Allow secondary/alternate emails for members
Current features:
Each contact/member (company or individual) can only have one email that is used to receive messages.
Desired features:
Allow contacts/member to have multiple emails that can be used to receive emails.
Sorry for the late update.
The first step was finished and emails can now be carbon copied to contact’s alternative emails. To do so the contact fields which store the alternative emails must be explicitly marked on the email setting page.
Unsubscribing will unsubscribe all alternative emails simultaneously because they all belong to the very same account. The person clicking “unsubscribe” is warned about this on the unsubscribe page.
For now we paused the development of this feature. but not for good. :) So I’m changing this wish status back to “collecting comments”.
Thank you everyone for a valuable feedback.

Thank you, this will help us so much! We have organizational/business members that certainly have more than one contact, and turnover in our industry is high, so if we lose the main email, we lose the organizational member. Thanks for prioritizing this!

Thank you: one secondary email per contact will solve 99% of our needs! And for the other 1%, creating an additional contact isn't that big of a deal.

Very much looking forward to this. As a school, we have had to create duplicate family records just to allow for both parents to receive the newsletter from WA. Agree with the note below about separate opt-in/out for each address.

Adding 1 secondary email per contact would be FABULOUS! This would save us so much time in merging records and mistakenly telling members to renew when their "other" email is still an active member! Thanks for pushing this to the top of the development list!

Thanks! One secondary email address would satisfy our club's needs.
Please provide user profile settings for each email address to separately opt in or out to:
Workflow emails
Event announcements
Email blasts
Subscriptions -
We've merged two big threads because the requests in those threads are very much alike. We have just began the analysis of this feature and most probably the 1st step of development will be adding 1 secondary email per contact record.
Stay tuned for more updates. Cheers! -

It would be great if people could have multiple email addresses associated with their Wild Apricot account. We just reached out to our contacts who were not members to ask them to join and ended up having several current members join a second time. It is embarrassing to have to email people to say that we made a mistake and need to refund their second membership.
It would be great - since almost everyone has both a work and a personal email address and many of our members forget which one they used to connect with us!

There are often 2 contacts for 1 member... make this happen!

We have the same problem. Users forget which email they use for their account with us, and then when they sign up for an event using an email new to us, they end up creating a duplicate contact that is not part of the membership bundle. This is a huge problem for bundles, as our bundles are set to only allow 20 contacts per membership and assigning multiple emails for one person ends up taking up extra spaces.

I'm not sure why this is requested. We put a second email on our profile form and can easily use this email in addition or instead of the primary email.

We would like member records to include an additional email for sending invoices to. Is this not an option in WA? I am new to using WA so if it already exists, please point me in the right direction. Thanks!

It seems like this should be an easy fix! Can we please get this feature ASAP?

This would be GREAT - it has been the one feature causing us the most difficulty as most of our members have at least two emails. Perhaps a second consideration... making the "user" more than just the email address. For example we had individual and organization members. sometimes the individual member (and their email) is the contact for the organization - which then uses the same email... but we need them to actually be 2 accounts. Perhaps if an account was tied to the name + email, then using the same email would be possible even for 2 different accounts.
We are loving LOTS about Wild Apricot - but this has been a large challenge for us.

It's a shame that in 9 years this issue has not been solved. I would have loved to keep using Wild Apricot, but it is not possible for us to do without this.

We are a Classic Yacht Association and really need a way to send email blasts to more than one person. We have many members who are dissatisfied with only one member of the partnership receive emails.
Our situation is that we have co-owners of boats who live in different places, married couples who have different last names and each need to see the information, and people who live together with different names and different emails. It seems to me that this could be done easily if we could add an email string divided by commas in the first email slot which is the one that is picked for the blasts.
Thanks for your consideration. -

We fully agree with this, as every one of our 600+ members would like the ability to have more than one email on a file and not have to set up a separate member file just so that they can get notifications of events sent to different members of the family etc. I think part of solution would also be NOT to have the email address as the user name , and put the ability to have additional emails or cc email addresses in the customers contact information area. Almost every other program that I work with that has a contact information area has this ability so I do not understand why this cannot be done with WA. I hope it can and I hope it happens soon.

"This is becoming a seriously big issue ... Please, please, please, move this up the list!"
The most recent update is that this particular idea is a part of 2017 focus on Email Development team in Wild Apricot. As soon as they have some progress here, they will share it.
I'm very sorry this this is a big issue and we haven't had any progress over it. -

This is becoming a seriously big issue for BOTH organizations I represent. Both use WA and both need - really NEED - this feature.
Here's the problem at the first organization:
Because we have family memberships, the primary email address goes to one spouse/partner. As a result, only one of them receives emails. So the other spouse/partner then signs up as a "contact" which does two things:
1) inflates our contact list, causing us to go over our 500 allocation every few months, until I am forced to archive out all the spouses which just gets them all angry and me and at WA for the lack of features, and
2) still prevents the spouse from getting all the emails anyway because quite a few only go to "members only" so then I get complaints that WA isn't working properly.
Here's the problem at the second organization: We have group memberships purchased by companies but the individual memberships need that second email because they lose their membership and event history when they change jobs and emails. This has created a record-keeping nightmare when trying to sort it all out. We are all volunteers - none of us get paid for all the hours of sorting that happens and we're having serious problems trying to recruit volunteers to help because NO ONE wants to do this kind of manual clean-up on a regular basis (which it has become).
Honestly, I'm tired of defending WA on this and at this point, I can't recommend that anyone move to WA if they need this feature - it's become that big a problem for us. This was something that you had on your development list for all of 2015, you moved it to a Q4 2016 release, now you've downgraded it. Why? This has a lot of votes, you have a lot of reasons and examples of why this is needed. Please, please, please, move this up the list!

Why isn't this done yet???? We are a Chamber of Commerce and each business is a member but there are multiple contacts within each business that we need to receive emails. I called tech support yesterday and they said no way to do this and no workaround.
We absolutely need to have more than email per member to email. The school district for example has 5 people who like to receive the email and most businesses would like 2-3 employees to receive emails as a member.
We need an update on when this will be fixed, added as a feature for mass mailings. Thank you
