@Ronda Bernstein : Some organizations do not reimburse memberships to associations (as they are often on personal account), but reimburse conference registrations. When a membership is not part of the conference registration, they might not get it reimbursed. So your solution is not feasbale for some types of organizations/associations.

Right now I have to transfer all the people paying "conference fee + 1 year membership fee" by hand to become members, which is very annoying. The problem with a separate Member registration is that quite some people do not get membership reimbursed by their organization, but get conference fees (including membership) reimbursed. Making membership and event registration separate is not feasible for these people. Hence, an automatic option to make certain registration types automatic members (or renewal when they were already past members) would be great. Just a check-box for this option is needed (X =make member/renewal member registrant)

When we have our annual conference, we were wondering if there is a way for new members to sign up and/or members to renew their membership with their Event Sign up for the conference? We provide a discount for our annual conference with new/renewed memberships so right now we have to do a lot of cross checking lists and are hoping for a more efficient process.

This is vital to our organization and I would really appreciate making this a high priority.

I think this is related to the wishlist item that would allow members to make a donation when they renew their membership. And the third leg of that stool is that people registering for an event should also be able to make a donation to support the event or the organization. This is pretty basic stuff!

The way you do this is simple. Make the event Member Only. Then in order to register, they have to do membership first. Then they get the "member rate" for the conference when they complete the registration.

PLEASE MAKE THIS A PRIORITY......

For our organization, membership is included with registration in the fall conference, but this isn't an option to do automatically through the form. I have to manually change all registrants to active members, a lot of extra time for something that could be automated. Please! :)

I would like to do event registration with membership renewal and an optional donations. This mimics our end of the year annual luncheon form which is very effective in driving both renewals and donations for scholarships

I realize each organization has individual needs but, I'm also in favor of allowing (required or optional) new membership or renewal during event registration.

While we're waiting for the hopeful upgrade, I added a custom field for new memberships and renewals, that I update manually.

Another consideration would be to add an event option during enrollment or renewal. Eventually, a keep shopping and cart buttons could allow integration with a online store and donations to incorporate all WA functions.

I just noticed one of our lapsed members registered for an event which required membership to register. Why was this person allowed to register? Their membership expired. Lapsed to me is no longer a "member". When I contacted the member, they said they didn't recall seeing their renewal notice via email and just registered for the upcoming event. The system never prompted them to renew their membership during the event registration process. The system should stop lapsed members and force them to renew before allowing them to register as a member. Or, give them the option to renew and continue with an event registration. Our lapsed period is set to 30 days.

What about setting it so that when people register for an event give them the option to choose to join at a discounted rate and get a discounted event cost or not join and pay full price for the event.

When a member signs up for an event, the date which is beyond their renewal date -- why not go ahead and send them a renewal notice since we know they intend to remain a member

This would be so incredibly helpful!!! not having this capability adds extra steps that should not be necessary.

In our situation, we have our big annual conference where cost of registration includes membership for the upcoming year and then we don't open up non-event renewals until after the conference. This gives us a workaround to track what needs to be updated, but we still have to manually update them all since we can't say that enrollment renews membership.

This is a HUGE problem for us. Much like the fact that you cannot eliminate the "Invoice Me" option, both issues leave us having to chase after folks to pay their dues and pay their outstanding registration invoices. Before our WA site, our members were in the habit of paying their calendar year dues (Jan 1-Dec 31) when they register for the meeting which takes place in March. When they login to our new site and are able to get the discounted member rate without having to renew their membership, a lot of them think that they must have paid their dues for the year already because our old site wouldn't allow you to select the member rate unless your dues were current. Our old site was so limited in functionality, so having actually lost features by moving to WA is disheartening. Please, please fix this. This must be a priority for all organizations offering member discounts.

We have two different conference registration fees one for members and one for non-members. If an attendee attempts to register as a member the system checks the membership file and either allows the registration at the lower price or changes them to the non-member fee. The problem is that if a person signed for a membership but does not pay for the membership - when the system checks at conference registration time they are allowed the member registration fee even though they have not paid for the membership - in many instances they never pay the membership fee. This is a problem - we need a system to allow registration at the membership price only if the membership is paid. Have been asking for this for 2 years now.

An alternative could be adding a renewal option as an extra charge on the event registration form. You could manually renew those members after you receive payment confirmation in their event registration. The only tricky part is if you track membership payments separately from event registrations in your accounting software and financial reports. You could figure that out from the event registration export.

Cindy, I hear you and do not disagree with you. Right now, we're focusing on top votes items. This one goes as a second priority for now - until we're done with high-voted ones.
