RSVP - Simplified event registration
Current behavior:
Registration requires filling out online registration form.
Desired behavior:
In some cases this is an overkill and what is desired is Evite-style registration when people can simply click on the link in the event and be done with it.
Notes:
1) This would only work for people already in the database
2) This would only apply to free events
3) If there are multiple registration types - assign one as default? Force people to choose online?
4) Highly desirable - negative RSVP - when people say they can not attend.
Hello, dear supporters!
This suggestion has accumulated many votes over years and is one of the top 3 in “Events” category.
We’re happy to announce that the RSVP (we called them Simple events) is now ready for your use!
As all big features, this one contains several suggestions. Some of them are covered in this release, some are not.
What released: Admin can create the Simple event that requires only RSVP from registrants – one-click registration with Yes, Maybe, or No answer.
The simple event is very simple now :) Free registrations only, doesn’t allow for guests, registration limits and sessions. Some of these options are still important for you and required, so we will continue to improve our RSVP feature.

We hope you’ll like it. Please leave your feedback any time by email, by using in-product feedback form and use our Wishlist for sharing your new suggestions.
Thank you for your patience!
Have a great day!

In addition to formal events that require Registration and possible pre-payment, there are other, less formal Events where we do NOT want to pre-register attendees, but we DO want to get feedback as to likely number of attendees for planning purposes.
We want to be able to insert 'YES', 'NO', 'MAYBE', and number of 'ATTENDEES' clickable buttons in the email. Responses from email recipients would be totalled in 4 buckets containing the number of YES, NO, etc, for the specific event, and visible to Administrators only.
We want to be able to insert this YES/NO/MAYBE/ATTENDEES combo more than once in an email so that we can get feedback to specific elements of an event so that responders can indicate which component(s) they will/will not/may attend, and the number of attendees for that component.
This will enable the event coordinator to get a sense of the likely attendance and plan accordingly.

It would be nice go have an option where a contact can select "I cannot attend" the event.
Those people would no longer receive any reminder emails for that specific event.
Our members would like this feature so they can opt out of the additional reminder emails.
Thanks!

I would like to request that you implement an event setup option that would allow our members to register for events with one click of the register button, instead of having to go through the registration information confirmation process, which forces the user to click two or three times to register for an event. For some events, like attending a weekly meeting and dinner, we don't need to be so formal. We are just trying to get a head count of who will attend, and we would get greater use of the software if our members could simply click one button to indicate they will be there. As our members increasingly come from the younger Millenial generation raised on the Internet and smart phones, ease-of-use is essential. Having an option on event setup that would allow the registration process to skip the information confirmation would greatly improve the application and increase usage.

We just sent out an invitation to our annual meeting without requiring any type of RSVP. This was not the desired outcome, however. When it turned out that our members were asked to "register for an event"... our members became unhappy and complained. And with the Dec, 2011 changes in the software, the type of quick RSVP that I advocate has been made even more difficult and less "social". So, for us, we will need to find another way; that is, we cannot use the event registration functions unless we have a significant event where we absolutely need to know if folks are coming. Again, this is not very social-network friendly. You can read the full description of my initial question http://forums.wildapricot.com/forums/308929-general-discussion-and-questions/suggestions/8823520-event-registration-page-11704 .

This is the #1 request we have. Our members get very annoyed when there is no way to reply "No" because they still get announcements (and I get their annoyed email). I tried the usual work-around of creating a "no" registration, but that increased the count and didn't work for the hosts. The "maybe" option is really low priority, but a "No" RSVP is really needed. Our members (and event hosts) keep saying they "want to go back to Evite!"

User Suggestion:
When registering/RSVP’ing for an event. Members like to have three options: Yes. Maybe and No.
It allows for other members to see interest and when someone says no, they are not bothered by that event again. It also helps the organizer see if there is a lack of interest when there are more no’s than yes’s.
This is a big one that MeetUp uses. When members do RSVP others can see a profile picture next to their profile name. On MeetUp when you click on a specific event you see a column to the right that shows the yeses and no. Their names and picture is there. On your site there is an extra step by clicking on attendees and then all you see is names. Yes, I know that you when you click on a member you can see their profile. But, yet another step that members have complained about. I’ve been told many time members really like seeing other members picture in addition to their name

Our social club would love to have an RSVP (yes/no) functionality included. Right now, when there's only the option to respond yes, we have no idea whether the other members are actually not planning to attend or just haven't gotten around to registering yet.
It would also be great if, once someone has responded "not attending" to an event, that s/he would no longer be included on the distribution list for subsequent event announcements and/or reminders.

In our club it is usual for members to reply also if they cannot attend an event. This is considered a matter of courtesy towards the organizor's. We are non profit so our motivation is also supported by knowing that people cannot attend instead of believing our events did not catch their attention.
The purpose is that members who have communicated that they cannot attend, no longer get reminders to register attendance to an event. It is also the purpose that they do not show up in the event's public attendees list. And they should not receive the reminder a couple of days before the event takes place confirming "that they are expected to attend".
We tried to work around this situation by creating a registration type "cannot attend", but this one has the inconvenience that they still show up in the event's public attendees list and get the last reminder before the event takes place.
All members should of course be already in the database, and it's ok that this works for free events only.

It would be super if members invited to events could RSVP "No" and not receive the next 4 invite messages sent for the event.

This is exactly what I need.
We only use a single registration type for these events, so I can't comment on your question #3 above.
Not only negative RSVP, but also allow "maybe" for people who are undecided.
Thanks,
Mike

Yeah, people get really annoyed when they RSVP no manually and then keep receiving invites.

Would be nice if someone could RSVP that they ARE NOT coming to an event. I recently posted a membership meeting and people could only RSVP that they were coming. I then didn't know who saw the event but couldn't come.
I tried making an Unable to Attend registration type, but it still counts those people as attending.

A way of tracking event attendees that is less cumbersome than registering, and that displays attendees in an easy to read format, such as this:

In our organization, these sorts of adhoc and/or free meetings are not done often enough to warrant us asking for any special development effort to make this enhancement.

This function is especially useful for groups that work on the principle that all members are expected to attend events and only reply if attendance is negative. Examples are: Multiple classes in a sequence, Golf league or team sports events.
A very important related capability would be simplification of registering a group of members to a group of events - either manually selected or by member type.
I run a beginner's mentoring golf league to assist women in learning golf to establish business and professional relationships. Our golf league is set up for multiple sequential sessions of 8 weeks each. Members types are used to specify which sessions the members pay for. Then, within a session, each week is a different event - with separate reminder emails and attendance. The default behavior is that members attend all 8 weeks, but sometimes they have to cancel due to work commitments.
I have tried for two years to get members to sign up for each week. Every session, most new members just don't understand they have to do this, and I end up registering them after a number of email exchanges where the new member is embarrassed. It is very time consuming to sign 30 members up for 8 events multiple times through-out the year. Some members have been trained and do the cumbersome process themselves. Most experienced members just send me an email saying: Sign me up for all except June 10th - so I end up doing most of the registrations thru 3+ pages per person per event.
Also, our current policy for cancellation is to send me an email and I manually delete the registration. Allowing a member to cancel a free registration would be very useful.

It would be nice if the event emails sent out containing all the information required for an invite, would be sent out as an invite. Then users could simply accept or reject the invite. This eliminates the copy / paste required to have it in the electronic agenda.
The email regarding an event posting could be sent in form of an invite, where the recipient can accept it. The acceptance process still may take him to the wild apricot membership base.
Right now all the information has to be sent out twice: once from WA and once as an outlook invite. So the invite (event anunciation) could have an option saying add to outlook / send as outlook invite.
