Photo Album - add ability to change order of pictures
When I set up my first album after the new release, I was amazed to find that there was no way to sequence photos that had been uploaded to an album. Via a support ticket I learned that to use the albums to tell a story about an event, one has to preplan all of the photos then upload them in reverse order of the desired display!!!
Other applications I have used allow drag and drop positioning of photos (just like you do for pages in the site manager) or entry of sequence numbers for each image.
With over 20 clients now on Wild Apricot, I really need this capability. Though they are all excited to have the album function, training them to use it in this configuration is a bit much.
I hope this post will get enough support to raise the priority on this enhancement.
Released in version 5.7, see http://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Release+5.7

Interesting - I do not use the photo album feature - but do use the slide show feature and slide show very nicely displays the photos in alphabetic sequence. irrespective of the name of the photo in the slide directory - I just prefix all my photos with 00 thru 99 in the name and as such control the sequence.
Would expect that if the slide show gadget already supports this that it would not be that difficult to apply the same logic (few lines of code) to the photo album gadget.
Ah well - there I go fantasizing again.

This would be a great feature to be able to rearrange photos. I have photos from events sent to me and it would be awesome to drag and drop them to their appropriate spot in the album.

WA uploads photos first one in, last showing. I'd like it to load first one in, first showing.

Yes, this is an important feature. It could be as simple as just showing them in alphabetical order just to get started with this functionality. This should be one line of code added! THen at least we can add images to be shown at the front without having to reload 100 photos. Then work on a nice interface and all the drag/drop etc stuff that takes more time.

karenh, I understand your frustration, we're just focusing on something else - we have requests with 50+ supporters.
We'll get here at some point, just cannot do everything at the same time. (And I do understand, that this requests has been here for quite some time) -

I agree 100%. Over a year ago I made the same request. We are beginning to explore alternatives. This is a major flaw.

In our development queue - but not at the top. See http://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Product+roadmap

We have been on WA for a year and love most everything about the site EXCEPT the poor photo album feature. Seems like the site would be used by more if this hang nail would be corrected.
Since it has been more than 4 years under going comment, one wonders if it will ever happen?

There needs to be an easy way to rearrange photo order, preferably by dragging and dropping. You don't always want the photos in the reverse order that they are uploaded.
I do not want to have to delete photos and reupload and recaption just to get them in the desired order when new photos are ahead of older ones but some of the older ones are more important and still need to be at the beginning of the album.

Everything about our schedule and plans is described here - http://forums.wildapricot.com/forums/308932-wishlist/suggestions/8827717-roadmap-2015-plans-releases-expected-dates
The information is always up-to-date and we can add nothing more.

Any ETA?

My two cents: This would be a VERY important feature. Much time is used reordering the pictures. I hope that Wild Apricot implements this as soon as possible.

No, sorry - we are struggling with our 5.0 release, see http://www.wildapricot.com/blogs/newsblog/2013/08/28/wild-apricot-software-news-august-2013

Now that 2013 is coming to a close, any update on this enhancement? I would like it too.

Hi Cam, I understand the sentiment - unfortunately we had to address a number of major changes and enhancements recently: full redesign of how financials work; adding emailing/tracking functionality, now the next big one is CMS redesign. Due to all these, many smaller enhancements had to be put on hold - so we now have a huge backlog. Unfortunately the situation isn't likely to change much until mid-next year after we launch the new CMS early in 2013.

Dmitry, I started this thread in October, 2010. It has now been another year since you made this response.
It is apparent from the other postings that I am not the only one who wants and NEEDS this capability. As a partner with a bunch of clients, I wish my request would carry more weight.
I have just launched a High School Reunion website and I believe there are now 10 photo album pages with a multitude of photos in each one. It has been a tiresome task to have to pre-plan loading 50-75 photos in each album in reverse sequence. When new photos are submitted by classmates, the page has to be reloaded entirely. Ugh!
This is a niche that I believe could be huge, but I am not tackling another one without the ability to manage the photos in an album.
I don't know how hard this is to do technically, but being able to load a sequence number for each picture and just adding a secondary index to the database for the display would work for me. If something else is easier, that would be fine with me.
Thanks,

I completely agree. I can't believe this functionality doesn't already exist within Wild Apricot. Uploading photos in the correct order is too difficult of a way to manage a photo album. Without this functionality, it nearly renders the Photo Album functional page useless. This is particularly true when you have a larger photo set that you're allowing. This functional page allows for up to 60 photos to be displayed, per page. But how is one to manage those 60 photos if you can't rearrange the order of them?

The ability to arrange the order of photos in the Member Photo Albums would be great. Our Wild Apricot website features artists. Images of are essential in promoting one's artwork; if an artist makes a new body of work and posts it to an existing photo album, this work ends up at the end of the album, despite the fact that it is more current.
In the end, the process becomes less streamlined (members will end up wanting to add more photo albums in order to accommodate their new work). This creates more steps for our members and the public to take in order to view someone's full portfolio.

I'm raising my hand high on this one!
I've looked for a reply but found nothing.
Has this question been addressed?
Thank you in advance,
