Limit for Guest Registrations
With events you can now set up Registration types that can allow multiple of "guest" registrations. At the present time the only limit put on the number of guests is as part of limiting total registrations for events.
However, some clients have mentioned that they would like to limit the number of guests who can come to an event. I can think of two ways to do this:
* Limit total number of guests for the event - If you don't want more than 50 guests, then you set this limit at the same time that you set the registration limit for the event.
* Limit total number of guests for a registration type - 50 total guests can be submitted by people who register using Registration type "Gold"
- Limit total number of guests that any registrant that can submit along with their registration - Each registrant cannot bring more than 2 guests.Thoughts?
Released in version 6.4
Now the administrator could limit the number of guests.

Judy - thanks for sharing. This is something new, to limit guests per year per member level.

We need our members to be able to register free guests and paid guest for meetings. We would also like for members to be offered the registration options of free vs paid guests depending on what they have already used for the year. Example – Our “regular members” get one free guest per year and our “3 person corporate membership” gets 3 free guests per year, “4 person corporate membership” gets 4 free guests per year, etc. If they have used up their free guest passes for the year, they are not offered the free guest option when registering.

I just ran into this problem. My group is having a very large event and they want to limit registrations to "Members" +1 guest at the discounted price and every guest after that at the full price. But, it doesn't seem like there is any way to do this.
At least if I could limit the number of guests per person that would save me from the problem we are currently having, people registering 10 guests at the discounted price. Now I have to go and invoice evreyone for the multiple guests that are signing up.

My organization would benefit greatly from this feature. I hope to see it in the near future.

We have added limit number of registrants per registration type in 5.1, but not limited guest registrations yet.

Is there a way to limit the number of guests a member can sign up for an event. For example, we would like to allow our "corporate" members to sign up to five employees to events at the membership rate, but after that they would need to pay the non-membership rate. We would like to allow our "individual" members to register up to one guests at the membership rate.

It would be really nice if we could limit the number of guests a "participant" could register for an event.
We have an event where we are encouraging groups to come together to. We are charging $500 for a team of up to 4. (so if they register 1, 2, 3 or 4 people, you pay $500).
We then charge $100 for each person past their 4th group/team member. As things current stand, they can register an unlimited number of guests under the $500 price (so they can register 8 people for $500). I can make changes on the back side but it would be nice to have it automatic

We too could use a feature to limit guest registrations as well as to apply a different price for for various types of guests. We have similar programs with tables of 10 which provide a discount over registering 10 individuals, free attendees for sponsors, and a golf event which has foursomes. Hopefully this will be available in a future upgrade. Thanks,

This is something I could really use as well - better yet, the option to specify the number of registrations for the different registration types (eg members vs non-members), rather than just an uppper limit for the entire lot.
cheers

this is something we need as well - one guest (or a given number of guests) free and then additional guests at an additional cost.
This function would help us better serve our sponsors - those who provide significant funding for the organization (and our ability to have this service!) - where we could offer a certain number of complimentary registrations with their sponsorship. At some point, we have to stop that, but currently there's no ability to do this.

I believe this goes along with http://forums.wildapricot.com/forums/308920-archive/suggestions/8834755-limit-number-of-event-registrations-for-each-regis (limit number of attendees per each registration type)

Kerri, also, in your scenario - please tell us a bit more:
- people should never be allowed to register more than 1 guest OR you want to offer 1 guest for free and additional guests for an extra charge?

Kerri, thanks for posting.
I would appreciate comments from other users who have similar needs.

I was speaking with one of your Apricot support people and they informed me that what we wanted to do couldn't be done but that you are currently going over your event section to make changes. He suggested that I send an email with my own suggestion for a change that would be of value to all your clients. When setting up an event recently I wanted to limit the guest registrations to 1 per registration but that option is not currently available. Last year when we set up our conference we had an issue with people registering more than one guest even though it was stated. This option would be highly useful to us and we would appreciate you having a look at this function.

This is something our club needs. we have events like golf, which have foursomes, however for some reason people frequently sign up 5 players. This messes up our counts in the attendee summary, and if we miss a few of them, can wind up costing us a lot of money....

Hello,
Unfortunately it isn't possible to limit the number of guests that an attendee can add. A work around would be to create 3 separate events for Gold, Silver, and half table. Then, on the registration form of each event you would add 5 or 10 text field to collect the name of each guest that would be coming.

Hi,
I would like to know if there is any way to limit guest registration for each registration type. My organization will have an event where each registration will be for an entire firm instead of an individual. A couple samples of the registration types:
Gold sponsor: $5000 for a table of 10
Silver sponsor: $2500 for a table of 10
Half table: $750 for a table of 5
So I was thinking of setting up the registration types with guest registration enabled with a fee of $0. But there's no option to limit guests per registration. Is there a way to get around this?
Thanks!

Yes! please!, We like this idea....
We have lots of event where at a level of sponsorship you may ad a guest, but there is a limit...
It would help us out to have this defined by WA and managed by not allowing people to bring multiple guests rather than calling them after the fact to give them the bad news :(
