Requesting Zapier Support for a True "Add Only" Action for Wild Apricot Events
As an organization that relies heavily on automation to streamline our event management processes, we are longtime users of both Wild Apricot for membership management and Zapier for connecting systems and automating workflows.
One of the challenges we’ve run into is a limitation in the current Zapier-Wild Apricot integration: Zapier’s “Create or Update Event Registration” action will update an existing registration if one is found, rather than simply adding a new one.
This creates problems for organizations like ours that allow (or need to support) multiple registrations by the same person for the same event—for example, if someone is registering themselves and then later adds another registration for the same event with different dates as we have a camping event and people can register for any set of dates all summer.
At the moment, there is no way in Zapier to force a "create-only" behavior—where a new registration is always added regardless of existing ones. The automation logic behind the scenes checks for a match (often using email or contact ID) and overwrites the existing registration rather than creating an additional one.
Why this matters
This limitation impacts:
Accurate registration records
Reporting and attendance tracking
User experience and flexibility
Our ability to scale event workflows with automation
What we’re asking for
We’d love to see Zapier introduce an “Add-only” or “Always create new” option in the Create Event Registration action for Wild Apricot.
This would allow us and many other organizations to:
Preserve all individual registration data
Prevent unintended overwrites
Fully automate multi-registration workflows with confidence
