This is HUGE for us. We currently hold a new member orientation on the second and fourth weekends, two sessions per day (8 sessions for the month). We need to have the members be able to register for the ONE of the eight sessions. It's a HUGE pain to create each session as a separate occurrence.

That 'repeat' events would also have 1st 'x' of month option along wiht a set date. This would cover regular events held on (for example) first weekend of a month or third Wednesday of the month

@Amy - we have the same issue and I have a workaround for it.

See our yacht club's page at http://tyc.org . We have race, cruise and social events. Each of those categories is an event tag. The tags are used to display the appropriate events on the corresponding page in addition to the main calendar.

These one-off events also appear in Upcoming Events on the home page.

For recurring events, I use the tag "recurring social". These are excluded from Upcoming Events and get their own upcoming gadget right below. That solves the problem you mention.

I am not seeing the problem reported by Anonymous.

Is there a way to get only the most current upcoming event in the series to display in chronological order with the rest of the events? Right now my recurring event is bumping the most timely upcoming event from the top slot in the widget on my website.

Events needs some added features. We have regular monthly meetings that should be reported in Upcoming Events. As it is now if you enter multiple dates the meetings is posted in Upcoming Events with the oldest date. This is confusing to those who wish to attend. The options should include reoccurring options for daily, weekly, monthly and yearly reoccurring meetings or events similar to online calendars and email calendars.

The released functionality ALMOST solves my organization's need — a small tweak to the existing functionality would solve.

Could you make it possible (say with a checkbox) to suppress the system generated label of (x of y sessions) that is presently automatically appended to the name of the event?

I could/would use the existing functionality for truly RECURRING events, not events that are comprised of multiple sessions....which is what the existing label-append makes them! :-)

I have had many requests to be able to limit registration in multiple event registration feature. Example: (and this goes along with the suggestion about being able to choose which session you would like to attend)....You have morning and afternoon sessions - within those sessions your attendees have 3 options and each option has a limited # of persons that can attend. Version 5.6 Multi Session Events.
Great new feature Guys but has a significant deficiency for multi session events requiring attendees to register for specific sessions. i.e not all members attending all sessions.
Example: A conference with multiple sessions covering subjects not appropriate to all conference attendees.
OR
A sporting competition with multiple sessions requiring different attendees registering for different sessions.
Options Boxes for "Register for all Sessions" "Register for Selected Sessions" would add significant flexibility to the excellent new feature.

We so need this! We have community clubs and societies who are desperate to get their monthly events on the website and to do it we have to sit there and post them all seperately, or are we missing something?

This must surely have been the most requested element as most communities have monthly events for members rather than courses with multiple sessions?

Recurring events...
Need ability to setup recurring events with the following conditions:
1. Event Admin is able to setup a recurring meeting on the first Monday of each Month. THIS IS POSSIBLE
2. Ability to define a different location and time for each recurring events
3. Members must be able to sign up for each event.

Essentially I would like the ability to quickly setup a year of board meetings ( in which all members are invited to participate / or a member group is invited to present)
Meetings happen at different locations.

This would be great for us as we run training courses on multiple dates throughout the year. i.e. the same course is run on various dates. I envision having an event page set up in which a user can select which date they want to register for..similar idea discussed below with the checkbox

The original wishlist request which was posted back in 2008 and supported by 95 users asked for (amongst other things):- Ability to automate the process of creating repeat events, not sessions. Shame that this has been overlooked. Surely it would be a simple matter to provide both options. And I sincerely hope we don't have to wait another 7 years.

We would love this, it encourages registration for several sessions in a series or the whole series at once. I'm envisioning something like a checkbox for each session with a (discounted) "sign up to all" option.
I can see this can be complicated and hope you can get it off the ground.

Our old web site uses Calcium from Brown Bear Software. This has a simple interface for repeated independent events.

When an event is created, an optional repetition can be specified, as you do for Scenario 1.

When a multiple instance event is edited or deleted, there is a choice to edit or delete the current event, all the events in the series, the current and all subsequent dates, or the current and all previous dates.

If an edit or delete affects multiple events, any previous changes made in those events is lost. The edited version replaces all the specified instances.

The only drawback is that if some future dates have been removed from the series (for a holiday, for example), changing the series puts them back. But you could handle that case better.

The addition to these changes would be to have multi event registration possible at the first one so that one could offer a different fee for registering for one, two, three, etc. in the series at the beginning.

ex: book all five and save $50 off the individual registration fees.
