Integration with "PayPal Here" (accept credit card payments on the go).
Integrate mobile app for administrators with PayPal Here in order to accept credit card payments.
Please vote to this suggestion if you prefer using PayPal Here instead of Square Register.
This feature was released in 1.8 version (iOS only):

Unfortunately we can’t do this integration for Android due to lack of PayPal integration documentation.
If you’d like to get updates on this feel free to vote for this topic:

Clarification:
PayPal Here integration does not break any existing tools or workflows, so your members can continue using online payments as they are used to. PayPal Here gives you a tool to accept payments from mobile app. For example you can accept credit card if somebody came to offline event with unpaid registration.

Can I use Wild Apricot Payments to take on-site payment (in other words, at the event, not online advance payment) via a customer's credit card?

I'm confused. Does this mean we can no longer have our members pay their dues with PayPal? If so, that's not good. PayPal is the only way members, or potential members can pay their dues or join our organization using a credit card. In this day and age more and more people pay with a credit card as opposed to a check. If so, this really causes a big problem with us. Please let me know.

Unfortunately It will work on iOS devices only due to lack of PayPal documentation. We will continue discussion with its support but frankly without any expectations.
As for invoices: yes, you will be able to proceed any kind of payments available in our app. Not only invoice related but any custom one also.

Glad that you're testing this feature.
The call for testers specified an iOS device. Will it work on Android as well, when it's released?
Will it be possible to use this to accept a payment that's not linked to an invoice? For example, paying for a meal or for an event that doesn't require registration?

If we are talking about PayPal Here in US it's 2.7% - 3.7% depends on card type and input type. More info see here: https://www.paypal.com/us/selfhelp/article/what-are-the-fees-for-paypal-here-faq3430

PayPal Here would be a start as it would free us from the "Square Monopoly" that seems to be developing. We use MagTek (not Square readers) and cannot justify the cost of swapping out gizmos. It smacks too much like Apple's (restrictive & expensive) proprietary stance; vendors should NOT have the upper hand in defining these dynamics!

If you offered integration with Stripe that would be even better as that is what we use for the website side. We still have a PayPal account so that is why this would be the alternative choice as that is what we use for our cash register.
