Text (SMS) communications with attendees, members, etc.
I did not see this on the wishlist in the list of 339, unless i missed it :).
SMS (text) notication option would be great to have as alot of our members use texting on their phones. Email works good too but push text woould be great to have as an option for communication. Thanks.
Text messaging service is available in the Communication center for US and Canadian customers.

For me, as I work in medical office, communicating for me is very important to contact my patients.
I handle also my small business and need to update time to time on my clients and staff.
Then I my friend created BizzBuzzer, is a web based sms app that let me send a messages to any mobile phones through online using my desktop.
I don't always have my mobile with me so I really need to focus on my duties on my computer.
It will notifies me with a beep whenever they respond on my computer as well.
My work and business became more efficiently and less hassle now. -

This is a brilliant idea in my opinion. Im sure those who want the option would be happy to stump up the cash if they wanted to use it and those who didnt could stay as normal

An SMS notification mechanism that would allow participants to subscribe to a particular event and be notified by text message of last minute changes to the details of an event.

As the world moves to mobile interfaces, add texting in addtion to or as an option to email.

If there was a separate package exclusively for SMS, anyone who would want to have it would just have to add it to their current plan and you could add an additional cost for every text that went over their amount. Ex: 1,000 outgoing text, free incoming (most text providers have) for $$$$ and .$$$$ for additional text sent. Do not include in the original pricing as for other customers that don't need it.
-
Question to all: sending SMS messages cost money, we will have to put them on our customers as we cannot control amount of messages. Would you be willing to pay extra money (somehow) to send such messages? Or you were thinking that this should be included into our regular pricing?

This would be a great option to have - both the sending of a voice file to a phone as a bulk dialler. Ideally customized with the members name and the ability to send a merged SMS text. Great for last minute reminders of events etc. Should use a similar interface to the current email blast interface (macros).

My HOA has a system like this. It allows them to send out routine and emergency messages. The users get to select from email, voice telephone, and SMS communication for different types of alerts.

SMS is needed! It is how we are doing much of our communication or at least come up with recommended alternative.

From adamjamesLaw.... "You can use the API. We have a script written in Google that syncs Wildapricot and an SMS provider database."
Where can I find the script?
-
Jessica - no, SMS messages have not been implemented yet.

SMS could certainly be an alternative to this! Is Wild Apricot currently equipped to do SMS messages? I did comment on that wishlist/suggestion, as well. I'd certainly like to know when SMS becomes available and would sign up for a seminar to learn how to use it :) Thanks!

Our members are on the road a lot, as travel is a major part of our industry. So, emails get overlooked or don't get seen for 2-3 days sometimes. We've used www.dialmycalls.com to record a voice message and sent out a mass telephone call blast to the members the day of a meeting to remind them, or asking them to respond to an urgent call to action. It would be easier and better if this was function in Wild Apricot, you record a voice clip to file and instead of emailing it out, it would dial all the phone numbers of the members and play the voice clip to them on the telephone, then hangs up when it's done.

Absolutely agree. The world has moved on. SMS is the new email . People do respond much quicker to SMS and last minute changes to events can be a real pain to relay to members.
Put it on the Development List PLEASE

We export certain groups from WA to a bulk sms provider as well. In South Africa we use http://www.bulksms.com/ for this. We have a script that cleans up the phone numbers etc and formats for the input into the text messaging system.
This does work, but one does need to keep the two systems in sync.
Would be cleaner if we could send text messages directly from WA and configure a provider of choice. I guess there are issues of payment relating to this and providers servicing different countries complicating the whole issue so can understand why WA has not implemented this yet.
Agree with a lot of the posts here that sms is more effective in getting people's attention these days.
