We rely heavily on our blogs as we are more of a publishing business than a membership site. WA blogs offer us the advantage of maintaining several blogs on our site, but the functionality is a bit cumbersome. For example, since we can't enter author names manually, we have had to create "fake" accounts so author names can be automatically logged. An advanced preview would be a huge bonus and gets my vote!

An error occurred while saving the comment Front & Finish commentedThanks for your comments Rick Estell! We were thinking of utilizing two separate sites, but maintaining two separate member logins was a “no go”. WIX now allows for membership sites and their WISWIG editor is pretty impressive and you can’t beat the cost. Unfortunately there is currently no way to import our member info so we’re keeping an eye out to see if/when it will be implemented.
An error occurred while saving the comment Front & Finish commentedI have a very similar need. We would like to create a database where a single contact could register informaiton about the dogs they own. This would be a one-to-many relationship since one member might own several dogs they own. We would also like to track show information about each dog, so again this would be a one-to-many relationship since any given dog could have many show records.

An error occurred while saving the comment Front & Finish commentedThis is a basic feature available in other software and I’m surprised it isn’t available in WA. As membership sites have to compete with social media I’d think it would be a priority. Images can be added as admins so I’d think the functionality would be available for members.

An error occurred while saving the comment Front & Finish commentedMore than anything else I honestly spend more time writing members who are having difficulty renewing or switching membership levels. This is such a pain since the process can be different depending on each member's settings. Customers nowadays are used to much more convenient ways of processing transactions. I'm not asking to be Amazon but this process is very clunky and outdated. I'm tired of apologizing to our members because this process is so difficult.

An error occurred while saving the comment Front & Finish commentedI would definitely be on board with this! Search engines can't track info behind the paywall (only available to logged-in members) and allowing the system to drip content would definitely help drive more traffic to our site.
An error occurred while saving the comment Front & Finish commentedI'm dripping content by creating duplicate blogs one protected and one public. Seriously... what a time waster! I love so much of the functionality of Wild Apricot but some of the basics are missing. The more I work on my site the more I have to lose. Does anyone know of a better membership solution?

An error occurred while saving the comment Front & Finish commentedAnother basic functionality missing in Wild Apricot. I'd really list to support these guys but its getting more difficult to manage these issues manually all the time. It doesn't make it any easier for our customers either. I can't believe this would be that difficult to create this functionality. At the very least, a reduced fee option or two that could be triggered by number of days since initial subscription/renewal.

An error occurred while saving the comment Front & Finish commentedI'm on board too. Tags however are just part of the story. There is no useful way to search for blog content when pages are protected. UPDATE 01/21/20: To make it easier for our subscribers to find articles of interest we’ve had to create several blog pages by topic. Unfortunately it’s now become unwieldy to manage and we shouldn’t have to waste time just to add posts to a blog. I appreciate the improvements WA is making to their system but having categories and subcategories is basic to all modern blogging platforms. This feature is long overdue and needs to be incorporated soon.

An error occurred while saving the comment Front & Finish commentedI would like to embed video clips (specifically YouTube) into blog posts. I understand that administrators are the only ones who can currently add images to a blog post but I can not find a way to embed video clips. I have tried editing the html code as suggested by the YouTube website but haven't been successful. I also agree with the other thread on images that members should be able to add pictures and embed video into their blog posts as well. Thanks for listening!

An error occurred while saving the comment Front & Finish commentedI agree that it would be beneficail to offer the option to manually enter author names. We are a magazine publisher and post articles from our authors on our website. We would like to be able to identify the author of these submissions by name.
As it stands now we have to create a fake account for each author, log in under the pseudo account, and then post articles. Beyond this, we also have to make these fake accounts admins or we wouldn't be allowed to post images with the articles.
The only other option we can think of is to create a single generic account with the title of our publication as the author name. This doens't appear to be a workable solution because author names won't be posted with their material when we create blog lists on other pages.

I'm with ya Steven. Sadly we recently had to leave WildApricot because of lagging improvements and flexibility in adapting elements of their platform. What they did do generally worked well for us (especially membership record management), but we just had to have more flexibility to design our site around us instead of adapting what we do to meet the website's format. It took us a few months but now we are on a WordPress site that offers so much more functionality. I really hated leaving WildApricot, but like you I waited years to see advancements and nothing really came. Changing the "look" of the WA admin was a waste of time and resources in my opinion. They should have put their efforts into adding functionality and the ability for more customization in their gadgets and pages. I tried emailing my recommendations and participating in WA's forums but the things I needed never advanced. Good luck to you!
