Classifieds gadget (i.e. Job Board )
Current behavior:
Blogs or forums are repurposed to serve as classified ads/job boards, however they have serious limitations that prohibit them from being suitable solutions.
Desired behavior:
Self-service (e.g. searchable, browseable) classified ads system for members and visitors, with administration tools to moderate and manage entries/permissions.
Hi there!
With closing this thread I want to remind everybody that the Job Board product is available for all Wild Apricot customers with a paid subscription.
The application form is available on the 'Apps' page, in the main left menu.
Have a great day and happy new year!

Just wanted to suggest that if this was implemented as a generic directory or database then it could have many uses such as Job Ads, Resource Directory, Websites Directory etc.
Kill many birds with one stone. Make lots of people happy - including myself - I would like a Resource Directory.

This sounds great. We currently use the Forum gadget as a buy and sell. Implementing this wish would give more focused function.
Three comments:
- the charge to place an ad should be a decision, the amount settable
- Can we have the decision to pay split between member groups (i.e. members post ads for free, non-members pay)?
- need to be able to attach documents/photos/links to the ad posting -

My community advertises items including homes for sale or lease. Ideally it would be part of the member option. Using a form that drops the info into a Classified column automatically. When the sale is complete then the member takes the classified down. These would be dumped at a specified time of the month if not renewed by the member.

I liked this one, but would like to include a way for my non-members can fill in the job ad form externally, Then, our members log in to see the job ad bulletin board. Members only job board. Non members can add their job posting without seeing the whole bulletin board.

I would like this feature too. It's a great way to add a benefit to our members without much cost. Please add it!

Thanks for moving my post - but I'm still looking for an answer. Whether a forum is used as we use it (for a sales/wanted area) or as an actual interactive forum, the ability to delete dead wood is still something we need to have. Even for a real 'sales' module I still want to be able to age off old ads or want requests, as well as old forum entries so whether here in this thread or back in the thread where I posted the request it is still on my list !

Moved your reply to proper thread - it's more related here.

"Why do you want to delete old topics?"
Sorry - just saw your question now - we use the forums as buy/sell/wanted boards. And to keep the number of entry pages manageable, current and also useful we now manually delete anything older than roughly 6 months. An automated process would be a lot nicer.

I would definitely vote to have this moved up the list. A classified ads module would save me a lot of work maintaining the classified adverts (most of the adverts on our site require photo's so the blog work around is not suitable for us.) I have looked at third party modules but the issue with having a separate login makes it more hassle to our members than it is worth.

This would be an amazing feature for us to be able to use. I love the idea of having the ability to allow members to post for free and be able to charge a fee for non-members to post.
Please consider adding this functionality when it is moved higher on the priority list.

Just looking for an update on the progress of this proposed module. We currently use the forums module for sales and want ads for our members and with no way to age off the old ones or auto-delete them, it is a huge pain. We have to manually clear the old ones out. So I would like either of two things: some way to set an autodelete so that items can be aged off in forums (just the addition of a mandatory expiration field to a forum entry would work for us.), or for this proposed module be made available.
We do not charge our membership to place ads, and do not allow non-members to do so, and consequently there is no billing requirement for us.
Thx !

This has not been scheduled for development so the timeline is not defined - we will post updates once it advances to that stage.

This feature, as described above in Chief Apricot's post, would be a huge leap forward in functionality for our website. When might we hope to have it available?

Do you have a timeline for this new module? We are new to Wild Apricot and this feature would be highly desirable. Thanks!

Sorry, no - this is a whole new module, not related to the new CMS.

Any chance this is going to be in the new CMS that is released this year?

We are new trial members and evaluating the site. I think I have our organization ready to commit. Having a classified ads / job listing feature would be HUGE for us. Any update on where this stands and any possible timeline for having it implemented.
We'd also be interested in placing ads on our site from our vendor sponsors in our community. Is there any ability to manage this now or in the future?

I know it has been brought up before, but where does WA stand on a classified advertising module. We have a requirement to allow members to place ads. We would like to standardize these advertisements with custom fields. We would like to have required fields, field length restrictions and ad expiration/renewal options. We would like everyone to have read privileges and only members to have posting privileges.
Thank you!

To change "Member profile details" to any other wording like "Contact details" you should copy the following code to Global Javascript:<script type="text/javascript">try{ document.getElementById('membershipDetailsContainer').innerHTML = document.getElementById('membershipDetailsContainer').innerHTML.replace('Member profile details', 'Contact Details');}catch(err){}</script>

Can you tell me where in the HTML haystack that you found the "Member Profile Details" divider. I have been trying to change this for months! :D thanks so much, Amy
