Ability to select recipients for event announcements [5260]
For my nationwide webcasts, I LOVE being able to have the event announcements and reminders automatically go out on certain dates. It saves me so much time and effort. Thank you for this feature.
However, for my regional events I'm not able to use this feature since it will send the announcements and reminders to all my members, instead of just members in Boston or the Bay Area for example. Isn't there a way to set the announcements to only send to members with keywords - the way you can set keywords for events you should be able to set keywords for members or have the ability to select states and/or cities that the announcements go to. Please, please, please help me find a way to do this as I do an event in many states nearly every month and it is a huge time killer keeping up with it all.
Released in 5.3

Any idea when this will be rolled out? In the documentation under event emails it states that the announcements are sent out as according to the event settings. My registration type is filtered by member year, but when I sent the event announcement it sent it to all my members which can cause a big misunderstanding because the event registration only allows the current year to register for this particular event.

I would also support the development of the ability to utilize saved searches for the event e-mails, by event e-mail: i.e. if we can send three separate announcements to three separate recipient groups that would be ideal!
But just to have the ability to define the recipient group for specific events from saved searches would go a long way! I note that this has been on the Apricot radarscreen for quite some time now and am wondering on the importance of this item versus others?

Can you elaborate? it's not clear from your comment. Filter where? In the list of sent emails?

I would like to be able to filter my automatic event announcements by group, membership level, or both.

Sorry, no target date.

I would echo that sentiment. It would be a great enhancement to target only specific groups (Wild Apricot 'groups' or saved searches or only certain membership levels) for certain events.
Because of this limitation, staff is having to track recurring committee and group meetings and do manual reminder emails.
Any target date for implementation?

I would like to have more options/check boxes for Announcement E-mails for events. Just like when I send e-mail blasts, I would like to have the option to send the announcements to specific membership levels, specific groups, or saved searches.[/quote]
Agree. Would be a great enhancement to target only specific groups (Wild Apricot 'groups' or saved searches or only certain membership levels) for certain events. Members get cranky when they get emails that don't apply to them too often. We gently tell them to just click the delete button in their email, but........... they still like to complain.
Any target implementation date for this yet?

Ben,
I merged your post to existing thread.
About your second point - we do have a feature for adding to calendar:

If you meant something else, feel free to create another thread.

Our association is looking to be able to send out invitations to group members to attend specific events. These are events that will require the members to register, so we were hoping that by sending them out through WA the registration form could be pre-filled and prepped for them to just log in.
If there could be an option to email a specific group from the event management tab, that would be ideal.
Another feature that would be fantastic is the option to add to calendar upon registration.
I know that there are workarounds for this, but we are looking for the membership to have a one click registration once the email has been sent inviting them with the specific registration type.
Hope that all makes sense.
Cheers.

While I love the idea of further customizing how we can send out automated announcements and I hope that comes, I really want to be able to send an automated event announcement to ALL MY CONTACTS.

I noticed at the end of the thread that this feature is scheduled for release 4.2. I have to say that I am excited to see it!
You are doing a great job with WA. Each release has consistently seemed to add a new feature that is desired, or made a process more streamlined and user-friendly. Thank you!

We're an artist group just converting to Wild Apricot. We need some of our announcements to just go to active regular members and signature members (two of the 4 membership types). Sometimes, if it's a public event, we want it to go to all members -- the other two types are corporate sponsors and just plain art patrons. Being able to have the option to send to all or just certain membership types is important to us.

Mike,
Because of the magnitude of changes in the financial system we had to postpone many of the features originally planned for 2010.
Information on the next release is always available here:
http://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Release+history
And yes, release 4.0 was a huge exception - 6 months vs. our usual 2-3 months so we are going back to smaller releases now. Next release 4.1 will be out in January.

I am getting confused about the roadmap and feature implementation schedule. Earlier posts on this thread said this feature would be implemented in 2010. It was not included in the September release (which, by the way, included very few features I found useful), so is there a release planned before the end of the year?
I understand you need to prioritize features based on the needs of the majority (as well as other factors) but it would help to have a list of what's going into the next release and when that will be.
Also, maybe it would work better to have more frequent, smaller releases.

I would want mine to go to all my contacts. Naturally, if they have opted-out, they wouldn't get the email.

There is a very good reason that announcements should not go to all contacts: they have not all opted in to a mailing list. This is good practice. If what people are asking for here is implemented, I hope it will be optional.
What would be cool would be to exclude people from announcements after they have signed up for the event.

Jennifer, there is no special reason, just something we did not get to implement yet. We will do this, but it ha snot been scheduled yet.

This is concerning. How are you able to tell that event reminders are not going to everybody. Have they potentially opted out of those emails?
I'm trying to convince a client to move to Wild Apricot. One of the key features that I have promoted are the automatic reminders for both events and and renewals. Is there a reason that auto event announcements would not go to everybody other than them opting out of emails?
