Virtual / digital products
We would like to sell online products, all of them accessible using a URL.
This means to have a place (a directory) where to store the virtual products and the online store will supply, upon receiving the money, the necessary grant to the purchased product.
Happy to announce, that with the version 7.17 release we added the support of digital products to Online Store module.
You can sell attach a digital file or provide a URL linking to a hosted file or virtual meeting.
Once a digital product order is paid, it is automatically fulfilled and an email with a link to the digital product is automatically sent to your buyer.
You can read more about version 7.17 here https://gethelp.wildapricot.com/en/articles/1750-version-7-17-release
Thank you for your support, votes and comments. Please, continue to share your feedback with us. More updates are coming in the New year!
Happy holidays and all the best!

This is a great idea (and obviously with covid it's more relevant than ever!) Also, please make it so there a way to make a digital product free!

Any word on when digital products will be possible on Wild Apricot?
We are currently looking at 3rd party options to trigger automated emails which is a rather sloppy way to go about this.
An integrated method for delivering a Virtual Product URL or message upon customer purchasing would be ideal.

Due to the pandemic, we are running webinars for our members and we would like to offer them for sale as digital downloads after the event. On payment we would like the store to send a url to the customer to download the content.

Unique receipts based on items sold in the store. Some are physical items that need to be sent in the mail and some are digital items that I want them to have access too immediately with a link, but I can't set unique receipts so I can't sell both types of items in my store.

we would like to sell digital products so that when a digital product is purchased by online payment an automatic email with the product link is sent to the purchaser for download. At the moment we are making do by add in a the product file link to one of the automatic emails which ar emeant to cover all products. If we had many digital products for download it would be very difficult to manage as it is not automatic and the link would have to be added manually after purache delaying delivery of file to the cutomer.

The simplest method would be have a text field in the Add Product that appears in the line item on the order acknowledgement/invoice. This could then include the url of a digital download. It could also be used for other notes such as delivery info, etc.

Something like e-junkie is what is being requested here... thoughts? Does anyone at WA know what digital download carts look like and can do? Sounds like you are behind the wave of information marketplace...

You should offer e-gift card option through the online store.

We sell forms and an advice hotline. We want to have their product auto-sent to their email if they purchase a non-physical item. As of now, it requires a manual step for us to go in and check the orders, and send them the right form based on their order.

I wish that the order fulfilled email could be tailored for each different product. It seems at the moment that the one template is used for different products requiring different content. For example one product may be digital link to be downloaded on payment while another product may need a pin number to be sent after payment.
I would like to see specific messages be able to be sent for each different product types. For exmaple if I had several different digital products to sell, I cannot add links to all these files to the one order fulfilled email template. Also could digital downloadable products be available automatically with online payments?

Please add functionality to the online store to manage digital downloads. Upon purchase customers would immediately and automatically receive either a link or attachment, instead of having to manually send customers their downloads after the order.

We sell eBooks - right now we are using another system, but use WA for everything else. It is clunky for our customers to have to go to a different URL for the store. It would be so much better for our customers and us, if we could have it all in one place. Plus, the $$ flowing through our merchant account with your merchant provider would increase, which I assume would mean more income for you... PLEASE consider doing this sooner than later! It is critical for anyone with a store to be able to automatically download a pdf / mobi / epub / docx / xls file. Once you have this functionality, I suspect you will see the usage of your store function increase quite a bit.
Thank you! -

The ability to use the WA Store to provide digital document delivery would be awesome. We currently use PayLoadz (others use e-junkie or Shopify). I haven't tried the "stop gap" method listed in this thread because my current store offers real-time delivery and I don't want to take a step backwards for my customers.

There needs to be a way to have custom confirmation/receipt emails to customers when they purchase a product. Sending a message to them through Wild Apricot once they have purchased a product isn't enough unfortunately. When someone (myself included) buys a digital product they expect the product immediately. If they buy something on a weekend/holiday or after hours when we are closed, they will not receive the link from us until we are back in the office.

We have swapped over to the Wild Apricot store, but digital items are a sticking point for us. The proposed solution of providing a link during checkout feels pretty stop-gap to us. We'd prefer something more integrated where a customer would buy a digital item and the store would handle generating and providing the URL. Bells-and-whistles would include being able to set how many times a file could be downloaded via the generated link.

All the products we sell are digital (it is 2019, after all). Because of this we need to use a different store and link to it from our Wild Apricot site. It would be so much better if we could do this in Wild Apricot! Wild Apricot would earn the credit card fees from each payment rather than this other store, too.

I would love to be able to sell a digital course. In an ideal 2019 world, member would purchase course have automatic access to a file or a page on the website. Access to that course would be granted through the permissions system (maybe via an assigned group). Right now, I have 6 videos that I want to deliver as a course; There is no good solution to do this with Wild Apricot. The message to customer when you fulfill an order is not instantaneous, and it still requires a lot of manual setup. Even a customized email confirmation for each product would be a nice step.

Imagine having a digital story delivery system similar to Shopify store where digital files can be ordered and fulfilled from this platform. I would also build an upsell feature that allows recommended products or add-ons to be suggested during check out. Your service is wonderfully executed and only lacking one thing that would take my business to the next level. Thanks for your consideration.

Bill,
Message to customer is a large text field on order details page. When admin fulfills an order, he can provide a link there.
