Uploading documents and photos in forum and blog posts
Is it possible that you could correct the function of the forum and blog pages to not only allow someone to add a link, but also to add a document to the page?
What downfall is there in providing this function?
Update from CMS team:
Happy to announce that this request was released to all clients in version 5.17
Members can now attach documents and images when adding or replying to a forum topic.

This thread also contains comments and requests related to inserting images into Blog posts. We decided to separate it to own thread and continue to collect your comments there. Please vote and leave your comments:

I realize this is an ancient topic but posting pictures on the WA forum would be key for our club. It would allow members to post pictures of the many events we hold during the year and would go far in prompting others to join our club.
We spend a lot of time doing activities outdoors and frankly, being a fly fishing club nothing sells the club more that the promise of beautiful places and big fish.

Yes, that is an option my members would like to have. Linking to photo albums such as flickr or smugmug

Sorry, not possible now - they need to give a link to the site.
I'd like to hear comments form others if this is good feature to have or not important one.

This would be a great way to work around not having Committee functions. Currently, it is manual at best. Please Hurry!
Thanks.

We continue improving Wild Apricot forum module and have just finished designing adding files and images to forum topics. See details in presentation below:
Our current progress is available in Roadmap http://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Product+roadmap . Feel free to post your comments/ideas in current thread.

No downfall, we just have to develop this. We have to think about space to keep the files, security - members are not administrators and if they upload infected file, a lot of other members can suffer from it, some moderation - admins may want to moderate uploaded files, etc. This is why for each change in system we do analysis and design.

I just asked for this feature in November 2014 and was directed to add it to their "wish list" forum. I'm very disappointed to see that five years ago this was requested, with many supporting users asking for the same feature, and nothing has been done? This is a very important feature that my members are asking for, and frankly are dismayed that I moved our website to Wild Apricot, and they LOST this ability! C'mon, Wild Apricot. Listen to your users!

2014 is here and this idea of being able to post an image or other document has been around since 2009 or earlier ???
Very new to Wild Apricot but this seems like a function that even the most basic forum sites can or should handle.
Any chance this has already been addressed and I just need education on the "how to"?
Thanks,
Steve

The rationale behind a discussion forum is the sharing of ideas, which likely includes attaching document to a message (new topic in particular or reply).
I suggest this is a must have.
Thanks for considering it as a priority.

Sorry, no - we haven't touched this one, working on other things. Right now, our main focus is new CMS in version 5.0.

It is nearly another year, any progress on this issue? (we need documents more than pictures but both would seem to be useful).

Unfortunately, no progress here yet and most probably there will be no progress in 2011

While the down side of adding images or documents to the forum is clear - (add a report abuse button) the feature would be a great addition - I'm hoping to move forward with my WA site but this could be a sticking point. In our current forum, you can add images but it's so hard that the average user can't do it - one of the requests for the new web site is the easy addition of images in the forum by the users.

Sorry, this is still on the wishlist - so I do not know yet when we will be able to promote to the roadmap. My best guess is that this will be done by end of 2011.

This issue is critical for us as well - we are currently evaluating Wild Apricot and our members would like to be able to upload and insert their business logos, or documents in a forum post. Your reply was dated last year - are you any closer to having this functionality in Wild Apricot?
Thanks - and please let me know what the prospects are.

Our org would also find this helpful-- Sometimes members need feedback on a document that is unpublished or not available as a link on the web, and uploading the file is the only practical way to show it to other members.

Our organization also would like to have this capacity. We are currently using a different forum service that allows it, but will gladly switch if this is enabled.
