Ability to select what page loads after members login [5764]
I have been trying to place the login box on my homepage using wildapricot widget code but thats impossible because members are taken straight to their profile page, which means I have to create an entire blank "login" page on my website and they must go to their profile page just to logout of my site.
Maybe after logging in the initial page that the login box is on would reload but next to the login box appears a "logged in" status change with a "my profile" text link and a "logout" text link would appear.
Released in 5.2

I agree with kbroders, I like going to the members-only section as our home page is also a generic welcome page.

What I really like about the way Wild Apricot does it now, is if there are any pending membership payments or applications, the user is taken to their Member Profile page where they are told about that pending item.
If you do add the ability to customize where the logged in member lands, I think you should either force members with pending items to have to go to Member Profile page or at least give us the option of having them land there when pending items exist.
I think the ideal long-term solution would be a member landing page that is a member dashboard. All all key membership details are displayed including past/future event registrations, outstanding invoices, current membership status, renew button, change membership level button, past donations, contact information (editable).

This will be moved to the wishlist and we continue to gather feedback on it. We will move it to the roadmap when we have a release date ready.

What we currently do is redirect members to their default member-only (Restricted Access Section) page - isn't it what you are asking for above?

Hello
I agree that we need to be able to assign what page the user goes to. My site has a index page where anyone can visit and where they can sign up to become a member. After they become a member I think they should be redirected to the Members Only homepage, where I can post current information and updates.
It is just weird to log on then have some random page appear.
Thanks
Robin

Our organisation would benefit from being able to set this by "groups" - but otherwise individuals should be able to chose as part of their profile. It would be good if WA could also include the option for the site admin to "force" redirection to a nominated page (ie. over-ride personal setting).

Wouldn't it be a good idea to allow members to select their own choice of which page they go to after login?

Ability to direct to home page is good

I will merge this thread into another one on the same topic.

This is being frequently requested in tech support so moving to roadmap.
One question we are trying to figure out - whether this should be a global or per-level setting. We think that per-level makes more sense.

I don't know about a "login trap". I actually liked going to the Members-Only Section. Our Home Page is a generic welcome page. The Members-Only Section puts you in a functional area with private news. (I know some websites put their news on the front page but I have always thought that was really messy looking for non-members.)
I do prefer the option that the Admin chooses the specific page that you go to after login. It might be nice for the User to override that page for themselves. So Admin might send you to the Club News page. User decides he'd rather go to Event Registration or Club News.

I agree. Anything would be a huge improvement over the login trap that is currently set for users.

Actually, I like the idea of this flexability but I'd rather have an admin function to set which page a person goes to after login instead of setting up the site to redirect to the home page only. Because our organization uses WA via widgets, we actually like it going directly to the member's only home page. However, I understand if WA is your website you won't want that. I think adding a control to define where they go after login would be better and more flexible for administrators.

I know this sounds obvious, but the reality is that it does not work this way. If you have any Member's Only sections created on your site and a user logs in, they will be directed to the Member's Only page instead of to the site's Home page.
My request is that when a user logs in, they are presented the Home page first and then can choose where THEY want to go. Kind of like 99% of the sites on the internet.
