Tags for blog
Yes i ditto that--we need to have tags available for our blog posts. This is a basic feature of blogs now that greatly improve the user experience as well as one to rank in google for keywords/tags.

Any updates on the expected delivery date for a tagging feature in blog pages?
My organization uses a blog page to update our members on everything from new legislation to job openings to industry news. We need a way to sort our posts so that people can find what they're looking for without digging back through the whole blog history.
Thanks!
Tiernan

I hope this is on the agenda soon! This is an important feature for any serious blog! I would add that categories would be more attractive than tags if there must be a choice. Organization really helps the value of a blog in addition to seo benefits!!

Any comments from others on that? Would it be helpful to have tags cloud?

[/quote]Yes, www.ikms.org would like to have blog information organisation features like tags and categories. Static information on our website is pretty well covered by the existing navigation and content pages bundle (thanks for making this usable), but more dynamic content such as announcements and resources need a proper information organisation solution as they grow over time. Apart from tags, it's also useful to have a chronological navigation.

I cannot find a system of autotag at the moment however here is one I would love to have for my blog postingswith tags at bottoms of posts
-
Dmitry Buterin commented
So you mean the system would analyze the content of the post and try to auto-tag it based on the words it contains? I am not aware of any technology which can do this reliably at the moment, have you come across any good implementations?
-
MitchB commented
when using a certain set of words or names you can create a database/bank that will automatically create a page with related/similar articles.
We have multiple articles on top riders that compete all over the world and would love if there were a link that says "view related articles" and it would basically be a mini search on just that rider.
Also for sponsors if we can create wordbanks for when their name is mentioned in articles & posts/pages it would better help us promote them.

Can you elaborate about auto links of tagged words? I am not sure I understand what you mean.
-
MitchB commented
Allow tags in blog posts to link to like posts with similar tags. (below post), Auto links of tagged words such as people, events etc in posts.

Unfortunately we have to postpone this feature - too much other stuff on our 2010 roadmap - so I am moving this back to wishlist.

I would love to have this option. As a golf professional, I would like to have a blog for each of my primary groups. For example, a blog for beginners, women, seniors, etc.. However, I also want a primary blog that shows all of my blog posts.
The way you have the events set up right now would be perfect for what I'm thinking. I would write all my blog posts on one primary blog and using tags, the blog posts that are relevant to each group go to a blog area in each groups section - similar to how I have a gadget that shows only the tagged events I've chosen.

Most blog software enables people to create tags for their posts. This allows a way to categorize blog posts, and also gives people to see posts on similar themes grouped together.
As part of our top 50 goals for 2010, we are planning to add this feature to the blogs that you can create as part of Wild Apricot. We have some ideas on how to implement this, but we'd love to hear from you and how you would use tags on your blogs.

Here is an example from my business blog on a blog post about floaters in real estate: The blond bombshell who love me...NOT! http://www.justnewlistings.com/arlington-virginia-blog/the-blond-bombshell-lawyer-who-loved-menot.html
At the bottom of that post are the tags that readers can click on to get to similar posts
Blog Tags
* buyers (15) http://www.justnewlistings.com/arlington-virginia-blog/tags/buyers
* floaters (3) http://www.justnewlistings.com/arlington-virginia-blog/tags/floaters
* Selecting a Virginia Realtor (4) http://www.justnewlistings.com/arlington-virginia-blog/tags/selecting-a-virginia-realtorAnd if you google "floaters real estate" http://www.google.com/search?q=floaters real estate&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a you get that tagged page #1 in google. This can be big for your customers who need to rank for keywords and phrases in google--being able to have stragetic tags where all the blog posts on that page are about those keywords/tags.
There is hardly a more important feature to add than tags to our blogs.
