Classifieds gadget (i.e. Job Board )
Current behavior:
Blogs or forums are repurposed to serve as classified ads/job boards, however they have serious limitations that prohibit them from being suitable solutions.
Desired behavior:
Self-service (e.g. searchable, browseable) classified ads system for members and visitors, with administration tools to moderate and manage entries/permissions.
Hi there!
With closing this thread I want to remind everybody that the Job Board product is available for all Wild Apricot customers with a paid subscription.
The application form is available on the 'Apps' page, in the main left menu.
Have a great day and happy new year!

Just to keep the topic current -- our organization would also like a job-specific advertising page. We are currently using the forum module, which works fairly well, but something with fields to be filled in by the person posting the position would be helpful for standardizing the listings.
Thanks for a great product!

It would be great if, like events, you could allow members to post for free or at a different rate, and non-members to post at a higher rate.

gmggraham: If you aren't interested in the revenue aspect of it, you might consider using a "blog" page to post jobs. That is what we are currently doing (ceany.org/jobs). Basically just use it like a regular blog but put the title of the position in subject line.

Not earlier than we release new CMS which is going to be a base for new modules.

Wondering when this one will be scheduled for WA.
We're really anxious to start a job board for our members.

We also are looking for an immediate solution for jobs posting and would prefer a WA solution as a gadget rather than having to use a work-around and third-party solutions.

I would definitely prefer a WA solution, but for the time being.. :)

This would be an excellent addition, b/c some associations charge our users for job postings, thus allowing the association to collect more revenue which we can in turn pass along to Wild Apricot when they raise their hosting fees (which is sure to happen eventually) for providing such wonderful features for their clients

I was using simple blog posts for my job board. However, I am now using Job Thread (www.jobthread.com) as a solution at the moment. I have used an iframe to display it on my WA site here: http://fphra.org/Default.aspx?pageId=1191917
This has been a great solution to a frustrating problem and I wanted to share with other members that are looking for a free job-board solution.

This would be a great addition to the current CMS. We use the Job Board as a member-only benefit, so a restricted access option would be great.
Since some jobs may have a PDF version of the job description available, the ability to upload a PDF attachment would be ideal.
At the moment, we are using the Blog Function to post jobs to our members and ask submitters to provide the following:
* Posted On:
* Expires On:
* Position:
* Company:
* Location:
* Pay Rate/Employment Status (PT/FT/Contract):
* Exempt or Non-Exempt Status:
* Description:
* Qualifications:
* Application Procedure:
* Contact Name:
* Website:
* Additional Information: -

That is too bad.
I am new to this, and the individual from UK, and the http://baama.org/jobs website have really neat options, but I'm just not at that level of ability.
Maybe a You Tube video on how to do it?

I'd appreciate a jobs module as well.
I had originally hoped to use the blogs module to manage our jobs postings, since they're relatively infrequent, and since it has an RSS feed, but at the time it didn't look like the "Add Comment" could be shut off, and we definitely don't want comments with job posts. I'll post more in the appropriate section.
We ended up just posting individual pages and handling them manually. My own organization is getting antsy about this as well, and I'm aware that other organizations in our position have gone with other solutions.

As Dmitry has pointed out, the Job Ads/Classifieds module is almost definitely NOT going to be done this year (2011).
So,I have been playing around with the idea of using a new "membership level" for Job adverts. This is what I ended up with:-
I created membership fields specific to this level that cover job ad related things such as "Job Location", "Salary Level", "Job Sector" etc. etc. These are applicable only to the Job Ad membership level.
Most of these are drop downs with limited values so that the Job Ad database can be easily searchable.
I then needed to "retro-fit" all the existing membership levels fields to make them only applicable to "real" membership levels.Next I created a member directory with just the Job Ads level displayed (and of course adjusted the existing membership database to exclude the Job Ads level).
First major problem encountered is the fixed "Member profile details" section in the member profile page which doesn't fit well with the Job Ad concept.
Now I can easily "hide" all the entries in that section and duplicate the ones I need elsewhere but unfortunately that doesn't remove the Member profile details section divider itself.
However, after a little digging around in the HTML haystack I found the entry I needed and have been able to change the text to read "Contact Details" which I hope is generic enough to fit with both "normal" member levels and the Job Ad levels too.
Ideally I'd like to remove that section divider altogether if all fields within it are hidden; the WA CSS/Javascript wizards may be able to look into this for me as I've not found a way yet.Anyway I have what I think may turn out to be a useable Job Ads section. Ads can be posted by members, authorised by site admins and will be active for one month and then automatically archived (if not renewed).
Email renewal notices etc will go out 1/2 days before expiryThere are a couple of areas within the site where "membership level" or similar wording is displayed but I imagine it won't be toooo difficult to find and change these to something more generic via javascript.
I have a WA test site I'm using as a work in progress, (HERE http://jobs.roundtablelive.org ) feel free to have a look and pass comment, all suggestions welcome!!
Obviously there are drawbacks in using this method, not least of which is the potential impact on member numbers and therefore on monthly costs...

This would be a great addition!!! especially the RSS feed for Classifieds. Currently we have a classifieds page but it is not dynamic. We don't charge for advertising but it is a benefit to our members. Any way to enhance the usability of this feature is greatly appreciated! We would definately want to option to make it free to certain member level and maybe limit the number of postings each level gets per year!

This job board/ classified module would be very valuable to my organization. All of the work that WA is doing is great, but I do hope that this module is brought out sooner rather then later.
Cheers.

Ian,
We have decided to prioritize this lower for the moment - there are too many other things we want to improve in existing functionality before we add new stuff.

I have been asked this week about the possibility of a "job ads" section on our site. This thread has been going for ages now and there is a lot of current interest.
As it has been on the Roadmap for six months or so now, any idea when this might be implemented??

My organization is very interested in adding job posting section and given the unemployment problems, a resume posting feature would also be very popular. I am looking into the following job board site which looks like it has all the features necessary:
I certainly would prefer to host this service on my wild apricot site but we need this service in the near future.
Thanks for your consideration.

I would like to submit my vote for ability for the self-serve job ads module. I will be looking for another solution in the meantime.
This would be a great feature!
