Smartphone access (iPhone,Android etc.) - for admins
Any chance we could see an iPhone app for Wild Apricot? We'd love to be able to check our members and event info that way?
Actually, I personally would prefer an Android app for my phone. But I'd be happy to get an iPhone app for my iPod Touch as well.
Anyone else interested?

Our organization would also benefit from having the member directory available via their mobile device. That would be #1 on my list. We don't have many events that require registration so that would not be a huge priority for us. I don't envision doing many administrative tasks via my Smart Phone. I've used some of the administrative function on my small tablet (Kindle Fire) and it seems to work fine.

Excellent! I also agree with stanleyfelix http://forums.wildapricot.com/users/86837689-stanleyfelix . I'm correct in thinking that you would role it out in a stepped manner? If so, this brings me back to prioritising. For me, the priority would be connecting the members to the public via the member directory. I appreciate that everybody would have different priorities. Looking forward to 2012!

Hi Dmitry,
when you say
"
What particular functions are most important for mobile access?- for public visitors
- for members
- for admins
"I'd say all of these are of equal importance.
It would be nice to let end-users "on the go" register for an event right from their phone or tablet and perhaps manage their member profiles.
From an admins perspective, the most important feature to have while on the go is being able to search and manage member records, check to see if any new members exist and see who has registered for any given event.
But instead of spending time developing an app that is platform specific (ios, android, BB OS, etc.) I think everyone will mostly benefit from a mobile web friendly version of WA built on a compliant and reliable mobile framework, this way everyone can have access regardless of OS/device and you only have to maintain one code base.

The person who wrote this is on the money! I greatly agree with every statement made in his or her post.

We expect to roll out some first steps within 2012.

Great, is this something we can expect to see rolled out in the near future ?

Thanks - yes, our thinking is around a mobile-friendly web version, not about building OS-specific apps.

We have very little interest in this function - would much prefer to see a lot of other facets of the system improved before this is implemented. For example, at the moment SEO (or tyhe lack of it) on the member directory is fast becoming a very hot topic for us

Mobile access is one of our priorities for this year. Key question - which I would really appreciate input on - is:
What particular functions are most important for mobile access?

I feel member directory/events app on Android/iPhone platforms are a must for 2012 and beyond...the number of devices out there has leapt forward dramatically in the past twelve months and they are here to stay...do you feel you have judged the prioritising correctly on this one?

We're also looking forward to a mobile app as well!

It's been a while since someone asked, so Where are we in getting access as administrators using Android smartphones? Members are interested in entering forum info using smartphones as well.
Thanks for all you are doing.

Do you envision just reading the information - or do you really want to make updates as well?
What are the top 3 most frequently tasks you see being done from the phone?

I would like to be able to log in to the administrative side of things from my Adroid-based smart phone. I often need to be able to get to Events, Members/Contacts, and documents functionality from my phone.

Sorry, for now we are prioritizing it below dozens of other things we have to deal with first - so there is no progress on this yet.

Dmitry,
Has there been any progress on the mobile front? Either an iPhone, Android, or Blackberry native application... or (more easily) a mobile website?
We have had a significant number of members request 2 specific features:
(1) Mobile access to our membership directory to look up other members while on the road
(2) Mobile access to event registration (both sign up and event information)
These features would be a huge benefit to our members and organization. I would appreciate an update on this.
Thanks!

We have been considering this - an alternative idea is just using a web interface (especially since in our next version 3.4 we will support Safari and Chrome - though editing would not work on iPhone, only viewing.)
