

We send several announcements for our events. We love that the system automatically does not send repeat emails to members who have registered. Is there a way to set up the system to allow a member to hit a button which says "I AM UNABLE TO ATTEND' and to have the system - not send repeat event announcements to this population?

having a box for members to click "unable to attend" can track regrets so I don't send reminders to those who already got the evite but cannot make it.

Ditto my organization to all the requests above. Just went live on the WA site in October, an immense improvement over Ye Olde Excel Worksheet membership management.
But we are finding ourselves struggling a bit with event registration, which was a primary attraction for our organization. Concerned that I see that this and other issues have been outstanding for years without being included - hey, add some developers or risk losing momentum. :)
Need: Field required for membership, but not for event, & Common Fields not included in Event Registration.
Solution: Able to designate Common & Membership fields as Event Registration Fields - and that needs to be flexible to change with each event.
Example: I have fields that all membership registrations must be required to fill out - but they are not needed and are immensely confusing for event registration.
Field example: Points category. This field is for our competitors, who accumulate points at competitions throughout the year for year end awards. We want them to designate if they are in the category for over/under age 40, etc. But this is meaningless for an event registration!
Field example: Bundle name. This is a Common Field that I can't move to Membership Field. It is *not needed* and *confusing* for event registrations that aren't members and aren't joining. I guess I can change the name during event registration - but what about the members who are renewing at the same time as event registration is going on?

We agree completely with the requests in these posts. Like it or not, we are all dealing with the change for our members in moving our organizations to this site, which has so many benefits for us. Still, we have to deal with the marketplace that exists. Many are used to Evites, and in fact, we were using Evites before our recent decision to go with Wild Apricot. So our Members are immediately unhappy with the number of clicks it takes to Register and their inability to RSVP they will NOT attend. Adding clicks to the email that go directly to Registering, or better, to RSVP'ing with the ability to respond 'No' is very important. This ability is so prevalent in so many of the event invite website options out there, that Wild Apricot seems out of date and stagnant. This is important. Please listen to your user base!

This would be great functionality, and would make events so much more user friendly. It definitely should be only for people already in the database. It is a way to simplify event registration if you already have the key information for that person/group It would not have to apply only to free events. You should be able to register for the event without having to enter any additional information, including registering additional people in your "bundle" (all at once, not one at a time), then choose the registration type for each person, then apply payment if necessary. I think it makes sense to force people to choose their registration type Negative RSVP would be highly desirable. You should be able to set up the event as a negative RSVP and be able to click on "Unable to attend" just as easily as saying that you will attend (this might have to be for free events only, though)
After reading this thread further, it seems that the desire might not be just to make the event registration easier by not having to enter in information that the site already knows. It might also be the ability to to click on an "I will (not) attend" link on an event announcement email, and have the registration automatically take effect. While that would be beneficial, I think that would only work in the simplest of cases. It would be best if that kind of link would take the respondent to the site, where they could log in, register themselves or anyone in their bundle, and then provide payment if required.
Looking forward to any of this functionality!

It would also be useful for us, if WA had a "regrets" option on the RSVP form. This way those who are unable to attend will not get future reminders.

Thanks for the input. This is something that we might start analysing / designing quite soon (but I cannot promise as things can change any time)
