Similar idea, but slightly different suggestion/purpose.
It would be great if there were a couple of optional fields under the Event Details > When and Where section that could be used as macros throughout the email templates that would allow us to configure a map link label and url.

At the very least, there should be a contact us form gadget or something. Contact Us is probably the one of the most standard, consistent and common pages you'd find on any website.

Can be done using Theme overrides functionality – by fixing HTML code in the gadget templates. But I’ll be collecting comments to see if suggested user-friendly functionality needed by others.

The configuration options for this gadget are far too limited, making the gadget virtually a liability rather than a feature. Right now, by default and without any configuration options, it shows Title, Start Date and Location.

Our members find the start date exceptionally confusing. Yes, despite the fact that the heading says "Upcoming Events" and despite the fact that they can click through and see the event details, including start and end date.

It would be nice if we could pick which fields from the upcoming event are displayed in the gadget. Or at least provide an option to only display the event title...which would force a user to click through for ALL the details.

In the mean time, I've had to put this hideous NOTE immediately below the gadget....
NOTE: The dates listed above are the START date. To see the END date, click through to the event details. In most cases, the END date is also the registration deadline.

My only other option is to ditch the entire gadget (which defeats the easy dynamic benefit of the WA gadgets) and manually manage the content on the page. This starts to dilute the cost/benefit of using WA.

I'm glad to see that there is a possible solution using Theme Overrides, but there's also a lot of room for major error by using overrides.

@Evgeny ... yes I think your "simple plan" would be sufficient for most people's needs and certainly better than nothing. So if going after the simple solution means getting the feature to market sooner...then it has my vote!
