Classifieds gadget (i.e. Job Board )
Current behavior:
Blogs or forums are repurposed to serve as classified ads/job boards, however they have serious limitations that prohibit them from being suitable solutions.
Desired behavior:
Self-service (e.g. searchable, browseable) classified ads system for members and visitors, with administration tools to moderate and manage entries/permissions.
Hi there!
With closing this thread I want to remind everybody that the Job Board product is available for all Wild Apricot customers with a paid subscription.
The application form is available on the 'Apps' page, in the main left menu.
Have a great day and happy new year!

We would also love a way to have members put in their own job postings.
Currently, we use a forum with a separate page with a Wufoo form to ensure that ads are posted correctly. Then, the administrator posts the ads.
It would be very helpful if members could post their own ads as required.

I would love to have an advertisement module added.
On our old website, we set-up a html page where the public and our members could pay for an (job) advertisement that they wanted to run in our newsletter and on the website: http://www.mdota.org/online_ad_payments.htm . Are you still considering developing a module that would have this functionality?
Thanks!

Terry, this makes total sense - though of course we need to build the classifieds module first - I will join your post to the existing thread.

I would like to have a page where individual members can post items for sale.
Within this setup I want them to be able to select a specific date when the advert will "appear" and a date when it will be automatically timed out and "disappear".
Can this be added to the wish list ?.

Our members would like to be able to sell boats, RVs, etc. on the website. We could get a percentage for the referral to go to the non-profit part of our organization.

Eric, appreciate the details.
This is on our roadmap which means we plan to implement it within the next 12 months. We do not have a more precise schedule yet.

This is an important function for our association to go live with your Wild Apricot product. Otherwise, it will just be a test for us.
Basic functionality should include:
- ability for members to submit a job posting
- job posting should include job title, company name, city, state, posting date, contact (name, company, email, phone), job description, duties, qualifications, ability for attachment (word, pdf, etc.).
- ability for original poster or administrator to delete job posting.
- ability to sort list by company name, posting date, job title, city
- search feature by job title or company
Probably am missing some other functionalities, but this should get you started.
How about posting where this stands on your priority list and an approximate time frame for implementation?
Thanks,

I agree, we would really use this type of functionality. I'd like for a user to be able to "click to save" a listing in their profile, so if they go through a long list of classifieds, then go back the next day, they could see their "saved" items in their profile page rather than having to go and research again.

Yes please! This would be a valuable addition.

Dimitry,
In response to your request to describe the desired functionality:
On my association's current (non-WA) site, there is a web form that the employer completes and then pays for the listing (or sends in a check). Current form: http://www.kcastd.org/jobbankaddlisting.cfm
I would like to be able to make the ad go live immediately if someone pays, or activate it manually upon receiving the check - like memberships. Also like memberships, I would imagine it would be useful to be able to create different kinds of job postings, with their own listing durations and fees. In fact, I would love to be able to fully customize the fields requested on the form. Finally (and perhaps this is obvious), we'd want to be able to restrict access to the posted jobs, like any other content area.
Thank you!

This is a key function for us. We are paying for WA now, but still test driving. I like a lot of what I see, but it will be hard to sell the product to our assocation board without having the ability to place the Job Ads. It's not about the money, we don't charge to post ads, it's about providing value to our members.

Yes we currently do this through Job Thread but would love an integrated system.

This module would be a huge benefit to my organization.
Right now we have created a link to an external job board, still in the testing phase. To have a job board with the options listed would be a huge benefit to our membership, and our associations professional appearance.

Just to lend our support - my organization would love this module. We'd really love to have the option of charging or not charging to post. It would be a member benefit to be able to post jobs for free.
We currently use the Forum module for job postings. It is labor intensive to maintain as we are just getting people used to using it. This would be a great benefit to offer members!
Thanks.

In the meantime I would really appreciate if you could describe how you currently use ads/what are your needs - so that we can take this into consideration in our analysis/design.

My association is evaluating Wild Apricot now and this is one of the few things on our "wish list" that the current software doesn't have. We're looking for the best workaround now, because it's a current source of income for our organization and therefore an absolute must for our website. :)

We've added this to our list of Top 50 items to develop in the next 12 months. Our goal is to start develop on this in 2010.
This thread will be moved to the Roadmap. As always, we welcome any ideas, suggestions, or questions you might have as we analyze this issue.

I would vote for this one too. Our organization is currently using a blog module as our job board. The instructions simply tell members to click the "add post" button to post a new job. It's a confusing implementation, but that's the best WA has right now. A dedicated Job Board module can't be too hard to adapt, right??? Thanks!

It sounds like this is already in the pipeline or at least being looked at, but we'd definitely be interested in this as well. Especially if there would be a way for members to save or bookmark the items they were looking at. Specifically we'd be looking at using this for opportunities we publish for our writers and playwrights.
Thanks!

Jennifer,
This has not been scheduled yet - though we did start the analysis/design on this.
