    to answer some concerns with other commenters, the way the Upcoming Events gadget works for webpages is ok (for now) for a similar feature on Emails-- it only shows titles and can be limited to the next N events.

    obviously for both the Upcoming Events gadget and the Macro being proposed here for emails, more configurability would be useful; for example, maybe allowing the admin a choice of:
    - first N characters of the description
    - photo thumbnail (but of course then a photo would have to be a real fields for an event, rather than just Rich Text Content)

    This accommodates people/cultures where they prefer "PUSH" access to information (info sent to them) rather than "PULL" (where they have to proactively seek it out)

    Basically, it would be great to support in dynamic Email content most of the same Gadgets you support for dynamic webpage content.

    i.e.
    "newsletter email" == "newsletter webpage"
    "upcoming events email" == "upcoming events webpage"
    etc
