Prevent event registrant from becoming a contact
The ability to suspend a member's ability to register for events without making them functionally an inactive member (so they still receive all mass communications sent to active members).

If by mass communication you mean manually sent emails by your admins - like newsletters - you can always send them to regular contacts as well. Not sure what the problem is.
