1. Maintenance notice Jun 10, 2010

2. Help portal maintenance notice

   Software upgrade is planned for our help portal (help.wildapricot.com) on June 9th, 2010.

   This does NOT affect our main servers hosting Wild Apricot software so client accounts will not be affected in any way during this update.

   Expected downtime is up to 2 hours starting at 4:15 am EST (Toronto/New York time).

   Please inform other users as appropriate. We apologize for any inconvenience.

3. Emails delivery delays for Yahoo email accounts

   We have received several reports of email delivery problems to yahoo-based emails. Our investigation have established that Yahoo email servers are currently 'deferring' emails sent by Wild Apricot servers on behalf of our clients to yahoo-based emails. (In a nutshell this means that they are limiting the volume of emails we are able to send to them, which results in delays or eventual failure to deliver).

   We have contacted Yahoo about this matter and provided them with the detailed information about the issue and we hope they will be able to react to this quickly.

   Our technical team has also been reviewing our email logs and other aspects of our email system to see if our system might have been abused by email spammers - but we found no evidence of this at all.

   So for the moment we mostly have to wait for Yahoo reaction - though we are also exploring possibilities to establish alternative email channels.

   We will post updates on this thread as they become available.

4. Version 3.4 known problems

   Unfortunately even with a month of testing we went through, when version 3.4 was launched in live environment a number of problem was identified. I will use this thread to list the known high priority problem, workarounds and our work on fixes.

   1) Link tracking in previously sent emails might not work (while link tracking for newly created emails works fine). Our team is working on a fix and we expect to deploy it by Tuesday morning march 30th. There is no workaround.

   2) After login people are not returned to whatever page they started login from. This means they have to manually navigate back to the needed page.
   We are currently investigating this problem.

   3) Some clients with heavily customized sites based on themes with newly released dynamic menu (see http://help.wildapricot.com/display/DOC/Release+history ) might see dynamic menu mismatched to their customizations.
   Workaround: go to CSS Customization, click on edit and then save. Dynamic menu should disappear (later on you can renable it and customize as necessary.)
   Fix: We are working to hide it from those sites.

5. Nov 12: Intermittent problems between 3:35 pm and 5:35 pm (EST)

   At 3:35 pm our monitoring systems alerted us that some client websites are responding slowly or even returning "Server is busy" message. Our technical team has immediately jumped on the problem. We could not find the problem right away so initiated a reboot of our servers. After the restart most client sites started to work but quite a few were still very slow and were occasionally throwing "Server is busy"message.
   Our further investigation indicated that the most likely reason is excessive traffic (possibly a DDOS - Distributed denial of service attack) to one of the sites on our platform. Once we were able to identify the site in question, we have disabled it and this has restored normal functioning to all clients.

   The bottom line is that between 3:35 pm EST and 5:35 pm EST some users accessing some client websites experienced very slow replies or even occasional Server is busy messages. (As we have a webfarm with multiple servers, the same site worked fine for some visitors and malfunctioned for others accessing it from somewhere else or a few seconds apart).

   As of 5:35 pm all sites are functioning normally.

   We will be continuing our investigation to the root cause of this problem and working to prevent re-occurrences of this.

6. Maintenance notice Feb 19th, 2009

   Server maintenance is planned for February 19th, 2009 between 1:45 am EST (Toronto/New York) to 2 am EST. Expected downtime is 5 to 10 minutes.

   We will be applying a small error fix dealing with intermittent glitches we have been experiencing on one of our web servers.
