Export limited to certain fields
When I export members records into XLS files, I would like to choose which fields to export. Now I have to spend time customising the XLS file by deleting columns I don't want. Could we have the option to choose the required fields?
Released in 5.2

Run the search, wait for the results, then use Export

How can I export the results of a saved search of membership records?

"Export limited to certain fields" implemented in 5.2 release on December 10, 2014. See 5.2 release description http://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Release+5.2 for details.

The problem with this idea is that you are severely constrained by what you can include in the Saved Search layout (current limitation is 5 columns or 15 fields). Also, the layout groups fields together in threes rather than keeping them separate. This has not been helpful to us.
We would greatly appreciate the ability to select fields to export rather than use the saved searches. If this is not possible, at least being able to export only the records of a sub-set would be useful. For example, if there are 350 members, we'd like to be able to export the records of just the New Members.
Thanks.

I agree that having the ability to export just the fields you want is very important. This issue seems to have been discussed for years. Any idea when we can expect to see it?

Ignore this seconds post about the same Export reports issue; a glitch made me think my first post did not get posted and I was too late to delete either post. Apologies.

Yes please add an Export feature that would export data based on a Saved Search & Custom Layouts .
I love both those feature and the way the report looks on screen, but don't like the extra work required to then tweak the output in Excel.

This would be a wonderful option for us. I love the ease of the database features but exporting the saved searches would be the only thing I would really use right now.
Thank you.

I Think this is a good solution, but I would like this to apply to Event exports as well. For events, we export a list of attendees to bring with us. Only name, company and payment information is needed, not all the fields that currently export.

The ability to export specific fields and save the setup to a template would be used regularly by my organization. Would want to be able to run a search and choose to apply the template to the results before exporting.

Can you elaborate with a more detailed example? Sounds like this is something different from the original thread topic - maybe this can be addressed differently.

I would just like to be able to create labels for recent donations and memberships. All I need is for addresses to be a column in the excel spreadsheet (under finances). So many of the automatic columns that are generated currently are useless.

@jjz - can you please elaborate on this in more detail - what exactly is needed, how it's used?

Thanks for the input, Peter. Still I cannot promise we will implement this soon but this quite high in our list.

I need this capability ASAP. The ideal solution would enable me to define and name templates that identify which fields will be exported, and for me to be able to choose which template will be used when I click on "export". But I would welcome any of the approaches requested in this thread. For me, this is not just a time-saving feature (although time savings is a big motivator). One additional benefit (beyond time savings) is security -- avoiding sending sensitive info to other people, which can happen now if I don't delete all of the sensitive data in each export. A second additional benefit is that it will enable my whole organization to make better use of our Wild Apricot website because we can use Wild Apricot to better coordinate our many activities. Right now, Wild Apricot provides none of the social networking and coordination capabilities that many of our organization's members use every day at LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, wikis and other group workspaces, so we have multiple websites and accounts set up to do these things, and that means that I am constantly exporting and updating stuff at Wild Apricot. If WA doesn't catch up with the 21st century soon, it will become the least useful (and least used) part of our online services to members. Giving us custom exporting would be a good first step for WA in making my life easier and bridging the gap they have created by staying so far behind.

We would definitely support having the ability to select the fields to export by what ever means works most effectively. This needs to be available for membership fields as well as events. It would substainly ease the work load of the adminstrators modifying the spreadsheets after each export. However this is done, the ability to save the fields to be exported similar to saved searches would be required to make it usuable.

This get my vote as well - the ability to make custom layout in a search but then not be export the result of the search makes no sense.
We need to be able to export sub-sets of the database for specific purposes and individuals. At this time I first have to setup a search in Wild Apricot, then run this, then export and then tidy up in Excel. It would be so much more efficient to do this in one step and then export the results.
We would like to be able to just generate pre-set reports for different uses/users directly from the database and export them without need for further editing - we could then just run the search and email the results to those needing them.
