5. Make top of Welcome Page appear when someone goes to the website

   I am not sure what the correct category for my question/idea is. When users go to our organizations website, the bottom of the Welcome page is displayed rather than the top with the Theme header. This behavior also occurs with another organization's website who also uses Wild Apricot. It annoys our users to have to scroll up to the top. How do I fix it?

7. Overide theme not working for me - what am I doing wrong?

   Hi. I am trying to override the navigational/horizontal menu theme for my site. The theme is Skyline Downtown. Three things I want to override:
   1. remove the dots that indicate there is a second level of navigation.
   2. Change the color and location of the selected state rule
   3. Remove the blue rule that runs at the bottom of the menu

   I accessed two .less files that I think I needed to work with:
   A. constants.less
   B. gadget.menu.horizontal.less

   I made the changes in both.
   I uploaded those files and then clicked the "rebuild themes" button. Nothing has changed. Any ideas please? The countless hours I have spent in trying to make these modifications are driving me mad. In the end I really want something as simple as this: http://shongumlake.org/ (made in WA) but I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

9. Find examples of or sharing of custom gadgets? Similar to how Axure has an entire community based sharing program.

   I'm not even really sure where I am supposed to post this. I am looking for a community of Wild Apricot users who share code for custom widgets. Similar to http://www.axure.com/community/widget-libraries
   I am a designer, not a developer and at the moment I am trying to figure out how to customize my search widget so that it's an expandable search, but I am sure as I progress I will be looking to customize even more and would really like to be able to pull from what others have done. I in turn would like to share any widget customization I am able to do.

17. Implementing Facebook Comments

    Facebook has a comment box widget that you can add to your website to all people to comment on your pages with or without logging in to Facebook. If the commenter logs in to Facebook in order to post they will also be given the option to post their comment on their Facebook profile as well which can help spread awareness of your site virally.

    Implementing the widget is easy. Before you can start using any Facebook widgets, you need to get an application ID from Facebook - you can do this be registering an application here: http://developers.facebook.com/setup

    Once you have this, log into your Wild Apricot website as an administrator and go to Settings > Global JavaScript and paste the following into the editor: <div id="fb-root"></div>

    Change the number next to numposts to set the number of posts you want displayed.
    Change the number next to width to set the width of the widget.

    Save the changes and refresh the page to see the widget box. To administer the comments, log into Facebook using the account used to get the application ID and then you will see a link that says "Administer Comments" under the post button of your widget.

18. Adobe Typekit and Google WebFonts

    Hiyah,

    I am trying to use Adobe Typekit or Google WebFonts in the design of my site.

    Am having difficulty getting either to work.

    I have tried two methods with Typekit, having inserted Typekit's two lines of code into the <head> section of each page by using the Meta-Tags>Raw Headers window.

    1) - using CSS customisations to generate a custom class:

    • then using that to surround some text:
      

    <h1asd> Test text </h1asd>

    This method has no effect

    2) using span class on the page, to reference 'h1asd' defined in typekit as a

    <span class="h1asd">Test text</span>

    This method has no effect eitherGoogle Webfonts also requires a line of code in the <head> section which I've also done using Meta-Tags>Raw HeadersThen I've added this to the CSS customisation: h1asdg { font-family: ‘Raleway Dots’, Arial, serif; font-weight: 400; } And again tried wrapping the text in a <h1asdg> tag, but also with no effect.

    Hello,

    First post to the forum. I was wondering if anyone had a nice program to use to integrate an EASY to use slideslow into my webpage that flips through a few photos or figures. I tried using Picasa to do the HTML code but I am not sure where the photos need to be and how I then tweak the code.

20. Pictures in the left Navigation Container?

    Hello,

    I have currently chose a hybrid template (main navigation on across the top, and sub-items along the left side), and have customized it a bit. http://www.rnlcny.org/Members The login box is also in the left submenu, although I have limited it to showing only on certian Members accessed pages.

    I would like to add more to the left Navigation Container, like a 200x100 picture that tell of an event or theme, or iframes or even widgets. If it was stacked from top to bottom, the navigation container would look like: Image, Sub-Items Menu, Log-in (that I've turned on for appriotate pages), then possibly a widget or iframe.

    I can make the object in the CSS customization, but I don't know how to place it into the html. I know I can affect the CSS, but how do I affect the html? Can I access it through webdav or something like that? An same type of question for an iframe. How do I insert that type of thing in the right place in the html? Some sort of javascript?

    Let me know when you can. Also, if possible, it would be great to see an example (even a test page) to dive deep into the code and really understand how it is set up. (I use Firebug in Firefox to really explore the code and learn.)
