Thanks everyone for the feedback and support of this idea.
After some consideration, we decided to start with the system push notifications for the Member App and address these scenarios:
- New event is published and open for registration
- Event reminder the day before and on the day of the event, including a notice if the registration is unpaid
- Updates about changes in event location or event date/time
Members will be able to manage notification settings in the app for each scenario.
At this moment we are not considering custom push notifications, but I'm going to split this thread and continue the conversation. Happy to hear your thoughts.

Ad’s management is a huge business with strong players, so building something competitive will cost us a fortune. There is quite low probability that we will take it into development in the nearest future.
For simple cases we recommend to use existing CMS functionality to inject ad’s into site pages. In case if you need precise control on what and when should be shown, then we recommend to integrate 3-rd party solutions.

Dmitry: Do you have suggestions for third party apps that would allow this functionality to be integrated into Wild Apricot?

We just launched integration with Integromat platform, which helps to build automated workflows. We also provide several templates for quick start, and one of them allows to copy Wild Apricot events into google calendar. So you can share this google calendar and you members can subscribe to it.

On the "The 8-Step Formula for Keeping Members Forever" with Joy Duling last week, she mentioned this as part of the Onboarding process. The ability to send a pre-scheduled series of emails to welcome new members is important. Now that you can schedule regular emails, this should be possible.

Agree! This was a great function -- now, like Bronwyn, I have to create saved searchs to send to a selected list.
