Accept onsite credit card payments - e.g. using Square Up
We hold an annual conference and accept onsite registrations. Currently, we are able to register attendees onsite in Wild Apricot and then we email them an invoice so they may use a credit card to pay online. We use PayPal for our online payments. We are wondering if we would be able to link our payment system to one of these little “square up” card readers that you use with an iPhone so we can just swipe cards rather than ask people to complete an additional step by paying online.
Square integration implemented in mobile app for administrators. You can find detailed description here: https://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Accepting+mobile+payments+using+Square
PayPal Here integration was moved to separate topic. If you prefer PayPal Here integration, please vote for it here: http://forums.wildapricot.com/forums/308932/suggestions/18077188

I'm in the beginning stages of launching a business that would require keeping track of memberships and now I'm conflicted. I LOVE using the Square Up interface, the POS system they have looks absolutely fantastic and I'm fixing to order one soon. That said, Square doesn't have what I need as far as keeping track of members or taking recurring payments, or all the other fancy stuff I'm attracted to in WA. I want to have the best of both, but there's a link missing between the two. I'm not wild about having to manually reconcile recurring membership fees (taken via WA) and POS transactions from Square Up.
Please say that you're still working on a way to link the two! :D

I also would like to see Square as a PayPal alternative to invoicing AND onsite payments.

There are lots of similar stuff happening over here however seems like this is not the time for the payment industry to look for upcoming technologies..but to get the act together reduce risk cost and increase revenues. Technology should help focus these priorities.

I'd like to add my vote to adding the capacity to "swipe" a persons card and have that swipe machine capacity integrate with WA. It makes onsite registration incredibly slow and awkward to either have them fill out a paper form with their credit card information and manually key it later or have them stand there and wait for us to key their card information into the connected merchant service portal we use for WA. We need to move people quickly and we can't mess around with manually keying cards. If we could just set up the system to create the invoice, then swipe the card and then have that swipe process and update the WA records, it would be fantastic. Not only would it speed up the process, but it would also result in significantly lower merchant fees as swiped cards are super cheap compared to keyed cards. Hope you can look into this.

This is quite critical. In order for us to get a merchant number we must have six months of charges and that's why we really need to connect to square. Please add as an option.

Allow card readers for Iphones or laptops so that credit cards can be swiped at events and not have to be entered manually

It's quite high in out Product roadmap http://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Product+roadmap , waiting for its turn to be analyzed and designed.
Nothing will happen until analysis starts and I cannot really estimate when it starts.

Using square to accept onsite payments is missing link in an otherwise great program. What can be done to push this forward?

Add Square Register to the list of supported vendors.
I am a very small chapter and chose Wild Apricot for member and event management. However, our preferred payment vendor is Square Register and we are not switching to the significantly higher priced vendors who are supported by Wild Apricot. Please consider adding them ASAP. Other--similar--website users should support this as it is more cost effective than the current list of supported vendors.

Mobile application for admin is discussed here - http://forums.wildapricot.com/forums/308920-archive/suggestions/8834701-smartphone-access-iphone-android-etc-for-admi
First version will not support credit card payments from mobile devices.

In Nov. of 2013 it was said that a new iPhone app was going to be released. Has that happened? And if not when? I really want to use on site card swiping for payments.

We are working on our first mobile app, expecting it next year.
See http://forums.wildapricot.com/forums/308932-wishlist/suggestions/8826631-mobile-app-for-members-register-for-events-searThough, connecting our app and Square is not yet in our plans, but as soon as we have our app, we will take this into account in out planning.

Our Club has used Apricot for a number of years with payments running through PayPal. Times are a changing, and there is an app for almost everything. It would be great to use Square as a CC payment gateway in addition to PayPal through an Apricot smart phone app. Can't you just see that beautiful apricot on your cell phone. We could use on the fly when lugging around a computer is not practical. Not only would it be useful for selling but quickly checking membership status, updating records and other club business. Is this in the future or better yet, under development?

My understanding is that using Square would require WA to have an iOS app - which is not in our current plans yet (we decided to go with a mobile-optimized backend as a first step for now)
So I don't see it feasible for the moment for us to integrate with Square - though I might be off the mark, would appreciate insights from people actually using Square.

I, too, would love to have the option to use Square. We're presently thinking of upgrading our entire system as the laptop and phone we currently use are getting old. Having the ability to simply have an iPad there with a reader to swipe the cards and send the receipt via email to the user would be terrific. Although not ideal, WA isn't too clunky on the iPad.
Always keeping you on your toes!
