Agree with this idea. Right now, we can use the RSS feed from the "Events Calendar" Gadget, but I would much prefer the cleaner look of the "Upcoming Events" Gadget. However, the Upcoming Events Gadget doesn't have an RSS feed, and the widgets useless for this purpose.

Additionally, it's odd that there is no option to include either one into WA generated emails.

This would be extremely useful, especially for organizations that send scheduled weekly or monthly newsletters. Displaying feeds for upcoming events, latest forum activity and current jobs that already exist on our site would be a game changer.

I would like to add an additional request to this item. We post 30-40 events per month on our calendar, as we include events of sister organizations, rallies, webinars, etc. In a newsletter email I would want the ability to manually select the events to include in the Events Gadget. For example I would want to select for inclusion only our own hosted events.

If this were implemented, it would also be helpful if event details inside the event module were broken up a bit more: event intro, event speaker, event thumbnail, event banner image, etc.

I just watched the webinar on the new email editor and I'm very excited about it. I can't wait for those editor improvements to get pushed out to other areas of the system. One thing I was really hoping it would have (but it didn't) is a gadget to automatically bring in upcoming events into an email. Almost all of the emails we send to our members are regarding our upcoming events, so it would be nice if I could have a gadget (similar to the "Upcoming Events" gadget in the website editor) that would automatically display upcoming events. The person composing the email could set a number of events or an upcoming time frame or a type of event (event tag) that they want to display in the email. Then the events could be shown in a list in the email with links to the event pages. Please consider adding this feature. Thanks!

We publish monthly newsletters with a list of upcoming events and other tidbits. Would love to have a simple way to have the time, location, event title (linked to the event) in the email without having to do it all manually every month....

It would great to have a macro that let me include links to our next event or next three events in e-mails to our members.

We built an e-mail template that includes an Upcoming Events section. I have to copy the events and links to a word document and then cut and paste them into the emails. It would be great if we could simply insert a macro into the e-mail template.

to answer some concerns with other commenters, the way the Upcoming Events gadget works for webpages is ok (for now) for a similar feature on Emails-- it only shows titles and can be limited to the next N events.

obviously for both the Upcoming Events gadget and the Macro being proposed here for emails, more configurability would be useful; for example, maybe allowing the admin a choice of:
- first N characters of the description
- photo thumbnail (but of course then a photo would have to be a real fields for an event, rather than just Rich Text Content)

This accommodates people/cultures where they prefer "PUSH" access to information (info sent to them) rather than "PULL" (where they have to proactively seek it out)

Basically, it would be great to support in dynamic Email content most of the same Gadgets you support for dynamic webpage content.

"newsletter email" == "newsletter webpage"
"upcoming events email" == "upcoming events webpage"
etc

We are looking for a way to send a monthly (eventually weekly) email blast that lists all the upcoming events for the following month (week). Could using Wild Apricot's existing event RSS feed (in similar ways that email service providers do) be a reasonable way forward?

Adding the upcoming events to emails is something that we include on all emails sent out. If there was a way to automatically insert the date and title of the event (with a link) in that specific block, that would be FANTASTIC!

More robust (and sensible) email processing, including automatic events newsletter. We have sometimes two and even three events in some weeks. Rather than sending out 9 emails per week, multiplied by another months' worth of events (resulting in a humongous number of announcements, and the reason that hundreds of people have opted out), we'd rather send one comprehensive weekly summary of all coming events. This would probably need a combination of macro text insertion and manual editing, as most events' webpage descriptions are WAY too long for this purpose. But it would be VERY helpful if we could start with an automatically populated newsletter, that we could then simply edit down.

Add the functionality to automatically send out a system generated email listing the upcoming events for the week.

There is a need to specify time period and flags of events for export to email or to other forms of text.

An email macro with similar functionality as the Upcoming Events gadget would be really useful, especially if one or more tags can be specified, and a limit such as time (next month) or number (next 10 events).
