For now, this is not something we’re going to change – not sure if ever.
Workaround to use: create a special “entry” free level to apply to, and close “normal” ones for application. For the entry level, create also a dropdown field where a potential member can choose a level they want to apply to. Add other fields you need to assess the application. When application is successful, your admin is to change membership level to required one and generate membership invoice (membership upgrade invoice). The member will be emailed with the invoice and can pay.

Again, I have made this suggestions multiple times over the years. When you all recently updated the membership forms I was hopeful that you finally addressed this issue, but you did not. Seriously, this cannot be that difficult. And I have to believe that this would help many, many organizations. Please elevate this on your list.

Two organizations I work with require new members to be approved. Dues are significant, as are requirements for membership. Currently, if a new member is entered in Wild Apricot they are automatically sent an invoice. This is a problem, since it takes some time to review new member requests. Suggest an option if you choose 'Approval Required' then add a sub-option to 'invoice immediately' or 'Invoice after approval'. We currently 'work-around' this with an 'Applicant' level and then change level if they are approved. This is a pain, especially with volunteer (member) administrators.

This would be especially helpful for Past Events.

The Registrant list on the website pages (not admin site) defaults to listing in order of most recent date registered. Is there a way to sort that list alphabetically? That would make a lot more sense to users.

I absolutely agree with this suggestion and made it myself many years ago. I am now setting up a WA account for a second organization and getting all the members subscribed takes a huge amount of nagging. And, that was the primary purpose of the site! Please! As long as people can unsubscribe let us at least start them off with the benefit they asked for.
