Managing email subscriptions to forum updates
Current behavior:
Members can subscribe to receive updates about forum posts by email - by going to the forum and clicking on a subscription link in that forum or topic
However, there is no way for administrator to view their subscription status or change it.
If administrator wants to subscribe them manually, the only way is to log in under member's profile (so he has to know the password) and subscribe to forums as if he is this member - very crude workaround.
Admin can only remove subscriptions from member records.
Desired behavior:
- Allow administrator to subscribe member(s) to one or more forums and edit subscription options in member record (subscribe and unsubscribe)
- Add forum subscription to the membership application page, including default subscription settings

I agree, it would be nice to see who is subscribed to a forum.
It would also be useful to see posts by each user - like in these WA forums when you click on the user's name and it brings you to a page with a tab that shows all of their posts. That is how I found this post; I was reading it in the general forum where Dmitry asked Chuck to repost it in the wishlist. So all I had to do was click a couple links instead of searching the wishlist forum.

We'd like to see this feature added too. Most of our member/users are not savvy enough to know that they have to "subscribe". We'd like to be able to have the option of setting the default for all member/users be "subscribed" to all forums, blogs, etc.
Thanks.

Hi,
Is there a way to see either the number of addresses and/or the actual email addresses of those subscribing to a forum?
Currently there is no way of determining the number of readers.
Thx

Would like a way to see a list of users that are subscribed to a forum? If not the list, maybe a count.

FYI - we are also planning a feature to pre-set which forums new members are automatically subscribed to.

Jim, I'd really like to see this as a feature -- the ability to bulk-set all the members to be subscribed to the Member Forum. This would be the preferred default, then if the members did not want it, they could unsubscribe. The way it is now, we have to rely on them going to the site, and hitting subscribe, which most of then cannot be relied on to do, even thought they would welcome the regular updates. I'd like to see this on the Roadmap. thanks

I like the idea. Engages participation from the get-go. Then if they choose to opt out fine.

We'd love this. We are switching form yahoo groups to the forums for our inter club communications. It will make our lives easier, because we won't need to manage who's subscribed or update email addresses for the yahoo group. I created all the same forums as we have yahoo groups, but have no way to easily assign a certain group an automatic subscription.

I would also like to be able to do this. We're looking at using a forum as a form of a newsletter so that there's a permanent record online as well as something that members can subscribe to.

We do not have this yet - but it is being considered for the future.

As the administrator, when I create a new forum or update an existing forum, I'd like the option to subscribe my members to this forum, either individually or as a group.
Is this feature/option available now or do you have it as an upgrade coming soon, I hope? Thanks.

It is currently not possible to change the forum subscription settings via import. For all the possible bulk changes you can make see making bulk changes http://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Bulk+changes+using+import+and+export .

Jim,
is there a way to export and then import the forums subscriptions that are shown in the member profile?
Thanks.

This sounds like a good idea. Let's hear what other clients think.

I'd like users to be able to opt-in to a job forum and maybe other forums on the membership application form.
Can you include a feature to make the forum subscription component of the user's profile visible on the member's app page? I would include it on the database field page, as if it were a system field.
(It would also be nice to be able to query on this field when doing email blasts. Ideally you could set these flags for members as appropriate during a data upload.)
I'm ok with requiring them to be opt in, though some might request the ability to designate the default as checked or unchecked for each forum.
For our purposes any membership level that has privileges to the forum should be able to opt in on the membership app.
We can kludge this via a custom database field and do email blasts via queries, but that would not sync with the forum subscription button on the forum page.
Thanks

You can export your database, make bulk changes, and then re-import it back. See https://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Exporting+members+and+other+contacts and http://forums.wildapricot.com/forums/308920-archive/suggestions/8832130-auto-emails-turned-off

Initially, I added members to the database and did not have them all checked to receive emails. I now want all members to receive email. Is there a way to make the change universally, or do I need to go to each profile and edit?
