PDF for the official tax Donation Receipt
We are just in the midst of switching over to wild apricot and I was very disappointed that when donations are made there is no option to send the official tax receipt as a PDF as it is not secure to send it as an email since it is too easy to change up the donation amount and date ect. Our current system sends an email after donation had been received thanking them and then letting them know they will receive a their tax receipt in another email attached as PDF please see email below
Dear xxxx:
Thank you for making a donation in the amount of $xxxx in support of the Canadian Organization for Rare Disorders.
If your donation was $20 or greater you will receive a second email with an official tax receipts attached.
Please print each receipt for year end tax purposes as a paper receipt will not be issued. Should you have any questions or concerns about your receipts, please contact the Canadian Organization for Rare Disorders at (416) 969-7464 / 1-877-302-7273 or info@raredisorders.ca.
Regards,
Canadian Organization for Rare Disorders
Any charities I have donated online have always provided the official tax receipts via PDF. Due to this problem I am now going to have to create the official tax receipts myself and email them out as PDF or send them in the mail anytime someone makes a donation to us online through wild apricot which is time consuming when wild apricot is supposed to make my life easier.
If this could be updated I think you would be able to get more charities of a clients.
Thank you
Hilary
We have released the functionality of directly getting PDF of financial documents (Invoices, Donation receipts) in recent 8.10 release. As of now it's just a PDF of email, but we plan to make it separate customizable document in future versions.

I think this is an important feature, though admittedly, I am not sure that there is any requirement from the IRS in the US that 501(c)(3) organizations send tamperproof receipts.

I agree. The pdf receipt is important.

5 years and still no joy? How tough can this be?

This a feature is must for 501c3!!!!

This is absolutely critical. Wild Apricot should have implemented this long ago! Email receipts for donations do not have true legitimacy - this is a problem WA!
-
No, this is not implemented yet

Was this feature added to Wild Apricot?

Yes! We would also like to have this!

I have members also requesting a receipt for membership (We are a 501c3) and donations. Would be an valuable addition to Wild Apricot.

Great idea. It would also be useful to have a unique receipt number for tax-deductible memberships

Hilary has a good point. We still mail tax letters but electronic versions should be secure from tampering.

And I'd also add the ability to show advantage value on the tax receipts in line with CRA requirements. For example funds received, part is for a membership and part is a donation, the membership amount should show as an advantage amount and the donation is shown as the amount eligible for tax receipt.
Without these two features we will surely be leaving Wild Apricot
