Tracking Continuing Education Points (CEU, CEC, CPD, CPU)
There is currently no special functionality for tracking Continuing Education points/credits in Wild Apricot. It is possible to track these via custom admin-only fields but this requires manual process. We are considering adding this functionality in the future and would appreciate details on how these are typically tracked by our clients.

Given that Professional Development plays an important part of ongoing membership eligibility in so many Associations these days, it is rather sad that this feature is still in the Wishlist after such a long time. I recommended wild Apricot to another organisation, but they rejected it as a contender for this very reason.

Hi, thanks you for your suggestion. Could you please elaborate a little? Like, what is it you are after or what problem you're trying to solve? The more details we have, the better we understand and prioritize.

Until this is a feature here is what we [at Nicasio Design] propose:
Client/Admin creates an event and adds a custom event registration field called "CEUs for Attendance" (or something similar).
-- this field would need to be the "Multiple Choice" option so the admin can preset the option of how many CEUs are awarded for the event, (1, 2, 3, etc.).
-- this is the only field type that allows this I believe (the radio option requires more than one option).
-- the admin would set the field & option be auto-checked and set to be required so a person is forced to leave it checked when registering.Nicasio would create a process using the WA API and a CRON job (runs on a daily/nightly basis automatically) to check for events that have ended for the current day.
-- For events ended since the last CRON job ran, find those events' "Check-Ins" that the Client/Admin would need to be selecting at the event. (An admin can check-in attendees using the website's admin interface and/or the WA app I believe).
-- Once we find the persons checked-in we would grab their email address (provided via event registration form) to lookup their account info via the API.
-- For persons checked-in who are also members, we would then save the "CEUs for Attendance" amount from the event registration form to a field we would have already added to the Membership fields called "Obtained CEUs" or something similar.
-- The "Obtained CEUs" field would be a basic multiline "textarea" field that is treated much like the "Notes" field in the admin.
-- We'd add the data needed in a one event per line format, each time we need to update it for a member, something similar to:
2016/09/13, Event Name Here, 3 CEUs
2016/11/27, Event Name Here, 2 CEUs
2017/01/08, Event Name Here, 4 CEUs
-- the data would continue to append itself to this single field (or prepend if you wanted the dates reversed in the example above)To create the API/CRON job script and to provide support/training for setting up events/etc. I'd estimate this to take roughly 20 to 30 Hours. Please note this is only a rough estimate and all WA API involved work is billed at an hourly basis.

It would be great and save an extra step, if our members could see the events and CEU's for that event in their account. If they get audited by the professional licensing agency, they need proof of attendance.

Ability to track education credits etc for members

Our member base loves the website except for this one item - several members have expressed frustration that they cannot go in and find out which events they have attended so they can download their continuing education credits. We provide credits for multiple certifications and this is very time-consuming to do for each member. An automated tracking method based on event attendance would be very welcome.

Yes, this would be awesome as I have a couple groups who need to track CEU's for Events. If we could start simple - such as when adding a new event we could add a CEU hour value number (1, 1.5, 2, etc)... and this would record/track by user the total hours. Even something this simple would be great.

We need to track the CEU count and name of each session they attend at our annual conference. The sessions are broken down to .1 or .15.
Our workshops throughout the year are given one CEU amount, and the name of the workshop needs to be included.

We also would like to send our members a certificate of participation, and allow them to have the information in an email. That would be an additional or a different way of resolving this need. I can send them an email with their name, but I have no guarantee of it not being altered.

A way to track the hours from classes given, so the members can log in and see how many (and what) credit hours they have

Yes please!!!! Here are some thoughts:
*The field would need to be something we could edit so that if someone only attended part of the day, we could adjust. It should NOT be adjustable by the participant, only the admin.
*The transcript dates or time period needs to be adjustable. We have members from other states who run on a different time frame than we do.
*The contact would need to be able to print the transcript and view it online.
*Many systems allow participants to add their own classes but these would have to look different or somehow be notated so it didn't appear as though we were verifying these events (This would be a nice option but not completely necessary.
*It would be great if we could email a completion certificate after the event with the amount of hours included. -

This is one downfall that I am not able to pitch to new clients. I have an Association Management Company (AMC) and I would like to be able to offer this service with WA and not have to go through other software companies that charge $7000 a year.

Yes, we'll take a look to see if we can build a CEU tracker that can connect back to WA via the API. We have an association who does not use WA asking about this, as they aren't happy with their current association management system's (AMS's) ability to track CEUs. So this might drive some new associations your way if we get this rolling. We will review the comments in this wish list thread to develop specifications, but people are also welcome to contact me at dave@stevens-stevens.com if they wish to add other specifications that associations might find generally useful in CEU tracking and reporting, and how they would like it to show up in WA.

Dave, we don't provide any custom development services, so if you're looking to have this built it right now it would probably be best to have your programmer look into it.
But we would be very interested to see your results and of course help in any way we can.

We are new to Wild Apricot via a request from one of our association clients, but I see you have recently added an application programming interface (API) that might allow for us to build an external application for CEUs that could tie back to members but allow for reports and member viewing of their own CEUs via that external system. (I should note that we have been doing custom programming for associations and non-profits for 20 years, and connecting with other association management systems such as YM, so this doesn't seem terribly difficult.) It might be easier for us to build this externally and tie it back than for you to build it into the core WA system. Should I contact someone at WA about this, or just have our programmers look into this?

One of our associations, CEUs are counted based on meeting attendance. Another association tracks specific requirements towards certification based on optional training sessions they attend during the annual conference.

Hi, I like how they do CPD tracking. It would be great if we could have the same in WA as they have.
