Installments / Payment plans for events and memberships
Could Wild Apricot users offer their members an introductory trial rate for, say 30 or 7 days, followed by, say quarterly or six-monthly payments to spread the cost over the year?
That is very helpful during a recession, when many WA website users will find revenue dropping as their members cut back. To be able to spread payments looks very attractive to new prospective members: four quarterly payments of $10 is much easier on the budget than one payment of $40.
The introductory trial could be free, or at a pro-rata cost for 30 or 7 days. During the trial the member can cancel and either pay nothing (free trial) or pay just the pro-rata cost (low-cost trial). If he doesn't cancel, the next payment kicks in and is renewed automatically for each period chosen.
So a typical membership trial would look like one of these:
Free 7-day trial. Then $10 quarterly until cancelled.
$3.00 low-cost trial for 30 days. Then $20 every six months until cancelled.

It's been 6 months since anyone from WA commented with an update here. Guys, can you please give us an ETA on this? I see that you guys already have the payment processing in place, and that you are now offering payment plans for MEMBERS. When can we expect a payment plan option for EVENTS? I'm trying not to have to migrate to another software system, but without a release date in sight, we may have to. Please let us know. Thanks.

To Team Payments - addressing the beast of installment payments "later" will probably be too late for our club. We are looking to abandon Wild Apricot in favor of other vendors (Club Express and Sports Engine). This is a MUST HAVE capability for us that Wild Apricot has chosen to ignore for the 2 years we have used your product. Too bad you think this is a "humorous beast".

Making Partial Payments on a invoice for our membership is a critical component for out organization. Our process is the members typically make an initial downpayment of $100 then make partial payments throughout the year before a predetermined deadline.
We are considering NOT going with Wild Apricot until this functionality OR a workaround can be found.... We are willing to do a workaround in the meantime, but we are unable to identify one AND support has not been particularly helpful regarding this issue. -

Allow multiple payments for events. We offer a number of trips for our members, ranging in price from a few hundred dollars up to almost $10,000. We offer a down payment of $100 to hold a place on the trip and then offer between one additional payment to pay the balance, or for the higher priced trips, up to four additional installment payments. Because Wild Apricot doesn't support multiple payments, we have to find "work around" solutions, which normally ends up being manual tracking. ?Although, I am looking at our credit card processor for a solution, too.

It would be great if you could adjust the amount due on a payment against an invoice, rather than being required to pay the full invoice amount. We typically allow our members to make 3 payments over time for a trip and that is not currently supporting in the system.

Would suggest that a relatively simple solution would be to invoice the full amount, but when member makes a payment through PayPal, first present a panel with the full amount owing, but allow the member to edit that amount and make a partial payment.

We would like Wild Apricot to allow for a deposit payment and a balance payment without manual intervention. We sell expensive workshop classes with well known visiting artists. To secure a spot, we require a deposit of $100 and then balance is due 6 weeks before the class. Currently we take the deposit though Wild Apricot and then handle the balance payment manually. It is a lot of manual work for each of these workshops. We would like to add more in our schedule but can't until the installment payment feature is available

It would really help us out to be able to allow a deposit payment and then later to pay the balance due without having to manually enter it. We offer some classes that are expensive and our members want to split the cost between two payments. This would make Wild Apricot a more valuable resource to us.

Perhaps the request is too broad to implement at once. I wish WA could handle at least a Deposit payment and a balance without having to manipulate the Event and or invoices. Multiple invoices?
Thanks -
Tennis, thanks for keeping an eye on Wild Apricot improvements. Installment payments is a separate beast from what you have mentioned and will have to be addressed later.

Sorry to keep commenting on this thread, but after reading about the new features just released, it looks as though the framework for this feature is being worked on (WA released their own payment solution and recurring payments for members). It would seem like this is a step in the right direction to lay down the framework for payment options for events. Can anyone at WA confirm or comment please?

Some non-profits run events through the course of a year. Sometimes it would be beneficial to spread to payment of registration fees in installments.
The preferred action for an event would be to issue an invoice automatically, send it via email, and then allow online payments.
I guess this would be like a recurring payment. -

I have some members that would like to pay their monthly invoice in two installments (i.e. on the 1st and 15th of the month), so, instead of me having to create new invoices every time, it would be nice if they could just make a partial payment.

Our club is looking at other solutions because of lack of this capability. Wild Apricot has not done anything in the past 2 years, so don't choose WA if this is one of your requirements.

Thanks Oleg. When you receive a timeline, we would appreciate the heads up. The feature is so critical for us (Installment payments for events), that we are starting to look at other software options altogether. We love Wild Apricot, and would like to continue using it, but really need this feature. Thanks again.

Is there any update on the roll-out of this feature? We are desperately in need of payment installment options for all of our events (monthly, split etc...). Each event we run spans 18 weeks for a price of $360. Parents have asked to pay monthly instead. It would help drive attendance for us if we could offer this. Thanks!

Installment payments would be great, but are probably time and cost consuming to add to your programming. At the moment it would be great if a registrant could simply be able to access the 'Registration types' that can be set up with any amount. Our club has already set up 3-4 types for each trip we offer, so a person could make whichever payment amount they can afford. Would it be difficult to allow a registrant to have access to those?

Installment payment is an essential component for our registration process. My vote will be to decline Wild Apricot unless that functionality is guaranteed to be available before April.
