Unfortunately there is no code for this, images must be modified and set with desired parameters on your computer prior uploading.

    frsandi:

I know we've had at least one other person ask for this feature. It's a good idea but would take a decent amount of work to make sure it was done the right way.

Let's throw this out to the crowd: Is this an ability you'd like for Wild Apricot? Would you use it more as an admin function or would you want to see it added to your public member directories?

This has been flagged as one of Top 50 features to develop in 2010.

As always, please don't hesitate to add any suggestions for this feature here. We'll let you know when we have a solution worked out and when we plan to release it.

We've had some more requests for this feature, so I think it's a good chance now to see how many people would use this.

I was unable to find the post you made ont he Wishlist concerning this, so I'm going to move this thread to the Wishlist. Once I find the thread (of if you could post a link to it), I'll merge the threads.

This seems like a pretty solid idea.

Unfortunately, there is no built in functionality for this, but perhaps you could create some custom javascript. You can contact our partners who can help you with this customization.

This thread is being moved to the wishlist for the time being. Once we have a version release associated with it, we will move it back to the roadmap. However, we still want to hear any ideas you might have for this feature.

    Hi Meagan:

Thanks for the details in your post. It's just that type of information that we look for so that we can devise a system that works!

I'll add it to the notes we already have as we continue to look at this suggestion.

As Dmitry mentioned, there are a lot of issues that this can lead to. For example, someone could post "Spam" blog posts which could hurt the usefulness of your blog, and your organization's reputation.

Because of these risks, we want to make sure that we a firm grasp on how our clients want to use the feature.

To that end: How would your group use the ability for non-members to be able to write their own blog posts?

    Currently
When editing the event registration for a contact, you cannot change the event they are registered for. This can be an issue if you are running a number of the same events (perhaps on a recurring basis) and the registrant cannot make it to one event but can go to another. At present, you would have to delete their registration for the first event and then sign them up for the second one, which is a lot of work and can cause some problems with payments reports and statuses.

    Proposed
    1) When editing contact details, make the event name a filed that can be edited. You would then choose the event you want the contact to be registered for. The contact would not be registered for the first event, but would be for the second.

    2) Create a "Move to event" button where the contact would be associated with a new event, and the registration form is presented to be completed. If any fields have the same name, the information from the previous registration is copied and can be edited, while different fields remain blank.

    3) It could also be set set up so that in an event you can define which other events a registration can be moved to - similar to how you can define which membership levels someone can upgrade to. This might clear up a lot of issues with registration form information.

For all of these, we would have to consider how payment status would be transferred - in addition to much more analysis on registration form information.

    Problem

    * People quite often want to upload\insert\embed video files but in Wild Apricot this is as easy as it should be.

    * Possible ways of handling video:
    * If users want to upload video they can use Insert Document dialog, also it is available to insert link on uploaded video via Document dialog - not obvious/usable
    * If users want to embed video on the page they can use Insert HTML Snippet or script dialog - but there are various technical limitations

    Proposed solution

    * Add a new button in the edit panel - Video (with tooltip Insert video)
    * Button opens new "Insert video" dialog with two different modes switched by different tabs
    * Admin can embed video from an external hosting resources or embed a video uploaded to Wild Apricot

Thanks for your input. It's great to see people excited about this issue.

However, it is a pretty big system, and we want to make sure we are able to produce things that are useful. Which aspects of this would be the best first steps for this (the most essential one that you can't imagine this without) .

Thank you for the suggestion. This makes sense.

We will have to determine how to figure out how to measure this. Defining it by "Line" can be tricky since if people have their browsers set to different screen sizes the same amount of "lines" can either be very very long, or very short.

Unfortunately it is not possible to designate a starting number for "member ID" field. "member ID" is a system field and it is generated automatically by the system.

We would definitely want to make sure that if export your data that you can re-import it, since a lot of people will want to do an export before making a change to the member database, for example.

We have made this one of our Top 50 features for 2010. We hope to start development within the next 12 months.

As you can imagine, this is a complex issue, especially since we want it to be simple to use and also functional on as many computer platforms as possible. We'll let you know the results of our analysis and its release date as soon as we can.

As always, keep the ideas, uses, and suggestions coming.

Even though it is not a direct implementation, I hope this could be helpful:

We just launched integration with Integromat platform, which helps to build automated workflows. We also provide several templates for quick start, and one of them allows to copy google calendar events into WA events. So if you share a google calendar for events submission, then the scenario could copy submitted events into your Wild Apricot account.
You can try this integration by this link https://www.integromat.com/en/integration/2275-copy-google-calendar-into-wild-apricot-events

    Configuration

There will be a new setting page: Settings -> Events -> Member submitted events

    * Admin enables a setting Allow members to submit events
    * Admin can also decide whether he wants to manually approve submitted events or have them published immediately when they are submitted/ (Does this by enabling by a setting)

    Submitting an event

    * When enabled, any public event list page page has a link on it - Submit an event
    * Clicking on the link brings up a form where the member enters

    * Name of event (required)
    * Description
    * Location (required)
    * Start date and time (date required)
    * End date and time
    * When member submits their event
    * Event is created - Visibility according to setting
    * Tagged as member_submitted by the system
    * Initiating member identity stored along with event

    Event registration

    * Member cannot enable registrations for submitted events. Only the admin can do that.

    Approval of member-submitted events

    * This happens if the Admin set it up so that event are NOT published as soon as they are submitted.

    * An email is sent to the member (BCC to admin) informing them that an event has been submitted
    * (ideally) An email is sent to the member when the event it made visible. (Only for the first time - so if admin makes it hidden and visible again, no second email is sent.)
    * if there is an approval process, admin just makes the event Visible. Using visibility flag we keep it very simple and rely on standard functionality
    * So there is no difference between admin-created and member-submitted events - they use the same current functionality and rules (re visibility, registration)

    Immediate display of submitted events

    * An email is sent to the member (BCC to admin) informing them that an event has been submitted and published

    Admin event list

    * Both admin admin and member events are shown in the list
    * Member-submitted events are visually differentiated from other events.

    * Add "submitted by data" into the list - so keyword search can be used by name of the person submitting the event

    Public event details

    * Display initiating contact name (as link) on event details so other user can click and view his profile
    * Hide the event if profile is not available for public view

We have been analyzing this issue for a while and think that we have a solution that meets the needs of most people who want to use this feature.

I'm going to be posting the feature description that we plan to present to our developers. Before we do, we'd like to get your feedback on it. Is this something that would benefit you? Are there any details we missed. Also, is there anything in the story that you wouldn't use?

    Thanks!

Since this may not make it into the next couple of version releases, we are moving this to the wishlist for the time being.

    Dani:

We do have a solution that we've analyzed. Essentially a member would be able to submit some a title, description and date(s) for an event. The admin would them review this and then make it visible, or have a setting where it is automatically published. The admin can also further edit it as they desire - as they would for any other event.

Right now it is in our development queue, which may lead to some further refinement. Once we have a developer and release assigned to it, we will let you know.

As well, we do see that there is a lot of interest for this. I have made of note of this, and it will be used to help prioritize the issue.

I've been reading through the discussion on this thread and would like to present this suggestion:

A member could create an event. This event might not necessarily be run by the organization, but may be an independent event where there is an overlap of interest between the organization and the person posting it. There would only be certain fields that they could enter and would be publicly viewable, but they would not set a price or a registration form.

Once the event is submitted, it would have to be approved by the admin/organization. At that time it would be added to a calendar.

Perhaps instead of thinking like this as an "event", with all the fields associated with it, we should be thinking of this as a "calendar entry", which would have a limited number of general purpose fields for posting something to a date (it could be an event, or could be reminder of an important date, like all fees are due on this day, or an external event) that need not have a Registration associated with them. A member generated entry might be in a different colour, or even on a separate calendar of affiliated events.

Merged several posts together, so that both public and admins lists can be customized. This is better for analysis and design to work on them together.

Attendees page is a system page and unfortunately it cannot be customized with custom fields. For now, the best way to view your custom fields is by doing Export. To do this go to the event and click on Export attendees button.

    The most barebone themes are:

    Transparent - Horizontal
    Transparent - Hybrid
    Basic Yellow/Green

Arttext is not related to any theme, this is just an option you can add or remove as needed.
