Name Field – Macro Issue: Apostrophes and French Characters in Email Notifications and Membership Lists
Issue:
• Names containing apostrophes or accented French characters (e.g., O'Leary, D'Arcy, Mahé) may not display correctly in email notifications for payment receipts, new applications, and membership renewals.
• In addition, sometimes French city names appear scrambled in membership lists (e.g., Montréal, Québec).
Impact:
• Members may feel unappreciated if their names or cities appear scrambled or incorrectly in official communications and listings.
• This issue causes extra work for administrators, who must manually clean up the data before merging address labels.
Request:
• Ensure that apostrophes and accented French characters are correctly stored and displayed in all email notifications and membership lists.
Examples (scrambled → correct):
• O'Leary → should display as O'Leary
• O'Donnell → should display as O'Donnell
• D'Arcy → should display as D'Arcy
• D'Eon → should display as D'Eon
• Mahé → should display as Mahé
• Mélissa Sarrazin-Le Siège → should display as Mélissa Sarrazin-Le Siège
• Stéphanie → should display as Stéphanie
• Le Léannec → should display as Le Léannec
• Montréal → Montréal
• Québec → Québec
Note:
It seems I’m not able to show the actual scrambled names here. Please see the attached copy for reference.
