Limit for Guest Registrations
With events you can now set up Registration types that can allow multiple of "guest" registrations. At the present time the only limit put on the number of guests is as part of limiting total registrations for events.
However, some clients have mentioned that they would like to limit the number of guests who can come to an event. I can think of two ways to do this:
* Limit total number of guests for the event - If you don't want more than 50 guests, then you set this limit at the same time that you set the registration limit for the event.
* Limit total number of guests for a registration type - 50 total guests can be submitted by people who register using Registration type "Gold"
- Limit total number of guests that any registrant that can submit along with their registration - Each registrant cannot bring more than 2 guests.Thoughts?
Released in version 6.4

Our organization has a slightly different guest limit issue: we have limits on the number of guests that a member may bring in per month. These limits are mapped to specific membership levels.

Our organization holds an annual golf outing. We have a registration for selecting a golf package type. We have a single player, twosome, threesome and foursome. A registrant will register for a foursome for example and we will need to know the names and addresses of the other three players in that foursome. We would like to consider them "Guests" when the the registrant is registering for the foursome. After he registers himself, he then continues with "Add Guest" button which will bring him to the same info field to fill out. He continues filling out all of the players in this way. Nothing is charged in this way because I have set the guest pricing to "Special Guest Pricing-" $0.00. What I would like is a way to set the number of guests for each registration type to be limited. In the case of the foursome, the guest limitation would be three. presently, there is no way to set a guest limit per registration type in the same event.

Yes, we need to have a way to limit the number of registrations for an event per registrant. Right now, the only way to limit it is at the event level, but we might want to allow a registrant to be able to get a max. of XX tickets to an event.

We would like to have a limit on the number of guests a member can bring to an event. This should be allowable on an event level basis. And on a member level basis (not total guests per event), but each member may bring 1 or 2, etc.

I would strongly support a limit for the number of guests that a registrant can bring to an event. Each year my organization hosts a gala dinner, and it would be really useful to allow each member to bring exactly 1 guest to the dinner.

Need to be able to limit the number of guests allowed based on membership level. E.g., Gold members can bring 2 guests; Silver members can bring 1 guest, etc.

The event admin should be able to set the number of guests per member. Otherwise the system does not prevent members from bringing their entire workplace for an affordable excursion with our club ;)

We have family memberships, so we would like a registration type that pays for 2 member (e.g. husband and wife). That should count as 2 persons in the total persons registered, so we could put a limit on the total persons (including guests) who can be registered for an event.

I'd definitely would like to see a cap on the number of guests one can bring. We often just want "member +1 guest" (friend, spouse, etc.). Guests need to continue to be counted in the overall event total.

We need this functionality.
For our events, each membership type is entitled to #X registrations@$A and #Y guests@$B. -

Would really like to have the option that you can only add one guest per registrant.

We do events with sponsorships which include X number of guests at no cost and then a discounted rate over that number. We would like a way to limit the number of free guests and then charge if they register more than the free. The number of guests varies by sponsorship level

Judy, this is different - I have added your vote to another wishlsit idea.

We'd also like the ability to set a MINIMUM number of guests, so that we offer group discounts for groups of, say, 4 or more.

We''d love to see this -- we have lots of events where members can only bring 1 guest and it would be very useful.

Is this still not possible? We have events where we let members bring one guest, but there's no way for us to limit that.

For our sponsorship registration each level is allowed additional registrations, however, currently there is not a function within the registration form that allows for us to restrict the number of people they are actually registering. We would love to see a way to set-up a registration that we could allow them to register a certain amount of people.

We have an annual conference each year in which vendors are allowed to have display booths. Booth space cost varies by size and location. Each booth is allowed to have a number of guests included in the price. We need to be able to limit the number of booth spaces sold as well as the number of guests to be included with the booth.
In addition, we have an awards dinner each year where a table can be funded by an individual. We need to be able to limit the number of tables sold as well as the number of guests to be included with the table.

We need to be able to have an overall limit to an event and then each registration deduct from that. The problem we are currently facing is we want to be able to sell tables of 10 for example for a set price and also individual tickets. When we currently sell a table it only takes one from the allocation not 10. With a limit on guests, we could give each person who purchased a table 9 free guests they could bring. These would all be accounted for by the system.

My organization often needs this functionality. We need to be able to allow members to add up to N guests for a given event.
