Sorry for the late update.
The first step was finished and emails can now be carbon copied to contact’s alternative emails. To do so the contact fields which store the alternative emails must be explicitly marked on the email setting page.
Unsubscribing will unsubscribe all alternative emails simultaneously because they all belong to the very same account. The person clicking “unsubscribe” is warned about this on the unsubscribe page.
For now we paused the development of this feature. but not for good. :) So I’m changing this wish status back to “collecting comments”.
Thank you everyone for a valuable feedback.
An error occurred while saving the comment Keith Fetterman commentedPlease don't limit this feature to just one alternate email address. I suggest creating a new custom email address field, with an option to receive emails when the membership record is used in an email blast. This would allow an administrator to define multiple email address fields in a single membership record to receive email blasts.
This would be a huge benefit for us.
Thanks,
KeithKeith Fetterman supported this idea ·An error occurred while saving the comment Keith Fetterman commentedOur club has family memberships and we need to send emails (events, email blasts, newsletters, invoices, etc.) to multiple email addresses associated with a single member record. In our case, we have both spouses that want to receive emails from Wild Apricot. We need to specify multiple email addresses per member record when sending emails. WA said that we needed to create separate member records for this. I thought more about the idea of having separate membership records. This would work, but it really complicates membership management. We have several membership levels that have renewal fees associated with them. If we have to create additional member records for the spouse emails, which membership level are they associated with? How can we link them the family membership with the spouse email member record? What happens when the paid membership record is suspended or archived... do we then have to manually find the other spouse member record to make sure that one is archived/suspended as well? Do we create a membership level for each type of spouse member record that associated with the different membership levels? As you can see this becomes a rather complicated, manual process because there is no way to link the two types of member records, i.e., the one that is the paid member record that has the renewal fee and the spouse member record. It would be much easier if you provided support for more than one email address. Here is a thought. Create a new data field type "email" and offer an option (checkbox) that when checked emails sent to the member will also be sent to any alternate email addresses in the record that have the checkbox checked.
Thanks,Keith
I had to make several mass updates to existing registrants, which I had to accomplish by editing each record. Being able to import changes would have made the task much faster. Please add it.
