Not sure I understood xock http://forums.wildapricot.com/users/86834080-xock request details. But In summary what WA has is the only option to offer a membership with recurring payment or not. So we end up having to create multiple levels of the same membership just to give our users the option to have recurring payments or not. That is a little complicated and not very easy to use. So it would be great if WA system would give each membership level the option to have recurring AND not recurring payment (both options instead of just one).

In my case, right now, I'm having to create 10 membership levels (to offer recurring payments to all of them) when I actually have only 5 membership plans.

Please consider this feature to your next software rollout code.

E.g. you have an annual membership and want to offer annual recurring and non-recurring membership payment options - or annual and monthly recurring?

Having a renewal date helps remind us to look at the comp memberships each year to see whether we want to continue with all of them. Most are in honor of long-term membership and service. Two come as part of being a chairperson of a specific committee. When they go off, then it changes to somebody else. The somebody else is not always aware that they are supposed to get a free membership so we can't rely on them to remind us.

Nancy, I am not sure if making the free membership auto-renewable is the right solution. Why not have them renew at all - leave the renewal date empty?

We have free memberships and we cannot make them auto-renew. We have 2 types:

free to first year graduate veterinarians (do not want auto-renew)

free as a way to honor special people. These are the ones we want to make auto-renewable. There are only a few of them, and it is usually free for life. They get irritated if asked to renew when given a free life membership, especially when the amount is zero and they get confused because they try to pay sometimes.

We name these as 2 different membership levels (first year grads and comp members) so we would set them up differently - one would be auto-renew but not the other one..

I would like the option of making free memberships auto-renewable. .

Could you please explain in more details? We have recurring payment setting on a level that forces to use recurring payments when applying for the level. Do you suggest to make it optional so that member can decide whether he wants to pay recurringly or just once?

2 questions regarding recurring payments:

1) Am I correct that it is not possible to let the member choose whether they want automatic recurring payments? I don't want automatic renewal to be the default, but it would be nice to allow individual members to opt-in to it. I don't want to set up different membership levels, because that would create a confusing number of options. If not, is it planned for the future?

2) Is it possible to remove the "no recurring payments" text from the application? If I don't have recurring payments on any membership level, so it's unnecessary and confusing to show that repeatedly for each option. I looked through the theme files trying to find where I might be able to customize that text, but I'm not sure which file would control it. Any advice would be appreciated.

We would like to be able to offer the auto-renewal feature to our members, but I'd rather that it be an opt-in option instead of an opt-out option.
