add a visitors counter to our website
From time to time we receive questions at our support like "I want to add a visitors counter to our website. Telling a user: "Your are visitor number: #".
From design point of view and the current state of web development, visitors counters (or hit counters) are mostly considered as outdated, not used any more. But it still might be important for you and so I decided to create a wishlist thread to collect your opinions on that.
Please, share your thoughts!

Would love a counter on to use on our blog page to know just how actively read the page is. Not everyone who visits leaves a comment.

as a brand new organisation, tracking the number of people visiting versus the number of people actually joining us would be helpful in helping us shape our membership drive

we are a small group and really need to have a hit tracker on our site. If you don't include a counter, at least provide step by step directions to do so.

We would like to either track the hits our pages get (without the trouble of using Google) or have a visitor counter.
