As a sporting organisation we very much need something like this to cater for age bracket competitions.
The suggestion below (Evgeny Zaritovskiy) that "the only choice is to place you and other members into special membership level" is simply unacceptable, as it would mean:
1. Disrupting established organisational processes AND confusing the hell out of existing members.
2. Requiring (in our circumstance) no less than 11 different membership types - and without some sort of age verification field the potential for every member to make 10 different types of mistake! - see point #1.
This suggestion has been around for more than a decade in more than one thread - are you going to do something about it or not? A simple yes or no answer would be greatly appreciated.

We also need to be able to offer unique event registration types for group members. Any updates on adding this feature?

Our members can pay an additional charge for access to certain online events.
We would like use WildApricot events for these video conferences but we need to restrict access to members who have paid for them. For this reason we would like the ability to limit registration availability via groups so we don't have to duplicate each of the membership levels.

Please give us the option to set registration types by group in addition to, by membership type. I already use Wild Apricot for my paralegal association but would like to start using it for a non-profit charity. It's so close to being the right fit (for many charities, I assume).

The capability to do this is available through use of a password, but that is awkward. We would rather have a simple way to create a limitation on who can sign up. Further, we would like to put a numerical limit on some groups, while allowing different limits or unlimited registration by other groups.

Would be great if we could restrict event registration availability by Group, in addition to membership levels (under Events/Registration Types/Availability).

This way, we could have the event visible to all on the events calendar (for scheduling purposes), and create a group with invitees across multiple membership levels, who would be the only ones permitted to register for the program.

We offer for current board members, committee members and volunteers the ability to get into our events free. Right now we are having a problem of people passing the codes onto other people. It also means I have to set up or change codes to every single event. It would be so easy to have an event registration type that allowed only people in that group to register for free, that way if they stopped being available to volunteer or left a committee, I could simply uncheck the person out of the group and they couldn't register for free anymore.

We have an annual volunteer party, where members that volunteered get free access and are added to a volunteer member group. Members that did not volunteer must pay to come to the event. With this feature we could use only one event registration but have two registration types: one free to all membership classes (but in the group) and one to pay from the same membership classes but not in the group. Currently the only way to handle this is to have 2 identical events but the free one only view-able by the volunteer group. Big problem is you now have two different identical events that can't be managed as a single event.

I have events where only people with certain certifications (group memberships) should be able to sign up. I can create registration types that are limited to certain membership levels, but I cannot further limit them to members of certain groups.

I cannot enforce these rules by event access permissions, because I want all members (and even those not logged in) to be able to see the detailed description of these events on the calendar so that they are enticed to attain these certifications and engage more deeply in the club. And I want only one calendar, again so that everyone can see every event.

Restricting event registration types to match specific content of a common field. For example: "Member Competitor" registration type limited to "D2 or D3" in "Certification Level" common field or whatever value specified when setting up the Event. [It wouldn't work to put them in Groups because the members change Certification levels constantly.]

Richard, do you mean how do you hide a membership level on the events registration page? You can go to Registration Types, "Edit" and then "Disable" that registration type. That will let you still manually register people for it but it won't be available from the event registration page.

unfortunately there is no currently a way to limit/hide specific registration type by group - only by level. So in your case the only choice is to place you and other members into special membership level.

But your point is very good and I'll move this thread into our wishlist forum - so everybody can leave a comment and vote.

I think that better approach would be adding Groups into Registration type settings.

Now they have only Membership levels, but if we also have groups, then you can setup registration type availability much more flexible. For example, in your case, "certain member of our organization" will be part of some group, and you will have special registration type that is available fro this group only.

Would it be better solution for the problem?

I'd like the ability to make event registration availability dependent on both membership type, and also requiring a registration code. Currently it is an either/or item.

Reason: Our workshop committee has set up some workshops that are only for certain members of our organization (and thus require approval before registering), but the payment levels are still tiered according to membership levels (different prices for different membership levels).I've suggested that they set up different registration codes for each membership type. However, this has resulted in some members using a different email address than they registered as members with, and so they were being charged an incorrect amount.

Did this feature (restricting visibility of events by group) ever get into the product?

Our requirement is that we have members (umpires) of different "ranks". I want to open up certain events first to certain groups, then broaden registration to a larger group (giving preference, in effect). Most members are the same "Level", so I can't use that as a filter.
